A beautiful handle and blade from the German masters at Boker!

This beautiful straight razor is part of the Boker Premium Selection. The handle is elaborately worked and milled directly from material held in Boker’s Solingen manufacturing plant. Originally, tortoiseshell was a material produced from the shells of tortoise and turtle until the trade ceased back in the 1970s. The distinctive colours and patterns are widely used in the world of male grooming, for example in combs, shaving brushes and razors and tortoisehell is typcially synonymous with luxury goods. The deceptively similar imitation tortoiseshell handle on this razor is very robust and, with its nickel silver inlays, complements the beautifully decorated carbon steel blade. The 24 carat gold plate on the blade helps to finsh of the razor and make it a real talking point!

Boker have been manufacturing high quality razors in Solingen (Germany's "Sheffield steel" equivalent) since 1869. More than 100 years later the new lineup revives the old tradition, with each open razor going through 170 production steps. A guarantor for the highest quality is the successful "finger nail test" wherby only the edge of a perfectly ground blade can be visibly bent on your thumbnail and returns immediately to its original shape when released -cheap blades are too thick to do this. Comes packaged with a certificate of authenticity.

Please note: As with all of our open razors, whilst this razor is factory honed and deemed "shave ready" by the manufacturer, that's not to say it can't be made sharper by getting it honed professionally which is down to personal preference.
