Mr Alex Halliday –
Excellent starter pack. Used with Merkur 23C Long Handled Classic, shaving every other day.
Feather: certainly are sharp. Too much so for my skin for a regular shave. Great if you need to remove 5 o’clock shadow before going out in the evening. Perfect for removing several days beard growth quickly and smoothly.
Derby: my day-to-day blade. Gives a close shave without irritating my skin. 100 blades costs GBP10.99 so, at my preferred 2 to 3 shaves per blade, this bulk pack will last you most of a year. Very good value.
Israeli: really can’t get on with these. Even fresh out of the pack I found that they dragged across my skin and pulled at the stubble. Tried all 10 with the same result, so not sure if there was a manufacturing issue as other people have given these good reviews.
Mr Matthew Robinson –
This is a great starter pack to help one get into safety razor shaving and decide on which blade is best for them.
Feather: the sharp one, its Japanese steel for your face!
Derby: I thought was the most comfortable blade but did not last as long against my beard but then I don’t shave every day.
Israeli blades were somewhere in between I found they were better on the second shave, nicked myself a bit on the first.
So I usually leave it a few days between shaves.
365 = 91.25(shaves a year)
I can get about 4 shaves per blade (and that’s being pessimistic)
92 =23 (blades a year)
Conclusion, I just bought over a years’ worth of blades for under a tenner (and that’s if I decide not to grow a beard that year). Goodbye cartridge razors.

What a brilliant idea, I ordered these as I am new to DE shaving, and have now shaved with all three types. I prefer the feather blades, but the Derbys and Israelis ( also with these you get an extra shave before you replace the blade…But at these prices you could have a brand new blade each morning.)are good too. I will be ordering more blades in the very near future
Giorgio Lando –
I ordered this sample pack together with my Merkur Futur. It is very useful to try different blades when you acquire a new razor, because each razor seems to require different degrees of smoothness and/or sharpness.
In my case, I have discovered that the Israeli Shaving Shack blades are perfect for the Futur (adjusted around 3) and I will order them again in the near future.
Simon W –
Great way to try which blades you like. The infamous Feathers were not as scary as I was lead to believe. Sharp, yes but pretty smooth too. However, after a few days use they seemed to start nicking me.
The Derby’s were OK, nothing special. Would be happy to use regularly.
The SS blades were reasonably good. I could ‘feel’ the blade a bit more with these, they seem a bit thinner. Again, perfectly good and usable on a daily basis.
However, I did find the Gillette blades (purchased separately at the same time) to be my personal favourite. I would recommend trying this pack though to help you test which blades you prefer.

Excellent idea, wasn’t very impressed with the feathers, however the Israelis are superb as are the Derbys. Great way of trying some of the main blade manufacturers! Thanks guys!
Simon Parsons –
What a great way to 1) try different brands, and 2) get ages worth of blades in one go!
This is by far the cheapest way to try 3 different brands of DE blades, whilst at the same time getting a good stock. So far I’m liking the Israeli blades twinned with my Lord razor, but it’s nice to change things now and then!
A must for starting out DE shaving. I started with the Feathers, and ended up back where I started. You respect the feathers and it all pays off. I found the other two blades where not sharp enough, resulting in me putting extra pressure on my skin (Razor burn!). However I would still use the Derbys if i ran out of Feathers, but not the Israelis.. Worst shave i’ve experienced…

An excellent way to find out which blade suits you and your razor. After trying all of them I’ve just ordered some more Derbys. I found them to give the most comfortable shave allied to my Gillette “Fatboy”. The Feathers would be a close second but I found them more liable to leave a bit of razor burn ATG. Try this before you invest of if you like a wee change now and again!
Mr Joe Turner –
Being new to DE shaving, I did a lot of research and found that everyone said to try a few different blades to find the one that suited your face/beard type. This starter kit is ideal, as it gives you enough blades to have a proper trial of each over a few months. I also added ‘The Bluebeards Revenge’ blades to my trial for completeness. After using 1 of each 4 blades, The feather blade is by far the sharpest, the Israeli seemed to dull/blunt the quickest and the Derby seemed a good all round blade in terms of sharpness and longevity
Mr Peter Jackson –
I’m new to this and all the research says try a few different blades. Each will prefer a different blade and usually it will be one of these three. Additionally 30 blades! that’s a lot of shaving for the price.
Mr Nick Sorrell –
I purchased this sampler pack to accompany my Merkur 39C. Remember, YMMV…The Feather blades offer a super close shave but with the proviso that they can cause some irritation if you don’t respect the blade/razor combo. The Derbys are incredibly smooth and offer a fantastic shave with no irritation, and the Israeli blades offer much the same. Well worth a punt if you are new to DE shaving as you get blades that offer shaves of varying degrees of aggression, helping you pretty quickly find the right kind of blade for you.

Having finally worked my way through the stack of Isreali blades in my DE shaving starter kit I wasn’t sure what to go to next. So much choice is not always a good thing when you don’t know what suits your needs best. Trying this selection box of blades is certainly a great way and cheap way of trying several without breaking the bank. All are good blades, yes the Feathers really are keen especially for a relative novice but they help improve your shaving technique and the Derby are certainly more forgiving but no less effective. My only criticism is the fact that this is one of only two selection packs. More of the same kind of packs with the other razor blade options would be great.
Mr Daryl Jackson –
Great way of testing out different blades. I’m new to DE shaving and wanted to get a way of testing which blade was right for me and this certaintly did that. Feathers are great and now my go to…despite having rave reviews i just can’t get a close enough shave with the derbys. Good to find out before ordering in bulk!
Good pack to try and sample different blades, been using Derby blade to test as this is my first time into using DE to shave. Working up courage to try feather then Israeli. :/
