It's quite comfortable in the hand and produces some pretty decent lather. However, it does smell quite funky, but I'm sure this will pass quickly. Good brush considering the price, but I would recommend even beginners spend a bit more and get a proper badger brush. Helps beginners with it's size as it's excellent to move around the face and most important saves on your use of the all important Shave Cream. The "Funky" smell soon passes after initial few uses. However I put it in my travelling washbag and the first time I used it was very suprised by its quality and ease it produced a great lather.
