Great value and elegance, a royally good brush!

Great value and elegance, a royally good brush!

The Shaving Shack's Sovereign collection is a range of elegant and great value shaving brushes that not only look fantastic but perform their lather making duties superbly.

Available in three types of bristle: Pure Dark Badger, High Mountain White Silvertip Badger and Synthetic, all Sovereign brushes sport a hefty 22mm knot size with an extra 10% more bristle than is typically used in a brush of this size. This extra hair adds to each brush's 'backbone' making them all great for creams and soaps!

The Sovereign Pure Dark Badger Brush
A striking Pure grade badger hair brush that looks fantastic and performs superbly. Although a less expensive grade of badger hair than the High Mountain Silvertip, the brush makes up for it in added stiffness potentially making it the better choice if you are a shaving soap lather lover!

The Sovereign High Mountain White Silvertip Badger Brush
The same size as the Pure Dark Badger brush but with a definite upgrade in bristle quality. High Mountain White Silvertip is a rarer, softer tipped and more luxurious grade of badger hair and is an absolute steal when compared to the price of other Silvertip brushes - you needn't pay a princely sum for such a high end brush!

The Sovereign Synthetic Brush For those who don't want animal hair, the man-made 'Dupont' bristle is a premium synthetic filament that feels and performs like natural hair. The Sovereign Synthetic is an awesome alternative that comes with the same features as the other two brushes i.e. 22mm knot size and extra bristle. It has the same water retention properties of badger hair yet also manages to feel luxuriously softer than its badger hair counterparts!

Tips on caring for your shaving brush

  • Use warm water! Hot or boiling water can cause damage, ultimately resulting in shedding. Hot, in brush terms, is usually considered to be anything above the 50 degree Celsius mark.

  • Go easy with your brush! The core of the brush is where the magic happens and mashing down with your brush can twist and break the core hairs and over time cause hair loss and a dimpled effect in the centre of the brush.

  • Rinse and dry after use. When you are done using your brush shake or flip it hard a few times to remove all the water and hang upside down in a stand to dry. If you don’t have a stand dry the brush thoroughly on a towel.

Why is my brush shedding?

  • Intermittent shedding is quite normal across all makes of brush. Please read our magazine article that explains the issue, its causes and how you can prevent it happening: Why is my shaving brush shedding hair?!!
