Review: I have been a hairdresser for 38 years & recently decided to go back to my roots ( excuse the pun ) & focus more on my ( rusty ) barbering skills . I have a variety of razors at my disposal but decided to go with the Dovo ! It is a little light but does a great job the red insert that holds the blade covers the end corner & eliminates the chance of causing an accidental nick this is very good for me as I am training an apprentice in its use . I started useing it to shape up hair lines & used it today for a full shave on a client & it performed very well indeed .overal it's a well made shavette that is easy to use & has been well designed .

Product: Derby Extra Double Edged Razor blades
Review: Only a three I'm afraid. Although sharp and good value their longevity is their big downfall for me. One shave of two passes (one with, one against) and the subsequent pulling on the next shave makes shaving a distinct chore. As single use blades they are actually rather good.
Review: Being completely new to DE shaving, I have held off writing a review on my razor until I felt I accumulated enough experience to give a worthwhile opinion (hopefully!). I purchased it just after Christmas and have used it every day since. Firstly, it is solid and well made with no rough edges or faults in the finish. I had no idea what setting to use it on or which blades to use, so I bought a sample pack and have been steadily working my way through them. I have a frustrating combination of very sensitive skin and a thick, coarse beard which has always been difficult to remove and have tried most of the mass market disposables and a couple of different electric razors over the last 30 years. As my technique has improved, my shaving experience has got better, to the point where my face now feels smoother at 10.00pm than it used to straight after shaving with a cartridge razor!
I am currently using Derby blades on No2 setting. I started with Wilkinson Sword and it was a blood bath but I will try them again because I am sure that not only have I learnt how to use the razor properly now, there will also have been a degree of aclimatization for the skin on my face. The only blades that I don't think I will try again are Treet, they seem to go blunt after only two shaves.
This razor will last years and I am delighted with it.

Product: RazorPit Blade Sharpener
Review: Paradoxically I bought this because I've started using a straight razor. In the early days, I'm using a cartridge razor for the chin and upper lip, and also a cartridge for the whole shave if I'm pressed for time.
One cartridge has lasted me a full month, when normally I'd expect 5 days or 7 at most. And that;s using pre-shave oil, which normally clogs blades almost instantly. It's just started to drag a bit, but if I was being economical I could make it last even longer.
So for me, the Razorpit gives 5 or 6 cartridges for the price of one.

Product: Lord Metal Double Edge Safety Razor
Review: Always having used either cartridge razors or electric shavers, I had the urge to do the job properly at the ripe old age of 46! Not having a clue what to get, I bought this cheap razor and a selection pack of blades. The razor itself is quite light and has a long handle. My first efforts were quite frightening but within three shaves I was achieving a great shave without nicks. I would recommend this razor, not just for 'testing the water' but as an every day razor. It's not bright and shiny like some other razors but it gets the job done and at the price you can't go wrong!
Review: I have been using Wilkinson or Derby blades for the last 18 months with pleasing results. I decided to try these due to the sheer volume of positive reviews. Maybe it's just the way I shave, maybe they do not pair well with the Edwin Jagger razor I use, but these blades did not meet the expectation generated! I find I need about four passes to get anything remotely smooth, I struggle to get a close shave under the nose and I also seem to find a small later in the day that feels rough. I may be the fly in the ointment here, but I am going to give these a miss in future.

Product: Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream for Ultra Sensitive Skin (100ml)
Review: This stuff is superb both as a pre shave cream and an aftershave balm. Very nice scent and you don't need much so will last for quite a while. I find you really need to rub it in well otherwise I get left with a white residue on parts of my face, but no real issue. Highly recommended
Review: I used some Derby blades to begin with but couldn't get on with them so tried these and for me the difference was night and day. Very sharp, but haven't had any bad cuts and feel much nicer and more comfortable being so sharp. I nailed down my technique using these so don't be put off by the fact they are sharp and what some people may say about learning with them. I found I had more confidence using these than the Derby blades so would highly recommend.

Product: Men-U Barbiere Shaving Brush, Stand and Shaving Creme (Black)
Review: A pretty good brush that comes with a drip stand and some cream out of the box so a good starting point for new shavers. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the included cream. It has a strange cooling sensation on the skin (presumably from the essential oils) and whilst this isn't massively irritating, it felt a little unusual. It doesn't seem to go as far as some other creams too and requires a bit more of it to get a good lather. I would still recommend this set however as even without the cream it would represent great value for money.
Review: Just bought this as my first Double Edge after years of multi blades and I'm so glad I did. It's a very comfortable razor, it feels solidly built and sits nicely in the hand. The shave is smooth and irritation was considerably reduced compared to a cartridge razor when paired with a Wilkinson Sword blade. I would thoroughly recommend this razor to anyone.
Review: All I can say is how impressed I am with the quality of the razor and how it performs. Letting the weight of the razor glide across my face gives perfect results. Feeling instantly at ease using this DE razor after years of cartridge razors. I look forward to many years of pleasurable shaving.

Review: I bought this to replace a cheapo boots DE razor. I started DE shaving after seeing the price of a pack of M3 blades. This is a nice step up from the boots razor. The weight suits me well and it shaves well without tearing me up, so the aggression seems good for the early stages I'm at, I've got less trapped hairs than I was experiencing with the M3 too. There are a few blemishes under the chrome, but nothing too bad.

Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: Just opened my second ever tub of this and disappointed. First was really refreshing to use, great scent and feel. This one still gives a great shave but no zing to it. Just like a good soap. I want more eucalyptus that's why I buy this!
Review: To begin: The Edwin Jagger DE 89LBL looks very English and racy, perhaps Aston Martin-esque.
This is an exceptionally beautiful item. The chrome is immaculate, the fluting on the handle flawless and the "EDWIN JAGGER" etched on the collar screams quality. Being English however, it screams it quietly. I compared the build quality to a blue Merkur 38141 belonging to a friend and the Jagger was, not much but just, better built.
So, to the shave: the razor was a Christmas present from my wife, having despaired of a five blade Azor as being incapable of shaving anything to any degree of satisfaction. I conducted severe research into DE after 30ish years of cartridge nonsense. The I sold her the idea and waited (patchily shaved) until Christmas - thanks Shaving Shack for delivering.
In my house it s traditional to drink too much so on (late) Christmas morning when I said "Time to shave!" the party was well under way and the assembled throng, I think, expected me to arrive back after an encounter with Freddy Krueger.
So, to the shave, again: the razor felt comfortably heavy in my hand - always an indication of quality, cheap things are light. Fitted the (free) Derby blade and had the best shave I can remember . No soreness (I have very sensitive skin), no missed patches. The Jagger, described as medium aggressive, delivers an excellent shave. It feels very mild to me in terms of not feeling like I have had hairs pulled/ripped from my face.
Overall then this is a superb razor at a remarkable price, far cheaper than Merkur, Bluebeard's Revenge and so on. God bless you Mr Jagger, carry on the good work!
Review: This was my first de razor and I think it's superb. The level of workmanship on it is amazing for the price. It's a nice weight and requires zero pressure as it just glides perfectly. Easy to change the blades and to clean. I use it with Feather blades and find it gives a very close shave once the technique is perfected. Highly recommended for beginners and I won't be changing any time soon.

Review: Purchased one of these to add to my new collection of wet shave gear. First up I was surprised by the size of it...I was expecting something the size of a soap bar from the photo..but it's really small...not much larger than a matchbox!
Having said that, don't be fooled! It's amazing!
I jumped straight in after my shaves and opted to use it for a complete after shave treatment rather than just to stop the bleeding of occasional nicks.
I have psoriasis so a cut is something I would expect no matter how careful I am..and with my new shavette they are a certainty!
I shaved, rinsed with warm and then cold water and then dipped the block into water and rubbed it all over my face! WOW! What a rush....sharp tingling followed by an almost menthol cooling! The couple of nicks I had stopped bleeding almost instantly and after I minute or so I could feel the skin on my face tighten! It felt really good! Invigorating, refreshing and calming on any razor burn!
Truly superb and a must have purchase for any wet shave!!

Product: Erasmic Shaving Stick (50g)
Review: I have found that this stick performs better if you shave a bit off and put the shaving in a bowl and make a lather that way rather than adding it straight to your face which is very messy.
Review: I was given this shaving cream recently, and I only have good things to say about it.
First impression when adding an almond sized amount to my shavingbowl was that it is rather strong scented. When lathering up the cream the scent is more subtle, it lathers relatively easy and feels nice and comfortable on the skin.
The scent is discrete, and after shaving people have to get REALLY close to notice it.
During the shave it provides a nice layer of cushioning lather for the razor to glide through, softening the hairs so they're easy to cut through. It doesn't dry out the skin but leaves it moisturised.

Product: Parker 31R Stainless Steel All Metal Shavette (SR1)
Review: First up superb delivery time! ordered at nearly midnight on Sunday and received it Wednesday!
New to straight razor shaving so I thought a shavette to be the safest way to go first time out. I have psoriasis and as such was kind of worried about shaving with a straight edge instead of a safety razor. I bought this shavette because it looked the part. there was a little disappointment when I first held the razor; it seemed light and slightly flimsy...but then I thought about it and figured..exactly what do you need in such a device? im used to the heavy lump that is a Gillette fusion..so to hold a lightweight shavette came as a shock..and looking at it the build quality is acceptable and it does what it says on the tin!
I was mildly worried about snapping razor blades in half to use in the razor but having checked out the guidelines here it was really simple and I didn't lose a single finger in the process! :)
my first shave went without major incident and without a call to the paramedics and im sure that with practice I will be happily shaving away!
all in all a great product; at a great price from a great company!
if you have ever wished to try straight razor shaving then this is the way to start!!

Review: What a great blade! I started off using the Derby blades that came with my razor, as it was first go with DE shaving I was impressed - I had some razor burn which I thought was probably down to my inexperience (and could have partly been). However following recommendations on here, and from some friends, I decided to try the Gillette 7 o'clock Sharp Edge - initially I was reluctant to get them reading comments like 'very sharp blades' I thought I might hack myself to pieces! I need not have worried as I found this sharpness just makes the shave easier. From the first pass on my face I was immediately impressed - a nice smooth easy cut and no razor burn. I've also got 5 shaves from one blade, particularly if using daily. That said, at the price these blades are for 100, I'm quite happy to bin them after three shaves, so I know I'm using a blade in 'tip top' condition on my face - try them, I fully expect you won't be disappointed!

Review: Ive never used after shave before, because of the strong scents. After a shave I usually just splash my face with cold water to close the pores. But after reading about the alum block I thought I would give it a go. I noticed people were saying they soak the block, so I did just that before applying to my face. I couldn't really feel anything at first but then on my neck I could feel a slight sting, where i must have gone a bit to close to the skin. Judging by this, i should have got slight shaving rash but instead I got nothing, so I would say this is an essential in any shaving kit. Will teach me to shave better too.

Review: First, the scent. Tarragon, lavender, incense, hints of green galbanum and citrus, and traces of cedar, sandal, patchouli and musk, eh? Well, to me it smells of luxurious old fashioned West End gentleman's hairdressers. Even more important, I offered my latest selection of shaving creams for my wife to select which I should use first. She unhesitatingly picked this one.
And to get down to business, a very modest amount produced plenty of lovely rich lather for a three pass shave. It was kind to the skin and worked well with my Futur/Feather razor combination.
It really lifted the shaving experience a notch. Highly recommended!
Review: I opted to use these for my first ever DE shave, Id read about the 'ninja' sharpness of these blades online so I made sure I was careful and took my time, I was rewarded with no nicks or cuts... just a great shave, I applied no pressure and just allowed the weight of the razor to do the work, so much better and cheaper than a cartridge razor.

I often go 2-3 days between shaves so wanted something to cut through longer beard growth. I was a bit wary about trying an 'open comb' but after reading around was assured to read that I souldn't be any more concerned than with my edwin Jagger closed comb.
First of this thing is definitely petite...but looks great, chrome no where near the level of the EJ but what is....
Loaded up with a shark SS and a full Proraso treatment (green pre/post cream and shaving cream) and off I went. WOW, this thing is close...two passes was equivelent to 3-4 with the EJ the blade angle is almost set for you but extra care with the pressure....

Review: I call these my Ming blades because they really are merciless. I'm pretty much a DE virgin (less than 6 months) and took the advice of many when I first started by trying many different blades, however I tried the Feather Blade first and had a face like a major road accident. On reflection it was all down to technique and my inexperience. I changed to the Shark blade (which is much more forgiving but nowhere near as sharp) and mastered my technique, returning to the feather blade a month ago. I truly haven't looked back since. They are very sharp and give the best shave I have ever had when used with my Merkur 34C. If you're new to DE shaving and are used to pressing down on a cartridge razor in order to get a close shave I'd recommend you leave these alone until you've mastered your technique but once you've cracked that then these badboys are the right tool for the job!

Review: This was the first shaving set that I ever bought. I had seen the BBR shavette in a magazine article and decided to dive into the world of straight razor shaving, unfortunately the shavette was out of stock so I picked the shaving shacks black one instead. I can honestly say after using this set in my routine for a shavette, straight razor and DE razor it really goes with anything!
Pre shave oil - This provides a nice coating to help moisturise your hair before a shave, you don't need alot each time and it works well with other shaving creams as well.
Shaving Cream - The cream is excellent, provides a nice rich lather for me every time and comes in a size that will last for a long while.
Brush - The brush requires a little extra effort to build a nice lather, have tried it with a soap and this seams to work easier than a cream. Has a strange not unpleasant smell till after the third or so use, for the price you can't complain, does what it is supposed to.
Post Shave Balm - After shaving I always use this as I find it keeps my face moisturised for longer than other brands. Provides a nice soothing feeling after using an alum block etc.
Roll on - After using this for a week my fiance bought me the blue beards revenge aftershave cologne because she liked the smell so much. Use this roll on though and everyone starts asking what deodorant you have so they can get hold of some.
All in all this is a great starter set or a great way to stock up on what you are running low on, don't worry about getting an extra brush its a great spare to use in a travel kit.

Great weight to it and a good grip even when wet. I used the standard sample blade that came with it and the Proraso Ultra-Sensitive Shaving Cream. Turned out to be a great combination, so much so after an initial with the grain pass and then across, I thought, in for a penny in for a pound and proceeded with a final pass against the grain. The result was a really smooth shave, much better than any multi razor system I've tried. A few little nicks after the third pass were quickly eased with the trusty alum block. Definitely recommend this razor, great for a beginner or indeed a seasoned DE user.

Review: Now I know why they call it "The Sledgehammer"! A terrific razor, maybe the heaviest I have ever tried.
I have found it perfect with more rigid blades like Astra, Gillette and Rapira. It didn't work for me with softer blades like Shark or Derby.
Use it with the respect it deserves and the return is astonishing.
Review: My first venture into DE shaving but safe to say my Mach 3 is now consigned to the bin. Easy to use for a beginner, feels good in the hand, easy to clean and change blades. Difficult to fault at the price really.

Product: Kent BK4 Silver Tip Badger Shaving Brush (White)
Review: Excellent brush !!! I went from the BK2 to the BK4 and the difference is amazing, both in terms of quality (no hair falls) and in terms of comfort (truely soft). It lathers my creams in no time even with the thicker of them (the CF and the Edwin Jagger). In terms of durability, I hope it will last long but the reasonable price makes it an excellent choice anyway !
Review: Very good shaving cream with a very pleasant, fresh and original scent. Very pleasing. The cream is quite thick, almost like a soap so it will last long. One true selling point for me is that it is all natural and unlike the Castle Forbes (50ml tub) I have, it contains no paraben. All in all, I really like it and it has a good place in my rotation.
Review: Good shaving cream with a very natural scent. The cream is very thick, so it will last long. My only complaints would be that it contains paraben and I found the lather dries faster than my other creams.
Review: Tried this product as cheaper than my usual, but slightly disappointed after having used Truefitt & Hill. Did not seem to last as long and seems a thinner mix than T&H.; Nice scent to this product.
Review: extreme caution to be taken while using these blades my god they are sharp. saying that they cut so close and easy at there price there a steal..
thank you shaving shack super fast delivery I love the free gift idea and you have saved me so much money thanks once again........all that's left is for me to buy a new soap bowl......

Review: Having looked at many sites trying to determine what razor to get as my first and finding out the other items needed to properly shave and look after my razor I found this kit great, with good quality pieces and everything I needed to get started with straight razor shaving.
The razor does need honing before first use or at least stropping, but for a beginner the razor is great and the customer service and delivery time was fantastic.

Review: Best razor I have ever owned. I have in my collection 3 straight razors and 3 DEs. On daily base I use this one with Feather blade and the result is always one and the same - perfect shave. I have sensitive skin and on the first shave I was very cautious. But hey, it was like walking in the park - zero burns. Just don't forget to apply no pressure at all, only slide the razor on your skin. Enjoy!

Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Tube (150ml)
Review: Another incredible find! This was another 'let's get my order up to 40 for free delivery' addition to my basket! Only one month into DE Shaving, I'd started with a high quality cream (Truefitt & Hill Authentic Ultimate Comfort Shaving Cream Bowl - at 14.99) which is very good and I still have, so I thought I'd add this much cheaper cream to my basket - I wondered how I'd get on with something that is dispensed almost 'toothpaste' style - I shouldn't have worried - it's truely easy - I have found it's easier to measure the quantity you need than a tub - probably my inexperience with a tub, but this is easy - the tube says a 2cm length but I've found less is needed for three very good passes in the average shave. It lathers very easily on the face (using a decent brush of your choice of course) and it lubricates and protects so well. In my opinion this is a 'luxury' cream, and the price of 6.09 is simply nutty....try it, you won't regret it!

Product: Alum Block
Review: After one month of DE Shaving Experience I needed some blades so decided I'd add the Alum Block to my armoury (well might as well get your order up to 40 and get free postage, that's my excuse anyway!)- I'm so glad I did! This has quickly become a firm favourite in my daily shaving routine. At the end of the shave I do a warm rinse, then a cold rinse, then wet the block before running it over my entire shaving area. I'd read it 'finds' anywhere you've maybe gone a bit too close with - apart from the benefits of the Alum itself (you can feel it tightening your face, it's great!).....it also is like a 'meter' to tell you how well you've shaved! Gone a bit too close, it delivers a nice sting to tell you (short lived and provides instant relief). Where I've been pleased is I've studied lots of videos on getting the right blade angle, but now as I've not had too many 'stings' from the block, I'm getting more and more confident my blade angle during shaving is correct, so it's way more than just something to fix your face after a shave! This a fantastic piece of kit (will last forever), just get yourself one, highly recommended!

Review: My introduction into the life of proper shaving, and extremely pleased I am too! Like the weight, very solid. Shorter handle than I was used to only took a couple days of adjustment. Used a Wilko cartridge before now, only shaved because I had to and very rarely felt satisfied with the shave. Now it's such a pleasure I even shave on my days off. I'm excited now at the prospect of getting a slant bar, but this one's a true beaut and always will be even so.
Review: I started with a DE in Nov last year. After reading about the mean edge on them I tried out 5 or 6 other blades before braving the Feathers, many of which were good, but these met my expectations 100%. A beautiful shave indeed, well worth the little extra cost. Minimal irritation, which in any case I know is down to my novice technique, and I feel the care I take with these blades will improve that. But shaving with these makes me feel like a pro.
Review: Got these blades as i read that they are really sharp. Maybe too sharp for a novice, but i found the sharpness to be an advantage, as it cut a lot closer and easier and caused less irritation, if none at all. Feel like I should try other blades as these are the second brand I have tested but will probly stay with these to be honest.

Product: Vulfix Old Original Shaving Cream (Sicilian Lime 225ml)
Review: As a novice DE shaver, I wasn't sure what to expect with this product. I found a tiny amount (the smallest dab on the end of a brush) produces enough thick creamy lather to do a four pass shave so the entire tub should last for months - making this product a real bargain in comparison to aerosol cans of foam. The smell is great and I have had no dryness or irritation of my (sensitive) skin. Highly recommended.
