This new brush has been manufactured to the highest standards to meet the needs of soap lovers who require a stiffer brush to create the perfect lather. Progress Vulfix, esteemed shaving brush manufacturers, have filled this brush with the highest quality and carefully graded pure badger hair. Pure badger hair is regarded as the quality benchmark by many shaving brush manufacturers, and the hair used in this brush is dark and silver in appearance which immediately identifies it as being pure and above average standard.
Slightly firmer to the touch, this grade of hair gently exfoliates the skin prior to shaving, it has excellent water retention properties and will provide you with quality shaves for many years to come.
We feel this brush is an excellent introduction to quality shaving brushes.
Have any burning questions you would like ask our wet shaving expert Aaron Wolfenbarger? Is shaving lather really important?, Should I shave with or against the grain? What causes razor bumps and how can I get rid of them? Feel free to ask any pressing question you want answering.
Author: Paul G An excellent brush, really lathers up well and feels great across the skin. Had mine for about a month now and its still in tip-top shape. Helps move my daily shave closer to 'pleasure' and away from 'chore'!
Author: Mark Woodcock This is a superb brush for the money. Very dense but not hard on the skin. Lathers soap very well but I have also used it with cream so a good all round brush. I had a synthetic brush before this and there really is no comparison. 10/10
Author: Siamak Dabirrahmani I've been thinking about a badger brush for some time, after speaking to Dan I decided to go ahead with this one.
This brush is a quality product at a very reasonable price,it lathers up well and very kind to the face.
Great service and quick delivery from shaving shack.
Many thanks
James
Author: Elliot Winter For what you pay, It's a great entry into badger brush shaving. Holding plenty of water and having lots of backbone, it deals with soaps a treat.
However, It's not nearly as soft on the face as a properly broken in boar brush, which can often be found for a little less.
Or a better badger can be found for a little more.
I love this brush, and it would be great for anyone who lathers in a bowl, but if it broke soon, I'd replace it with a slightly more expensive brush.
Author: Demian Stimson After reading other reviews on Shaving Shack prior to buying this brush, I was slightly disappointed with this when it arrived.
Positives first: the price is good, it hasn't lost a hair and it's certainly a huge improvement on any synthetic brush. It holds water well, mixes up a good lather and is kind to the face.
My disappointments are various. The description specifically mentions a stiffer brush for soap but I find it noticeably less stiff than my other, older (also pure) badger brush which made no such claims about stiffness. When applying lather to the face, I find that the bristles splay out in an unsatisfactory way - of course all brushes will splay but my other brush splays so that the tips are still pointing to and massaging my face as the lather is applied. The Vulfix 660 splays so that the tips curve away and the shafts are in contact with my face, simultaneously a less pleasant experience and less effect in terms of lather application. Finally, the plastic handle is too light in the hand and feels cheap.
Most of these disappointments arise from perhaps unfair comparison with my other brush which was slightly more expensive several years ago - I'm sure that if this was the first badger brush I'd tried I would be very satisfied with it. If you've already got a pure badger brush and are looking for something different to what you're used to, you might want to keep looking.
Author: Leo This is definitely a good brush for the price. The pros are it holds a plenty of water and lather enough for 4 passes. I also lathers soap very quickly. This brush lost quite a bit of hair the first 5 times I used it. Hasn't lost any hair since. It took about 2 weeks for this brush to really break in. At first it felt quite rough on my face. I prefer cup lathering over face lathering with this brush since the hairs are a little too rough for face lathering even after breaking in.
Author: Russell This was first serious purchase of a shaving brush and was initially pleased with its performance. However the brush very quickly start to lose hairs and within 18 months was unusable. Very disappointed.
