Review: I have been shaving daily with these for the past week. I am not experiencing the irritation I normally get with other blades. I have previously used Derby, Astra and Feather blades.
Will be ordering the 100 Pack as I have found a new favourite!
Review: Decided to try the traditional way of shaving and bought a poor WS DE razor. After a couple of shaves my face felt good so I thought it best to invest in a proper DE, settling on the DE 89L.
It arrived within 3 days and upon opening the package you can see and feel the quality it holds. Teamed up with the Derby blades, I can't see me ever using a multi blade, expensive cartridge, razor again.

Review: Having experimented with a few blades in my early days of DE shaving I have for the moment settled on the Derby blades.
They are well made give a great shave and are incredibly good value for money, especially if bought in bulk.
I have used the widely recommended feather blades and these are certainly much sharper than the derby blades. However for someone like me who is in their first year of DE shaving the derby are far more suitable as I still have a fair few nicks using the feathers. Perhaps with time this will change but for now the derby are great value and keep me relatively nick free.

Review: I use this razor on the days that I don't have time to strop and use one of my straights.
I started on DE razors 3 years ago with a Merkur 37C slant bar, and launched straight in with Feather blades, I use the Feathers on this Muhle beast too. I don't like any other DE blades, I find I get loads of razor burn and scratches from other blade manufacturers.
The Muhle R41 Grande is a superb bit of kit and one I would heartily recommend. Treat it with respect, don't rush your shave, or apply pressure, like you could with a cartridge razor or you'll be leaking claret for some time. Gives a nice clean shave in one pass, gives a BBS to die for in two!
It was quite disconcerting to hear it shaving the first time I used it, I thought my chin was pretty smooth-ish after 1 pass with a straight, but this made a helluva racket like someone scraping burnt toast and it certainly made sure I was smooth in the chin area afterwards.
Try it, don't be afraid of it, just use a feather-light touch and show off a BBS chin.

Product: Taylor of Old Bond St Shaving Cream (Sandalwood 150g)
Review: This is my first attempt at shaving in a more traditional way. My previous experience is what you'd expect from someone who has grown up watching Gillette commercials and being bombarded with marketing saying "Our product is the best ever shave!".
Well now I've dipped my toes into shaving with a DE razor and seemed to enjoy the experience, I've decided to expand my inventory away from Shaving foam and gel in a can. Firstly i tried products from Lush and BodyShop and then decided to buy this product.
I got to admit even though this is my first "real" shaving cream and I have no experience of other premium brands, this product definitely works very well.
Firstly the packaging is very basic but it does the job. Upon opening, the glorious smell of the product nearly filled the room. My only critique of the smell is that it has a certain "old age" quality, I would have preferred if there is another sandalwood smell from the range that is more modern.
The consistency resembles clotted cream and easily lathers up.
The shave experience is like non-other can cream. The razor just glides over the skin, feels like I'm not even shaving. So comfortable.
After the shave the smell of the product is very subtle and the old age smell does give a luxurious spice that doesn't smell too out of modernity.
I am very happy with this product. I am happy with my new found shaving experience. I am happy with the service also.
Excellent! Can't wait to try other fragrences.

Review: I've been using a wilkinson sword synthetic brush for awhile; then tried a bluebeards bristle...and finally decided to try a badger brush! So I search the Shack and found this. WOW! What a difference a badger brush makes!
Build quality is superb and the brush feels just right in your hand; it has a nice heft to it. The shaping of the bristles is spot on as well! I really can't say enough how good the quality of this brush is! I would suspect you would pay double for a similar brush with a brand name on it!
If you've never used a badger before; don't mess around! Just do it! And this brush is the perfect one to start with!
Review: An excellent subtle scent, reasonable value.for money - this cream gives a great shave and lasts fairly well. I think it would suit a soft brush better than the firmer one i favour as it is far softer than the TOBS cream i usually use. Certainly worth a try though!

Review: Got this as a birthday present for all my increasing stock of shaving stuff!
Quality is superb and there has been alot of thought put into the design and what it can hold.
There are several pockets perfectly suited to straight razors as well as DE razors; you can also fit the bluebeards oil neatly into one pocket ( one would hope by design!). The zip pouch has more than enough room to hold gel, or balm or soap as well as a few bits and bobs!
On top of that the hook that's part of the strap system is super handy for hanging the whole thing up when your shaving; meaning no need to stack things up or balance them about the place as you shave.
All in all a top quality bit of kit like you would expect from Bluebeards Revenge! Superb!

Review: Being somewhat sceptical of the claims made many men's grooming products and being quite happy using my current shaving cream ( Marlbourgh by D R Harris) I couldn't see how this product could be any better. How wrong was I. The smell is modern and clean, the lather is rich and long lasting and my merkur 38c seemed to just glide through my two day growth as if it wasn't there. It also seems to of dramatically reduced the razor burn I suffer from and combined with the shaving balm the results are truly fantastic. I will be buying the full sized jar of this cream as soon as my budget allows and from now on would not hesitate in buying anything from the product range.

My sample arrived this morning so I took the opportunity to test it out after shaving my two day growth of beard. The smell I would describe as clean and modern but that pales into insignificance compared to the results which were fantastic. It feels cool on the skin and relieves the burn almost immediately. I will be buying the full sized jar as soon as my meagre budget allows. Yes it does look a tad slimy in the tub but dries extremely quickly on the skin leaving not stickiness or residue. This is a must have product full stop.

Review: I purchased this comprehensive set for myself after becoming disillusioned with the soaring prices of multiblade razors and quality of the shave they gave.
Individually each item in the set is high quality and the Scimitar razor in particular has a good weight that inspires confidence. Together they work to give a close, smooth shave that doesn't leave a rash or bumps and also adds a feeling of ceremony and classy ritual that makes shaving fun.
I would recommend the set to anyone looking to make the switch from multiblade to DE razor, I also purchased a bowl & pre shave oil to add to the experience but it's not entirely necessary, this kit provides you with everything you essentially need.

Review: At the time of writing this I have just realised I claimed to use a DE89L in my other reviews!!! Silly me.
Anyway, I started off with a Boots own brand DE razor and then I had one of these for Christmas as a present from a friend with the Derby Extra blades. Wow, do I feel posh now...!
Seriously though now, the razor itself looks very posh, stylish and high end with its etching, patterns and chrome finish looking as though it belongs in a high street barber/ stylists salon.
It breaks apart into 3 pieces easily for cleaning and installing a new blade though it does leave the unsharpened edges of the blades a little over exposed for me. The handle is not too long (I think the L model has that luxury) but the weight and length compliment each other and the razor doesn't require much pressure to give you a good shave. I think if you have big hands though you may need a much longer handle.
I think it is a medium razor (not aggressive) and so far I have not had a bad shave with it (the Boots one was a bit more harsh) and I am now trying different blades in it.
This razor compliments Derby Extras quite well for the beginner like me and is a definite worthwhile purchase for those new to DE shaving.

Product: Derby Extra Double Edged Razor blades
Review: I started using these with my Edwin Jagger DE89L and they are the perfect combination for a beginner. The blades are relatively sharp and give a smooth shave but I think they struggle with thicker hairs or a few days growth and can tug a bit unless you properly prepare your face. I have used 4 out of my 5 and enjoyed using them but have now ventured into Astra territory as they seem sharper and I am getting more confident with DE shaving.
I would recommend these blades for a beginner any day of the week, I have blemish prone skin (not sensitive but it can be tempramental) and have only had irritation with these once, which was when I shaved against the grain.
If you are new to DE shaving then make these your first blades to test the water with, you won't be disappointed.

Product: Pure Bristle Shaving Brush (Black)
Review: I bought this to upgrade from my Wilkos own mini shaving brush. So far I am happy as it looks good, is comfortable to hold and the long bristles have quite a bit of stiffness in them so I don't need apply too much pressure on the soap or my face. (Incidentally it does exfoliate my mush quite nicely during the lathering stage)
The brush is of course a black handled pure badger bristle brush and has the Shaving Shack logo on it in white print, which makes it look like an upmarket brush and compliments a chrome or silver razor nicely. The only problem I have had with this (and my previous brush) is that after drying it out, the bristles bend outwards slightly but I don't know if this is something I am doing or not.
A good first purchase for the beginners like me though who don't want to splash out too much but want a bit of style!

Product: Astra Superior Stainless Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: I've been using Derby Extras with my Edwin Jagger DE89L and I was happy with that combination but I decided I would give these a go. At first I was a bit weary because the blades did look a little more agressive than my Derbys and I am still a beginner with DE shaving, which did show when I was left with a few nicks after my first shave with them....... However, I tried again yesterday and took my time and used better technique and I had an excellent and smooth shave as a result (with no cuts). The blade was not overly aggressive and cut my thick whiskers very easily without too many passes compared to my Derbys. I didn't go across or against the grain on my face or neck but still had a a very close shave with a bit of 5'oclock shadow left over (I have everlasting stubble!).
In summary, the blades look good, move over the skin very smoothly and cut very well compared to my Derbys and I wasn't left with any irritation despite the blade feeling much sharper and me having blemish prone skin. I am not putting Derbys down as they have served me well but I noticed an improvement with these blades straight away!

The 1805 scent is hard to describe. It is masculine but not spice or herbal. This cream perfectly resembles the scent of the 1805 cologne and is almost overpowering so not one for people who prefer natural, subtle scented creams.
Review: Bought this after using a Murker Futur for a couple of years. Wasn't happy with the quality of the Merkur, after a while the blades sit at a different angle on each side due to the seat corroding, Murker exchanged on free of charge though to be fair. Anyway onto this, at first I thought it wasn't as good as the Merkur, much less aggressive but I found it to give a much better shave with much less irritation after a bit of technique changing. Brilliant and well worth the money.

Review: After many years of electric shaving I decided to reacquaint myself with wet shaving. I hate the rip off cycle of the expensive razors so decided to try a traditional approach. The Parker 22 is a nice entry level razor, good weight, function and look. Coupled with Derby blades I got a great shave the first time I used it although I think I must have tough bristles as I had to shave against the grain all over to get the closeness I was after.
No cuts or burn even after though it was my fist wet shave in years, and yes as many attest to here it was much closer than any shave I have ever had with one of pro Mach Fusion Mark 33 or whatever. Needless to say I wont be going back!
I will try some Feather blades when theyre back in stock to see if I get a quicker close shave than the Derbys. I also ordered some Ed Pinaud Clubman and Taylors Bay Rum which came this morning., cant wait to try them!
Overall highly recommended as an entry level razor.

If you are not an experienced shaver or are a bleeder, have very sensitive skin, i would be very careful, as these blades are very sharp, great for coarse, heavy beards, Last quite awhile. If you are like me and have a few good quality razors, again, use a lighter razor,as a heavier one 3 oz. could cause problems. does not require any pressure, just let your razor do the work and let it glide across your face. With that out of the way, it's a good product. The menthol effect feels great and I get a very good shave from Proraso. The soap takes longer to lather than the cream but both are good products. If I only had to have one, I'd choose the cream in the tube over the soap in the tub.

Product: Proraso Ultra-Sensitive Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: After trying the normal proraso I decided I would give this sensitive one a try, I have to say if prepared correctly (give it a five minute soak in hot water before trying to lather) it helps prevent razor burn very well. As someone else said its not quite a soap and not quite a cream which is a good thing for beginners. Nice smell but not as good as the standard proraso cream in my opinion.

Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: Had ordered the ultra-sensitive version but my order was lost by royal mail. Shaving shack replied straight away saying that it was now out of stock and would I mind this one? I have to say the smell is very nice. This seems to be somewhere between a soap and a cream, anyway for this price its a must have in your kit.

Product: Lord Super Chrome Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: Tried these out a a couple of orders ago. Not the best shave with these but maybe that's just me. Its an option on the free gifts when your order is over a tenner so worth a try at least :)
Review: After having shaved with a variety of cartidge and disposables for almost twenty years, I thought it was about time I invested in a proper DE razor. The R89 was an easy transition, with a great result from the first shave. Comfortable in the hand, a forgiving shave and a pleasure to look at, this is an ideal first razor. It's going to be some time before I start looking for something else!
Review: These are fantastic blades. I tend to shave after around 4-5 days and previously I have been happy with most blades I've used but these blow all the others out of the water. You really do have to try them. They cut so smooth and very easily even on tough hair. Normally I would do 3-4 passes on my face with other blades but most of the time I can have a perfect shave in 2 passes. I can't recommend them highly enough. I've just bought a whole bunch of them with the multi-purchase discount because I know I don't need to buy any other blade again. I'm seriously impressed.
Review: There is no doubt that the Feather blade is the sharpest blade available but that doesn't automatically make it the best. Many new DE shavers think that they should be using Feather blades because they're the sharpest and will give the best shave.
That's not true. Yes, they're sharp but they're far from being the smoothest and most comfortable blade around and it's not always the sharpest blade that produces a good shave.
I get good results out of Feather blades but I prefer the smoothness of other types. I keep some Feathers in my collection but I don't reach for them very often. I certainly wouldn't use them on a daily basis.
Any blade has the ability to cut you badly and by the nature of their sharpness, Feathers are a little less forgiving than (say) an Astra SP, 7 O'Clock Yellow or Personna Med Prep so they should be treated with respect but not with fear. After all, you're rubbing a piece of cold, sharp steel on your face so you're always going to be careful, right?
I recommend that everyone should have some Feather blades in their collection of shaving equipment but don't consider that you HAVE to use them just because they're the sharpest.

Product: Simpsons Duke Best Badger Brush (D3)
Review: The 'Duke 3' in Best Badger was the first brush I bought after a cheap unbranded badger brush and it's a world apart. I've been using this brush on a daily basis for the last five months and it copes well with everything I do. I started off bowl lathering and it works well with that but it works much better when face lathering, that is applying cream or soap directly onto the brush and then going straight to my face to build the lather.
When new, the tips were quite scritchy but it's softened down with use and still feels very luxurious on my face with plenty of backbone - Just how I like it. I've considered buying another brush, something like a Chubby 2 but then I just pick up my Duke 3, use that and realise that I don't need another brush. I may want one but I don't actually need it.
This is a great Simpsons brush and it doesn't carry the very high price tag of some of the other models. It's not the cheapest either and it's worth every penny.

Product: Taylor of Old Bond St Shaving Shop Aftershave Gel (75ml)
Review: Taylor of Old Bond Street Shaving Shop Aftershave Balm was one of the first aftershave balms I bought and it's still my favourite. The scent isn't too overpowering and doesn't last long so it's a good base for any aftershave splash or cologne you care to use after it. It does have a pleasant scent but it just doesn't linger.
This balm does exactly what it's supposed to. If you have an irritated face after your shave, ToBS balm will really calm it down and that's partly due to the fact that it has no alcohol and because it contains witch hazel. It will leave your face feeling smooth and soft every time.
It also goes a long way, one 75ml tube will last for many months when used daily.

Product: Merkur 39C Slant Bar DE Long Handled Safety Razor
Review: The Merkur 39C is often described as a 'aggressive' razor but a more accurate term would be 'efficient'.
I find it works best with more than two days growth so I generally only use this razor once a week if I skip shaving on a Sunday and it gives fantastic results. There's no need to be scared of the 'sledgehammer', just treat it with respect and you'll get a good, clean and smooth shave.
As with any safety razor, blade choice is essential and I tried at least a dozen blades before I found the best one for me in the Merkur 39C. I now use nothing but Personna Med Prep blades in my razor and the results are excellent. Be prepared to work your way through different blades looking for the best performing one.
The 39C is the same razor head as the 37C except the 39C has a longer and heavier handle. I've used both and prefer the extra weight of the 39C. The only thing I dislike about this razor is the two piece construction. I prefer three piece razors as I find them easier to clean.
Finally, I can recommend this razor to anyone. Be careful (but not cautious) and you'll get the best shaves of your life out of it.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Luxury Shaving Cream (100ml)
Review: This is a fantastic product, I've tried Edwin & Jagger Shave Cream in Sea buckthorn which is also a great product, but I have to say I prefer Bluebeards Revenge, its got a great clean manly smell and lathers up well with only a small quantity of cream which will make it great value. I am so impressed with this product that I am going to order some more from the bluebeards revenge range. I have to point out that I felt very moisturised after the shave too. Great fun & well presented packaging, my wife even commented that the logo was a geat marketing idea. Dont hesitate to buy this product you wont regret it.
Review: First DE razor great feel and weight even for a man like myself with large hands! cut myself once on first shave. has been four months now and no more cuts although I have moved on to the feather blades far more control and superior shave for me with less irritation. The razor is top class though will be investing in a more expensive model in the near future.
Review: Don't let the lack of expense of this brush put you off. It's a great "scrubby" brush, capable of producing good amounts of lather, even from the Wool Fat soap and hard water.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Post Shave Balm (100ml)
Review: tried this for the first time after my shave last night!
Very impressed!
you don't need as much as some other after shave balms: I usually use a Nivea product and find that after shaving and using an alum block; the moisturiser simply dries almost instantly upon contact with the residue alum. However with the Bluebeards Balm things were utterly different; applying about half of what I would normally used it went on clean and smooth and provided a lovely smelling; cooling balm to my face. This morning my skin still smells good and feels softer and smoother than it would have normally with the nivea balm!
great product!!

Product: Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream for Ultra Sensitive Skin (100ml)
Review: Tried this as I was not overly keen with the Truefit and Hill oil. However, found that as a preshave it seems to make lather dry out (may be only when combined with TOB Eton College cream - that's what i was using when it happened, and not with other creams). I prefer the T and H, but use this as a post shave due to the awesome smell and lovely tingles it gives on the skin. Dries quickly too. Feels so nice I even use it when I have not shaved! Would like to try the standard version as i Hear this is stronger - Love it!

Review: I've been using the Merkur 34C now for around 8 months. It doesn't even look like it's been used.
It's got a nice weight to it to make shaving very easy (you literally apply no pressure) and, for me, the shave angle is just right.
As a 'starter' shaver this is highly recommended and, due to my experiences with this one, I'd look to buy Merkur again.
As people have previously posted in comparison to Gillette electrics, etc. this has paid for itself and I can quite easily see me using this shaver easily in 10 years time.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Pre Shave Oil (125ml)
Review: Picked this up to add to my collection of straight razor shaving goodies!
Didn't know what to think about oiling my face up before a shave but it was really worth it!
The product smells nice, with an almost zesty citrus undertone.
Following guidelines its just a case of applying the oil sparingly to your beard before you apply the soap. You really only need a very small amount in the palm of your hands and away you go; probably about half a teaspoon, maybe less!
the product will last ages!
I did find that the first couple of times I used it the shaving crme I use didn't foam up quite as well as it did without the oil in place (real shaving co; and I wouldn't recommend it over anything you can buy here at The Shack!!) but if you apply a little bit more then it works fine. Im awaiting some bluebeards cream to test with that.
regardless; the oil really seemed to help the smoothness of the shave; the overall flow of the blade over the skin and helped a bit with shaving rash/redness as well.
great product all in all!

Product: Merkur Futur 760 Adjustable Safety Razor with Satin Chrome Finish (Gift Tin and 10 Merkur DE Blades)
Review: Its A Razor Jim, but not as we know it!
As you remove the beast from the superb metal packaging your imagination will quickly liken its futuristic design to the Starship Enterprise coasting from the docking station ready its ongoing mission to explore strange new beard growth, to seek out new shaving techniques and new products. Swapping the option to beam-up for a lather-up youll then find the blade gliding at warp factor 9 to voyage smoothly along your delicate contours. The sleek, elegant design can only be matched by its sheer smooth performance. The rotating mechanism will gently open the razor head bay doors to accommodate the blade before you adjust the phaser settings to simply stun. Depending upon your beard growth youll have the option to set for a gentle shave to something sharper than Spocks ears.
So if you wake up in the morning and find you have Klingons on the starboard bow, this beaut should be your weapon of choice. A famous Chief Engineer once said Ye cannae change the law of physics Captain but you certainly can change your shaving style to this vision of the Futur and boldly go where no man has gone before.
Match this with other Shaving Shack products and youll find the outcome is more effective then Dilithium Crystals. So, should you invest in something that is indestructible, that will last forever and faster than Warp Drive?..Make it so!. 'Shack up' with either Kirk or Picard and you won't be disappointed.....Steve out.

Review: Good as a starter brush, but after a while you will need to consider a better badger brush. The lather produced is good enough. Great service from Shaving Shack.
Review: Brilliant razor, I started DE shaving after frustration with the costs and finish of using gillette cartridge razors. This shaver is very solidly built and gives a very nice, close shave. Just a small amount required on your hand to rub together and apply to face, goes on easy and does not smell to bad.
