Shaving101′s Mike Sandoval reviews Bluebeards Revenge Post Shave Balm
American wet shaving legend Mike Sandoval has described The Bluebeards Revenge post shave balm as “smooth and creamy”.
The guru, who has previously described The Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream as one of the best he has ever tried, is also a massive fan of the Bluebeards beard reducing balm.
Specially formulated with Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera to nourish the skin after shaving, the balm contains Decelerine, which is made from a mixture of active ingredients that delay hair growth, reducing the frequency of shaving and depilation and at the same time providing a recovering effect on the skin.

“The consistency of the balm is more like a smooth cream rather than a runny lotion or liquid gel that is commonly seen from other manufacturers. While most aftershave balms pour from the bottle or have a pump dispenser, this one is dense enough that you can simply scoop your desired amount of product for application using your fingers.”
Mike then went on to praise the soothing qualities of the post shave balm.
“The smooth and creamy texture of the product allows it to spread and absorb into the skin very easily and instantly soothes any irritation leaving the skin feeling cooled and refreshed.

”Despite the creamier texture of the balm, it does not leave the skin feeling greasy at all. After the balm dries down, the skin feels perfectly moisturized and ready to face the day.”
Mike concluded his review of the post shave balm by saying: “The smooth and creamy texture of this aftershave balm makes it a welcome addition to a market flooded with runny and greasy balms that clog pores and leave the skin feeling oily. A little of this balm goes a long way and 100 ml / 3.4 oz jar will easily last two or more months of daily use.”

A number of shaving products available at The Shaving Shack have made it into a leading feature on the Shaving101.com blog.
Popular US shaving blogger Mike Sandoval recently published an article titled ‘My Favourite Shaving Products’.
And first prize in the shaving soap category went to DR Harris Marlborough.
”Traditional, triple-milled hard soaps provide me the richest and most protective lather for my shaves,” said Mike.
”Of the assortment that I use regularly, DR Harris is significantly better in both performance and fragrance over others, including Trumper and Truefitt & Hill.
”Lathering up for a shave with this soap fills my bathroom with the noticeable aroma of fresh cedar and sandalwood. The shave with Marlborough is always great and I never grow tired of the scent.”

Bluebeards Revenge described as one of best shaving creams ever!
We recently sent Mike Sandoval, from Shaving101.com, tubs of Coate’s Special Edition Tea Tree and Rosemary Shaving Cream and The Bluebeards Revenge™.
Whilst Mike jumped at the chance to review Coate’s quality shaving cream, he was slightly less excited about trying The Bluebeards Revenge™.
“I prefer more traditional products and I was hesitant to try a cream that contains an ingredient that affects hair growth,” said Mike.

“One day a box arrived at my house with a tub of the new shaving cream, so I tried to pawn it off on Isaac to write this review, but he didn’t want to use it either. I didn’t want to look like a ‘bum fluff brigade member’ to Nick (Shaving Shack’s website manager), so I gave it a try.”
And Mike was full of praise for our flagship shaving cream, describing it as one of the best shaving creams he has ever used.
“The shaving cream itself is very dense, but it is easy to work with,” he explained.
“An almond-sized amount immediately whips into a thick lather with no bubbles in it. Bluebeards’ lather is very dense - like marshmallow cream, the perfect lather because the richer the cream the more it protects your skin during your shave.
“This formulation creates the lather that all other shaving creams should aspire to create. It’s the trifecta of a perfect lather: rich, thick, and protective.”
The US wet shaving guru added: “With some creams that don’t provide good protection, the blade can skip on your skin or make it difficult to shave against the grain, especially at the lower neck or jawline. The Bluebeards Revenge™ lather is very lubricating and allows the blade to glide along the skin smoothly. The richness of the cream coats the face without being too thick to clog the razor or too thin to run off.
”It’s especially good for straight razor shaving for two reasons: (1) the thick lather creates good lubrication for the blade, and (2) the lather stays on your face without dripping off even when taking a little more time with a straight razor.”
Mike then went on to praise the cream’s signature and unique scent, describing it as “fresh, clean scent that is very pleasant on the face”.
He added: ”It’s a traditional barbershop-style fragrance that is noticeable, but enjoyable. After the shave, the cream rinses off the face very easily leaving the skin well nourished and conditioned. This cream will be especially enjoyed by men who don’t like to use aftershave or moisturizer because it won’t leave the skin feeling dry.”
Mike also offered an apology to Nick for avoiding his requests to try The Bluebeards Revenge™ (which he has accepted by the way ).
He concluded by saying: “Although I was apprehensive, I’m grateful that Nick encouraged me to try it. I can’t speak to the product’s claim to reducing hair growth because I haven’t used it for very long; however, the product smells nice, works exceptionally well, and looks cool, too. The thick and rich lather is perfect for both double-edge and straight razor shaving. The Bluebeards Revenge™ is without a doubt one of the best shaving creams I have ever used.”

One of our luxurious shaving creams has been given a rave review by a respected American wet shaving expert.
Mike Sandoval, from leading wet shaving website Shaving101.com, was full of praise for The Cyril Salter Indian Sandalwood shaving cream.
The shaving guru started off his review by praising the cream for its soft texture, fine lather and subtle fragrance.
”Whether you lather directly on your face or in a bowl or scuttle, this cream this cream easily whips in to a rich and usable lather without having a tendency to get too thin or require an excessive amount of water to maintain its hydration,” he said.
”The lather held a nice consistency throughout the shave and showed no issues of drying down between passes.
”I found this to be especially good for straight razor shaves, which take a bit longer due to the slower cutting technique.
”The result was a smooth shave that carried the blade easily over my skin and left my face feeling well protected and hydrated at the end of the shave.”
