Bluebeards Revenge releases TV style commercial

The recent debate over the Sky Sports scandal throws up the question, what does it mean to be masculine in today’s society? With the swift resolution of the media issue in question it would appear that, thankfully, outdated prejudices are out, and inclusive personalities are in. But, attitudes aside, what should a manly man look like?

Step forward, Sacha Harding.

Sacha, 27, recently was awarded the title of ‘Britain’s Manliest Man’ after over 250,000 people voted that his boxer’s jawline, and 6’3” toned torso was the perfect masculine physique. Which is useful, as Sacha needs every ounce of strength for his day job of professional rugby player, where he plays for Bedford Blues Rugby Club.

Sacha’s journey to becoming ‘Britain’s Manliest Man’ is unusual, to say the least.

Last year, premium shaving cream, The Bluebeards Revenge put together a photofit of the most rugged elements of the World’s most alpha-males, creating the following face:

This face, termed ‘Bradiel Buthney’, combines the hair of George Clooney, the nose of Brad Pitt, the eyes of Gerard Butler, the chin of Jason Statham, and the body of Daniel Craig.

The shaving cream asked for any men who resembled this character to email their photo in, with the top eight being chosen and voted for by the public. Over one million votes were cast, with Sacha coming out on top, crowning him ‘Britain’s Manliest Man’, and making him the face of The Bluebeards Revenge.

This week, Sacha’s debut photoshoot took place in a boxing gym, and the first-look pics reveal that he is the rightful winner of the title of ‘Britain’s Manliest Man’.

Bluebeards Revenge ‘Corsair’ badger shaving brush described as ‘outstanding’

American wet shaving legend Mike Sandoval has described The Bluebeards Revenge ‘Corsair’ Super Badger Shaving Brush as having “an outstanding density and lathering capability packed into a comfortable size format that will appeal to a wide range of wet shavers”.

Based on a traditional best-selling handle shape, the Corsair shaving brush is an upgraded model manufactured by Progress Vulfix specifically for The Bluebeards Revenge.

A luxurious brush densely packed with super badger hair!

The lathe turned handle was previously marketed under the name “Buccaneer” and filled with a good quality pure badger hair, making it an affordable luxury.

But the Corsair is knotted with super badger grade hair that Vulfix is well known for using in some of their finest shaving brushes. In addition to the upgraded hair type, the brush is also loaded with around 20 per cent more hair to create a knot that has a stiffer feeling and more density for water retention and lathering capability.

Mike, who runs leading shaving blog Shaving101.com, started off his review by saying: “Vulfix brushes are softer than and not as stiff as other brands, such as Simpsons. They are well made and are well known for their quality and durability, and the Corsair is not an exception to these standards.

”The Corsair is not a firm brush but rather a soft and luxurious brush with a full density that gently massages the face and easily releases the lather on to the skin where you need it rather than holding it in the brush’s core like some overly stiff brushes tend to do,” Mike Sandoval, Shaving101.com

“Unlike the standard Vulfix models, the added badger hair gives it denser feel that is immediately noticeable upon first inspection. The loft of the brush is perfectly uniform in colouring with an attractive three-band colour pattern and a nice shape that is symmetrical and not overly bulbous.

”The handle of the brush is made of a quality faux ivory material and is polished to a nice shine and stamped with the Bluebeards Revenge logo in blue.”

Mike, considered a legend in the wonderful world of wet shaving, tested the Corsair on both shaving creams and hard shaving soaps and said he “found it to be useful for almost any product”.

“When submerged in water, the brush absorbs an impressive amount of water and infuses it effortlessly with any quality shaving cream to create a rich and voluminous lather,” he explained.

“Despite the softer characteristics of the fine super badger hair, the Corsair easily loads with shaving soaps and is great at producing quality lather directly on the face. The tips of the badger hair feel soft on the skin and combine well with the added backbone of the brush to create an ideal balance of density and comfort, which is heavily favoured by many experienced wet shavers.

”The Corsair is not a firm brush but rather a soft and luxurious brush with a full density that gently massages the face and easily releases the lather on to the skin where you need it rather than holding it in the brush’s core like some overly stiff brushes tend to do.”

Mike concluded his review by describing the Corsair as a “well made piece”, adding it is “filled with quality super badger hair”.

The world’s best shaving creams

Three of our luxurious shaving creams have been named as some of the very best on the market.

Dave Alexander, editor of the men’s grooming section on About.com, recently published an article, titled ‘My Picks for the Best Shaving Creams’.

The Bluebeards Revenge, which can reduce beard growth by up to 40 per cent, has been named the world's best shaving cream brand

The Bluebeards Revenge, which can reduce beard growth by up to 40%, topped this coveted list.

“Could there be anything better than the classics like Truefitt & Hill and Geo. F. Trumpers? When it comes to shaving cream, the British really know their stuff - I use the traditional shave lathers almost exclusively in my morning ritual and The Bluebeards Revenge is now one of my ‘must-haves’,” said Dave.

“This product takes the traditional shaving cream and throws in a little science for an outstanding shave.”

Taylor of Old Bond Street Mr. Taylor's shaving cream took 3rd place

Taylor of Old Bond Street Mr. Taylor’s shaving cream brand took third place, while Truefitt and Hill 1805 finished in a respectable seventh.

”Since 1854, Taylor of Old Bond Street has been churning out some of the best men’s shaving products in the world and this product is no exception,” said Dave.

”The rich lather and excellent lubrication will give you one of the best shaves you’ve had. The fragrance of this one is amazing, too, with notes of lavender, bergamont, and geranium - it’s rich and leathery. Good stuff!”

The American men’s grooming expert was also full of praise for the Truefitt and Hill 1805 shaving cream.

He said: “Truefitt & Hill has been in the barbering business for over 200 years, so you can imagine they know a thing or two about shaving. In fact, they’ve been operating a barbershop on St. James Street in London since 1805.

Truefitt & Hill 1805 is one of Dave's favourite shaving creams

”Their 1805 Shaving Cream creates a rich, luxurious lather and has plenty of great lubrication for a close, smooth shave. While their most popular 1805 Shaving Cream has a very clean, fresh fragrance, their Lavender Shaving Cream is one of my personal favourites with it’s rich, earthy fragrance. This product works well with or without a shaving brush.”

Shaving Shack now stocking Ikon Bulldog ‘Deluxe’ Stainless Steel Safety Razor

The Shaving Shack is delighted to announce that we are stocking the luxurious Ikon Bulldog ‘Deluxe’ Stainless Steel Safety Razor.

These razors were born out of one man’s desire to have a solid stainless steel safety razor made to his own exacting standards.

The Ikon Bulldog 'Deluxe' Stainless Steel Safety Razor

This has turned into a company producing what many consider the best quality artisan razors money can buy.

Each piece is handcrafted with attention to detail given to every aspect of production. This razor, the ‘deluxe’ version of the Ikon Bulldog three-piece safety razor, is no exception.

The Ikon Bulldog Deluxe, priced at £99.99 on The Shaving Shack, is a precisely engineered and CNC machined version offering much finer detail achieved by machining each and every finger of the open comb into the stainless steel.

The knurling on the handle is flawless, an indicator of a quality production process. It provides a secure grip and with the weightiness of the razor it feels like a proper manly cutting tool.

Most safety razors are metal with a nickel or chrome plate finish, whereas this razor is made entirely of stainless steel - it will not flake, peel, wear down, or rust like other metals. The fantastic finish, which had us fooled into believing it was chrome, is achieved by lengthy hand polishing.

Each piece is handcrafted with attention to detail given to every aspect of production

US wet shaving expert Mike Sandoval, from Shaving101.com, recently reviewed the standard version of this razor.

He said: ”Like the popular Feather All Stainless and PILS Safety Razor, the Ikon Bulldog is a precisely engineered and machined double-edge razor. All three razors are made with quality stainless steel and they all implement strict tolerances that allow the blade to seat securely in the razor with precise blade exposure on both sides of the cutting head.

”However, while the other razors boast modern designs, the Ikon maintains a traditional style that has resonated with wetshavers since the early Gillette models of the 1900s. Ikon has successfully combined modern engineering with traditional design.”

Mike then went on to describe how his first shave with the razor went. “For my first shave I used a BIC blade, which I find to provide a great balance between sharpness and comfort on my skin. Throughout the shave, I could not even feel the blade on my face at all and was surprised to find no stubble. The razor cut smoothly and efficiently.

The Ikon Bulldog Deluxe is priced at £99.99 on The Shaving Shack website

”For subsequent shaves, I moved up to a Feather blade with the same results - very comfortable shave with no harshness or irritation at all. To further test the razor, my teenage son also shaved with it. Despite his areas of acne, the mild cutting action worked well for him and he did not get any cuts or nicks during his shave. This razor proved itself to be outstanding for his sensitive skin and light hair, as well as my normal skin and coarser beard.”

He concluded his review by saying: “The Ikon Bulldog Safety Razor represents the excellence of the new class of stainless steel safety razors. The heft and precision construction of these razors have forever changed the shaving industry and raised the bar on materials, design, and price.”

Soldier’s face ripped off by Lion after shaving stunt goes wrong

December 17, 2010 · Posted in Shaving in the News, The Bluebeards Revenge · Comment

I have just been reading The Bluebeards Revenge blog (as I do most Friday afternoons) and came across this one. Not sure what to make of it really but thought I would share it. What do you reckon guys? Is this genuine?

TAKEN FROM BLUEBEARDS REVENGE BLOG:

Britain’s manliest man Sacha Harding is under investigation by West County cops after a marketing stunt that saw a soldier’s face ripped off by a lion.

The pair had been taking part in a shaving challenge at Dartmoor Zoo. The soldier fell against the bars of the lion’s cage during the ‘shave off’. It’s thought that the big cat sprayed him in the eyes with urine, which caused him to fall forward, allowing the lion to attack his head and face. His condition is said to be stable although it is not yet clear whether he is off the critical care lists.

Zoo keepers believe the man’s anxiety levels antagonised the animal. They point out that cats are very sensitive to smell and they believe that the lion decided to spray mark the victim to cover this odour. They also point out that he cut himself while taking part in the challenge which may have triggered a blood lust in this powerful beast.

The challenge was being run by ‘The Bluebeards Revenge’ – a shaving cream that is marketed as manly. This was intended to be the first in a series of challenges that would see Sacha Harding take on many different challengers. Now, Health and Safety bosses are checking whether the correct precautions were taken to ensure the stunt was safe. However, the company’s website openly claims to be opposed to ‘over the top health and safety clap trap’. It is expected that this will make it difficult for them to defend their actions.

Sacha Harding became Britain’s Manliest Man after winning a competition run in the Daily Express. 140,000 people voted the professional rugby player to first place. His prize has been to become the face of the shaving cream. A prize that tonight sees him helping Dartmoor Police with their investigation…

Los Angeles’ leading barbershop giving a traditional cut-throat shave using Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream

In this traditional shaving documentary, Vinnie Morey and Trent Magnano talk about how their unique Hollywood barbershop (The Proper Barbershop), a blend of modern art, street culture blended with the traditional and old-fashioned, was born.

They discuss their open razor technique using Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream and how a traditional shave is “one of the last things a man can do to really enjoy a service that is not a manicure and pedicure you can do with your wife”.

The Proper Barbershop was created by Vinnie and Trent as a way of bringing back the classic old-fashioned barbershop to the modern world.

Vinnie and Trent are both very decorated barbers with a driving passion and true respect for the art and tradition of their craft.

“We both realised that there was a huge gap in the Los Angeles men’s grooming community,” said Vinnie. “In our view, too many men have never been to or even seen a real traditional barbershop!

The Proper Barbershop is located on 7950 3rd St. Los Angeles

“With that in mind, we decided to build a barbershop that has never been seen before. It was the most beautiful marriage of modern art, street culture blended with the traditional, old-fashioned barbershop. In that moment, The Proper was born!”

The Proper Barbershop is located on 7950 3rd St. Los Angeles.

“Come in today for a hot towel shave and a real barber’s haircut, and make sure to enjoy our fun-loving, easy-going atmosphere while you’re here,” added Vinnie.

“Relax with an X-Box, watch a funny movie, and have a cold beer in our back lounge. We set out to create the last true safe house for a man to come and enjoy being a man.”

Bluebeards Revenge described as one of the best shaving creams ever

Dave Alexander, grooming editor for About.com, has described The Bluebeards Revenge as a “must-have” product and one of the “best shaving creams” he has ever used.

”This product takes the traditional shaving cream and throws in a little science for a truly outstanding shave,” says the American grooming legend.

Dave, who has been About.com’s Guide to Men’s Hair since 2008, praised the fragrance for being “clean and light”, adding that “the product performed exceptionally well - among the best I’ve ever tried”.

The Bluebeards Revenge can be used right out of the jar without a shaving brush. Of course, I highly recommend using one for maximum effectiveness and lather. In my tests, I tried the product both with and without a brush and the performance and lather were similar,” he explained.

”I enjoy the ritual of shaving, so I used the product with a brush and my trusty double-edge razor. The results were amazing,” added Dave, a licensed master stylist who has been cutting men’s hair for nearly two decades and has trained barbers and stylists across the USA.

Dave described the lather as “rich and creamy”, adding that it “held up during my entire shave”.

”The product left my skin smooth and moisturized to the point I didn’t really feel the need to use a separate moisturizer afterward. I also got an excellent, irritation free shave using The Bluebeard’s Revenge,” Dave Alexander, About.com.

“The cream created a very slick surface on my skin and I experienced no razor drag at all,” he said. “The shave was incredibly close and I got an excellent shave with just one pass of the razor - not something that happens all that often with other shave creams I’ve tried.

”The product left my skin smooth and moisturized to the point I didn’t really feel the need to use a separate moisturizer afterward. I also got an excellent, irritation free shave using The Bluebeard’s Revenge.”

But would Dave recommend the Bluebeards to his readers? “Absolutely. The performance was on par with some of the best shave creams I’ve tried (in fact, it now tops that list),” he said.

“Great performance, cool packaging, paraben-free. What’s not to love?”
