Review: Cannot recommend these blades enough!
They are considered the sharpest blades out there, by many DE enthusiasts...
They are on the agressive side, so have that in mind.
These blades are among my personal favorites.
Review: I'd been using shaving cream for some time after unsatisfactory results from high street brand soaps. But I was intrigued by the reviews for this so I decided to give it a go. It is very nice! It has a neutral, old-fashioned smell that's quite pleasant and won't overpower your cologne. Despite its reputation for being hard to lather I found it easy to whip up, even using a soft super-badger brush. The lather is very creamy with none of the chalkiness of more synthetic soaps. It helps the razor glide very nicely and leaves me with a nice close shave with no rash or nicks. I can't claim that it's so moisturising that I don't need aftershave balm, but it does feel good for the skin. And... it's just a lovely concept too: a natural traditional soap made by an old, small British company. This is great value for money and I'll definitely buy it again.
Review: Just lovely! This was the first proper DE razor that I bought after trying out a highstreet own-brand and a couple of cheap vintage razors. Frankly I can't see why anyone would want to buy another razor after this. It's got a lovely weight to it and fits nicely in your hand, which allows you to shave confidently. It manages to be mild and yet very effective, my number of nicks dropped to almost zero as soon as I started using it. It looks wondeful too and the chrome is gorgeous. Mine did lose a bit of plating on the cap, but Edwin Jagger replaced this immediately under warranty so top marks for customer service.
I really can't recommend this highly enough, it's the best 22 I've spent in a long time.

Product: Merkur 33C Classic Double Edge Razor
Review: I bought this razor on the sunday night and received by the wednesday morning.
I am 27 and have been shaving since i was about 14 and i have always suffered from razor burn and ingrown hairs. I thought i had tried everything but then i stumbled across safety razors, which would apparently be easier on the skin compared to cartridge blades. Also the price difference between blades and cartridges is unbelievable.
As soon as i got the razor i went for a shave, i was pretty nervous as i didnt want to cut myself but i had watched a few videos and followed the advice of "let the weight of the head to the work".
So i didnt press on, just let the blade do the work and it worked a dream. I had the closet shave ive ever had, no razor burn on my neck at all. Normaly the day after my neck feels really sore and sometimes get yellow spots, well none of that just a super soft face.
Best investment I've ever had, i will be a wet shaver for life now

Review: I was a bit sceptical before I tried using an alum block, but it is now a key part of my shaving routine. Warm shower, wet shave, warm flannel to rinse, cold water splash and alum block = perfect shave.
Useful as a newcomer to DE shaving, as any sting will give you an idea of where you were too aggressive. Takes care of any minor nicks.
Review: As a new DE shaver, I opted for this after deciding between the DE89L and the similar Merkur 34C - I was not disappointed! You can feel the quality, and the lined version is easy to grip with wet hands. It's short enough to hold comfortably in one hand, but heavy enough that you don't need to apply any pressure to get a good shave. I partnered it with some Derby blades, but have just ordered some Feathers and Israeli blades to try out.

Product: Merkur 38C Barberpole
Review: Recently I had been suffering from an increasing problem with ingrown hairs, which I concluded were as a result of shaving. While searching for a solution I found this website and realised the world had moved on, ironically ,with regards to the advantages of traditional shaving. The 38C was my first DE razor purchase.
I bought the 38C as I liked the idea of the longer handle, it fits in my hand well and does not slip. The blades are easy to change, it feels good quality and I expect it will last a lifetime if looked after correctly. I was however disappointed with the throw away cardboard packaging box.
Having never used a DE razor before I had a very tentative first shave but with no cuts. Each shave now gets better and I greatly appreciate the weight in my hand. To be honest I now feel rather silly that I had been using 3blade cartridges (bought for convenience with the weekly supermarket shop) for the last 20 years. With most things in life I research and then do some more research, so how the disadvantage of multi-blade cartridges and benefits of single blade razors escaped me I'll never know. At least I can pass this knowledge down to my son.
I have now been shaving with this for around 3 weeks and haven't suffered from an ingrown hair since. I haven't suffered with a cut or nick yet but I haven't attempted any really close shaves as I do not want ingrown hairs to return. I am shaving a little closer each time, waiting to see if I develop any ingrown hairs then moving onto a closer shave. It seems easy to control the angle and I look forward to improving each shave. I am also looking forward to trying some new soaps and different blades.
I bought wilkinson sword blades to use with this razor as I believed they were middle-road, they do a good job for me. I came back to shaving-shack to purchase some feather blades and also some woolfat soap and decided to stop by and write this review in the meantime.

On opening the box was surprised at how weighty the razor was, but without feeling unwieldy, feels like a quality product. Review: What a fantastic razor! I started DE shaving a short while ago with an inexpensive razor to see how I got on. I liked it and decided to upgrade to a more serious bit of kit. The choice came down to two different razors and I chose this one. From the moment of opening the box I knew I had made the right choice. The razor is heavier than my inexpensive one and has a beautiful finish. The extra weight really makes it shine and even with my first shave, the results were excellent. Dont worry about the smooth handle looking slippery, for some reason it isn't. This is a super product that performs excellently and looks great!

Review: I bought this soap due to it's great rating and reviews on this site as a relatively recent convert to soap and brush shaving from canned foam. Although the foam I used was a good quality one I found that this soap really does make a big difference to the closeness of my shaves. I bought a large flat bottomed coffee mug from a local charity shop to use with this soap and it fits perfectly. I've used it twice with a really cheap bristle brush that I bought for a couple of pounds from a well known discount household chain and have found I get enough creamy thick lather for probably 5 passes never mind 3! I actually ended up having to wash plenty of lather away! It leaves my skin feeling agreeably moisturised and my second shave with it, when combined with my trusty Merkur 34 loaded with a truly formidable feather double edged blade, was about as close as any I've ever had.
Thank you to all at Shaving Shack for providing me with great products at excellent prices that really have started me looking forward to shaving!

Review: first off congrats to the dispatch team at the shack, ordered my FaTip Piccolo Open Comb Double Edge Razor on tuesday, knock on the door on wednesday it had landed outstanding.
now the razor, what a piece of work small but then my paws are huge good grip on the handle , i was aware it could be a close cutter so i loaded a feather blade and latherd up, first thing that struck me was that satisfying rasping sound as the razor took on my overnight growth, the kind that knackers a feather blade in two days, normally i need a three pass shave and
several other passes on the chin area to clean the stubble off, but this little beast did it in two with no chin clean up, also when i used the alum block to finish i became aware of the tingle once again,
so to sum up this is a razor for men and grizzled veterans and not for boys , outstand shack outstanding.

Review: Smooth, elegant, sophisticated and so handsome looking! Well enough of me, lets talk about this razor. When you pick this beauty up and hold it to your face, you will know that this is true quality. The sheer weight of this stylish razor does the hard work for you .no extra pressure needed as it glides the contours of the face. This German precision coupled with a Derby blade is an awesome combination.
If you have a hectic lifestyle and everything runs at a frantic pace, then you may want to stick with the dull multi blade razors, but my Fusion is now relegated in favour of a more leisurely and enjoyable shavecos Im worth it!. Well, if this approach to shaving system is good enough for Daniel Craig in Skyfall, then its good enough for me!
Following the friendly advice given so readily by the Shaving Shack team over the phone, I actually went for this more expensive 38C Merkur option. I agree that with such quality you get what you pay for, and yet isnt it good to know that youll not only have an enjoyable and close shave but also save money in the longer term thanks to the wide variety of inexpensive DE blades available from Shaving Shack.
I could tell you this is one of the best DE razors available, but I would rather leave this for you to find out yourself. If you dont end up with a super smooth face then the chances are you may not be using the shaving process to your best advantage thankfully youll find many Youtube videos to guide you through a new experience.
As if this wasnt enough, youll then find yourself lured into the Aladdins cave of shaving goodies to supplement the Merkur as you obsessively peruse the Shaving Shack website!

I've heard many people saying that it can take some time for your skin to become used to DE shaving, but I found the transition to be no problem at all. Review: This is great stuff. The scent is nice while shaving, but dies off fairly quickly so you're not getting a clash with your aftershave or fragrance, and it produces creamy, slick lather. A word of advice is to use a good boar brush with this. It works well with a badger, but when paired with a boar, this stuff comes into it's own and makes a ridiculously slick, lubricating, moisturising lather. It can be a fairly thirsty soap, so don't be afraid of giving it some water

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
Review: This is a very nice deodorant, the scent is discrete, and the silver chloride prevents bacterial growth and resulting odour from the apocrine sweat in the armpit.
I ordered a few of these to use as small presents for friends and family, upon receiving them (took three days from the UK to Denmark, pretty fast and good service in my oppinion) I just took them out of the box and put them in a cupboard. on was lying down, the rest was standing upright. The one lying down leaked all over the box, for no apparent reason. And now it is not leaking. My theory is that the presure in the container increased when it was heated from cold to room-temperature, and because it was lying down it was possible for the increased pressure to force out some of the deodorant.
Store it upright when you get it, and it is probably not advisable to put it in hold-baggage when you go flying.
Review: Absolutely one of the best razors to start with. Well crafted, Excellent price! This Edwin Jagger is worth every penny. Don't try to start with a vintage razor. This piece of art is cheap enough to give DE shaving a try without a high starting price.

Review: These creams are set at a good price point and within reach, which is good. The cream whips up well and provides effective cushion / glide and is nice to use. I would have liked to have smelt much more lavender scent here, however, and didn't think the fragrance was 'in there' enough. Perhaps a bit too subtle? If you compare this with Progress Vulfix Lavender for example - that cream has a much bigger lavender scent and is a better overall product in my view.

Product: Truefitt & Hill West Indian Limes Shaving Cream Bowl (190g)
Review: A marvellous shaving cream with a bright, invigorating fragrance which smells great. I mix it with a bowl, Kent BK8 badger brush and it whips up into a thick, smooth lather which easily provides enough for 3 - 4 passes with my Merkur Futur DE razor. Yes, it may well be more expensive than some of the other creams, however I would regard this as a top line product and one to put on the Christmas wish list!

Product: City Style Wash Bag (Large)
Review: Really nice, smart wash bag. The picture doesn't do the pinstripe design justice. Plenty of room for all toiletries and nicely compartmentalised.
Review: Everything I expected from an Edwin Jagger razor. Looks awsome, especially with matching Chatsworth brush and stand, comfortable size and good weight. I'd recommend this razor to both a seasoned wet shaver and a beginner
Review: When it comes to DE shaving I'm a cheapskate. My razor, a vintage Gillette is a hand me down, I had a nice badgers brush for Xmas last year and my soap is the bog standard Wilkinson Sword (the one in the blue tub) so fair to say Im getting my value for money. I splashed out on this and Im glad I did, the soap doesnt dry out halfway through the shave, it is easy to lather up (just don't use too much water) and has a nice smell to it. With this soap only a couple of quid more that the Wilkinson Sword offering there is a world of difference between the two soaps. When it runs out I could be tempted to splash out the extra for the ceramic pot.

Product: Taylor of Old Bond St Shaving Cream (Rose 150g)
Review: Absolutely beautiful shaving cream. I have tried a few other brands of shaving cream and other TOBS shaving creams. This, by far, is my favourite. Makes a great lather, very smooth and it results in my razor simply gliding over my face. I can't see anything beating this.

Product: Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic
Review: Really nice little razor. After I realised that the 34c was voted 'Best Razor in the World' by About.com readers I knew that I had to at some point add it to my collection of razors.
It is a great little razor. Very convenient for traveling due to it's small size. It is satisfyingly aggressive and produces a great shave. I don't use it every day but when I do it is a treat.
Review: If I may be controversial and go against the grain (no pun intended), I found these to be one of the worst blades I've used. Maybe it's because I'm used to another type but first time out I got razor burn, irritation and a lot of nicks and to top it off, the shave wasn't as close as my electric which I'll be using to tidy up my shave when the soreness dies down. I'll give the blade another go with a different soap but first impressions aren't good.

Product: Proraso Shave Cut Healing Gel (10ml)
Review: Bought this with my Parker shavette. Being totally new to straight shaving I had no doubt I was going to cut myself. First shave, 3 cuts. Applied this product and the bleeding stopped. Works great. You don't even need to use a lot. Only a tiny bit for each cut to work its magic. I'm sure this will last me a very long time.

Product: Parker 31R Stainless Steel All Metal Shavette (SR1)
Review: Ordered this shavette and received it 2 days later. I'm new to straight shaving so thought I try out a shavette before going for the real thing. I have to say, the razor feels and looks good. Not flimsy at all. Managed to cut myself 3 times while shaving but that was because of inexperience. I'm sure that will change soon enough with practise. Using this razor made my morning shaving ritual a real pleasant experience.

Product: Merkur Futur 760 Adjustable Safety Razor with Satin Chrome Finish (Gift Tin and 10 Merkur DE Blades)
Review: Quite possibly the best adjustable razor ever invented with a multitude of settings to suit
Stick it on a 6 & it shaves something similar to a R41 but a lot easier
Stick it on a 1 for a shave like a FatBoy on a 6
& on a 1.5 for a shave similar to a DE89/R89 etc
Just buy it you wont regret it!

Review: First straight razor ever. I fancied trying the traditional shave but did want to fork out too much. The razor gave me a very close shave I'm very happy with it. It's easy to Load the blades and the build quality is good. I would recommend this to someone wishing to try a straight razor like I did.

Product: Taylor of Old Bond St Shaving Cream (Avocado 150g)
Review: This is my first proper shaving cream and as others have said it is a world away from the can of blue foamy gel goo....
I went for the Taylor's after reading lots of recommendations on the web and comparing the reviews to the cost. The Avocado in particular seemed to be getting good shout outs and I liked the idea of a fresh but subtle smell....
Again as it my first proper cream I have nothing but the goo to compare with so this is aimed at reassuring a newbie rather than a critical review of the product.
Lathers up easily with only a small finger tip full of cream. The lather feels so much nicer on the face than the goo and when worked in to the face with a good brush (see Shaving Shack Buccaneer pure badger brush) provides a great cushion for the shave.
The sent is very subtle, like others I get cucumber....will be great for the summer. For the winter I think I would like something a bit heavier though so will be trying one of the other TOBS creams soon....I would buy again but as there are so many others out their to try, it might be a while before I do.

Product: Shaving Shack "Buccaneer" Pure Badger Shaving Brush
Review: This is my first brush to go along with my first order of DE razor supplies.
I wanted a badger brush as I have read that badger is the easiest to whip up a lather with. I also wanted to try to keep costs down and not do my normal approach of upping the budget and ending up with something I probably didn't need. So pure badger it was..
Not having used a shaving brush before I didn't really know what to expect or have anything to compare it to...It seems to be a good quality item that can whip up a shaving cream very quickly. No hair loss and is soft while at the same time feeling strong enough to 'work' the skin a bit.
Very glad I was sensible and went for this as for now its all I need for a great shave.
Review: This is my first DE razor. I have come to this, like many, after getting fed up with the cost of cartridge blade prices. Now that I have discovered the myriad creams, balms and splashes though I'm not sure I will save much, but that's no bad thing as its value for money that matters to me. If you are on a budget though you could save a fortune!
I have now been using the DE89 for a week now and am a changed person. I hated shaving, I have used all types of multi blade razors and went for the next new one hoping it would be better than the last and not make my face feel like I have just ran a fine grade of sand paper over my cheeks. I have always suffered with a very sore neck, so much so I try to go as long in between shaving as I can often nearly a week (I can get away with it in my line of work) until the dreaded itching came along and off I went to torture my face again.
Not so with the DE, I now positively look forward to shaving, yes there is a bit of novelty value at the moment but my face feels fantastic afterwards. No more sandpapered face and no sore irritated neck in between shaves....
I have been using the DE89 with the supplied Derby blades while I learn my technique. I am very happy with the razor and not disappointed in any way...I was a little worried about the smooth grip but I haven't had any problems. I have only had a few very small nicks and I can feel the shave getting better as I lean the technique over the last few shaves (shaving much more now!)
While this review is of little use to an experienced DE user, I wanted to share my experience with anyone thinking about buying a DE for the first time like me. Go for it!
As it can seem a bit overwhelming getting started this is what I bought (after a lot of research) to get myself going

Product: Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream for Ultra Sensitive Skin (100ml)
Review: The cream is very pleasant, smooth and is easily applied to face and absorbs into skin well. I use this specifically as a pre-shave product, before using a shaving brush with cream. It definitely makes shaving with a DE razor a tad easier and reduces risks of cuts and nicks with additional skin protection. A jar lasts me over 3 months and that's with almost daily shaving. Excellent product and highly recommended.

Product: Dovo of Solingen Shavette (Polished Steel)
Review: Having used another shavette I decided to upgrade to this dovo one and it is really excellent. The build quality is outstanding and the low profile blade holder makes under my nose very easy compared to my old razor. It is fairly light yet I feel this makes it more nimble as difficult areas under the chin seem to now be very easy. The rounded edge of the blade holder is a nice touch too to reduce accidents.Comes with blades and extra black holder for long blades. Highly reccomended! Spoke to Dan at shaving shack- extremely helpful!

Product: Parker Model 96 "Daytona" Metal Safety Razor with Black and Chrome Finish
Review: just had my first shave with this razor and am really impressed.
I bought it to replace a cheap plastic razor and the difference is fantastic. Really like the weight of it in hand, the butterfly opening is effortless and easy to change a blade and I found the handle had a really good grip - as I had been put off other razors by the smooth handle
I personally think it also looks fantastic and could easily be mistaken for a much more expensive razor - highly recommend this to all new DE shavers
Review: At 37 I took the plunge into the world of DE razors. I did a lot of research and settled on this razor. It did not disappoint. I wish I had done this years ago. I shave only every 3-4 days and I have quite coarse hair, but this razor (with Feather blades) is superb. No more razor burn, no more ingrown hair. My ONLY niggle is, as others have said, the handle can be quite slippery when wet. Otherwise, a massive thank you to Edwin Jagger!
Review: I was soooo impressed with this razor, I was fed up with the cartridge razors and decided to go DE. No regrets .It is a lovely razor not too agressive, will last a lifetime.I was a little worried a smooth handle would be slippy when wet but I have to be honest I haven't found it so.
