Product: Taylor of Old Bond St Shaving Cream for Sensitive Skin (150g)
Review: Great stuff lathers up pretty easily. I usually find most creams irritate my skin due to their fragrance. This stuff is good if you find the other Taylor stuff's fragrances too overpowering. Still manages to leave you feeling fresh, clean and smoothly shaved.

Review: I had a Parker for my first safety razor, then tried my brothers Merkur. I noticed the difference so much I got one for myself. Great solid razor gives out consistent shaves. Despite it not being twist to open as with most of the Parkers the blade is alot easier to change compared to the other Merkurs. Comes in a very nice chrome finish feels solid and like a well engineered piece of equipment.
Highly recommended for a mid-priced razor I'm actually buying one for my Grandad now!

Product: Omega 49 Professional Pure Bristle Brush
Review: I would call this one the lathermachine ! I produce gobs of lather in no time, wether you use cream or soap.
The boar bristles are not scratchy at all and when the bristles start to split after a few uses, it tends to as soft as a good badger brush but for a fraction of the price.
One downside is the smell when you get it out of the box...it's smell just like hell ! Even the powerful fragance of Tabac can't beat his smell. Fortunately, after one week of use, it disappear.

No problem with this cream, it lather like a charm in no time. Very protective lather.
Just one problem to me...the scent, I don't know if Taylor change is formulation but I tough I would get the same fragance as my rose I have in the garden...it's not that one.

Review: This produces a lovely lather and gives a great methol tingle on the skin that really does wake your face up in the morning. Fantastic value product.
Review: So - my first DE razor arrived this morning and it was put to use straight away. A beautiful-looking and solid piece of engineering, it has a reassuring weight in my large hand and just oozes quality. Without having to apply any pressure as I ran it over my face, it quickly & smoothly dispensed with a week's worth of growth in single strokes.
I can honestly say that this is the closest shave I've ever had in 25 years. It's as smooth as my 9yr-old daughter's face - she'll be delighted when she doesn't have to get a 'scratchy kiss' goodnight!
The Azor and the Mach 3 went into the bucket this morning; I'm never going back to the dark side.

Very nice size and a lot of BACKBONE but still soft on the skin. I have quite big hands but this is no issue. I have moved away from big brushes which tend to be messy. Review: Nearly everyone recommends this cream, it's easy to see why. The first cream I used when I got into wet-shaving saw me get some of the best shaves of my life, and the cooling sensation you get on your skin is terrific for hot sunny days, really revives you. The eucalyptus scent is certainly unique, and seems to divide opinions. Personally I think it's a very fresh, green scent and I like it, although it doesn't stay around for long if you're not a fan of it. I'd recommend everyone tries this cream, especially with it being a great price as well.

It has a lovely traditional scent - which lasts all day. It gives a great lather (although I find it needs a bit more moisture to get it going compared to Old Eton) and allows for a very close shave.

Product: Merkur 23C Long Handled Classic
Review: My first DE razor for about 20 years. I selected it as I have large hands (ape like is one description!). It arrived very quickly and I couldn't resist having a go - hey it's a new toy. It has a very pleasing weight to the head and although described as long handled, it isn't unwieldy. I went with the grain first off and was quite disappointed if I'm honest, tried it going across the grain and it was better. Finally I tried how I've always shaved, against the grain, and yep, a great close shave and no soreness and issues. I now shave against the grain straight from the off and find it to be excellent for me, far closer than the mach 3 and less irritation. OK, so now I'm a sucker for these razors and have just ordered the small travel Merkur to take on my travels with me.
I think it is a nice looking razor and I am a bit upset that it now resides in the bathroom cabinet rather than on display after my 2 year old son started casting admiring glances at it whilst I cleaned his teeth. Ah well, may be he can inherit it when he's old enough to shave and I can get another new shiny one - do you think 3 is too young to shave?

Product: Musgo Real Pre Shave Oil (100ml)
Review: This stuff sticks to the skin, which suits me as I have dry skin. My shaving method is; wash with Molton Brown face cleanser, hold hot, wet flannel against chin etc. for about 1 minute, apply Musco Real pre-shave oil, put pea-sized bit of Musco Real shave cream in a bowl with shave soap (currently Mitchell's Wool Fat), whip up lather with brush (Vulfix whatever), daub lather on chin, pass razor over chin, one pass only, clearing razor between sweeps, re-apply soap/cream mix (plenty is left on the brush), pass razor over chin etc. a second time. The result is a close shave and at the end of it the shave oil is still there!
Review: I like the simplicity of this razor; just three well-made parts which hold the fourth (the blade) very nicely. The handle has good length, diameter and texture, allowing easy control. Since there are only three parts I'm sure this razor will be easy to maintain. Oh...and it works, of course! (-:

Product: 30 Derby Extra Double Edged Razor blades
Review: This blades should be considered the standard when shaving.
I have yet to try many other blades but as a newbie I first was afraid that they wouldn't be my thing, but I was wrong.
Not only are they great and offer a good, smooth shave but are also cheap and last up to four shaves.
On the negative side I found that they could be a bit sharper, but I guess that there are people who like them as they are.
My tip is that you place them on a paper napkin to air dry after each use, this will increase the longliveness of the blade.

Review: I ordered this razor as my first DE razor ever a few weeks ago and since then I've been having the best shaves in my life.
First, like many others, I was concerned that this would be a rather "dangerous" experience since I wasn't familiar with safety razors or blades but the truth is that it is very easy to shave with it and since then I have reduced in nicks and cuts by a 99%.
It is aggressive but not too much. This way it offers a well balanced equilibrium.
Another thing I like it's is heaviness. It allows you to slide and glide the razor so easily and gently over the skin without any pressure that it will help you to get a closer shave.
And finally here's a tip I love: The razor is completely made of quality metal, that means that if you rinse it off under hot water and then apply it on your face you get a lovely delicious warm feeling you can't experience with a cartridge razor. Try it out!

Review: I bought this as my first DE razor having got fed up with the price of cartridge razor heads. This gives a great shave, so far I have used it with Merkur, Feather and Israeli blades. It works well with all these, but the Israeli are my favourite and fantastic value. I chose the 23c as I wanted a longer handled razor, and I find it very comfortable to use.
DE shaving is rather different to shaving with the multiblade cartridge razors so it is worth doing a bit of research into how to shave if you have not used a DE before. It is well worth it, a better shave and for less money.

Much better than using small pieces of tissue where its bleeding, this just closes cuts instantly. I've had mine 6 months and I'd say only (if even) 1/3 of it has gone, it's still got lots of life left in it. The little box it comes in is perfect for storing ot and your current DE blade. Review: My brush arrived very quickly and I was impressed by the red presentation case. This adds to the quality feel of the product. Initially, I thought that I had made a mistake when lathering as my old brush seemed to produce much more lather. What had happened was that because the tips of the bristles are so soft I had hardly picked up any shave cream at all. With a little more cream loaded it easily out-performed my other brush. This worked extremely well with soap or cream producing a superb lather with hardly any effort.
The brush is very well made and adds a touch of class to the morning shave. I have seen this brush described as "smaller sized" but I can't see that you would need anything bigger.

Review: This razor has been described as the Porsche of all razors, it is not, it is the Bugatti Veyron of razors!
I had been using a Parker DE razor, with Japanese Feather blades, which is actually quite good, but the Merkur goes to the highest level. Arm the razor with Japanese Feather blades, Proraso shaving cream, you will have the closest shave. it is important to hold the razor lightly and let the blade do the work. It is a bit tricky under the nose so I finish off with the Merkur moustache razor, perfect. As for Shaving Shack, I asked Dan a question, ordered the product delivered next day............perfect.
Review: Tried these after years of using a certain "5 blade brand" OMG they are sharp. Took 2 weeks to get used to how to shave with these and a few cuts as well. But the shave was fantastic. It was slow close that I could easily only have to shave once every 2 days. These are all I use now. A good razor Merkur decent brush and cream and the results are amazing. If you are thinking of going down this route using the above you won't be disappointed!

The Shack's Israeli blades are very good but the (Turkish made) Derby blades are just a cut above; sorry but the pun was intended.

Review: I've been using this razor everyday for about 5 months now - both home and abroad. It is absolutely great. I didn't believe how compact the package was when it arrived, it folds neatly into a tiny case (which is of great durable leather) but don't be fooled by its small size, the assembled razor is still a hefty weight, rock solid and more than big enough to provide a great shave - not to mention the absolute flawless quality. I was sceptical about the short handle but it's more than long enough to shave with. The quality of the shave is superb but I have found it less close than other razors so it can take a few passes to get it right - and having very sensitive skin this can be a bit of an issue around the neck.
That being said, this is still the only razor I shave with (its not as close as my Gillette fusion but feels a million times better to use) I am confident that I'll be using it daily for a long ime to come.

Review: I have returned to the DE shaving fold about 30 years after leaving it.
So frustrated have I become with the gloop foams/soaps and the bewildering array of, frankly dreadful, modern 'razors' (and I use the term very loosely) that something had to be done.
Blind E-searching led me to Shave Shack and the immediate purchase of an Merkur HD 34C and it is an item of absolute beauty which works like a dream with my (Jordanian) Erasmic cream.
Only tried the free Israeli blades so far but Derby's and Omega cream are winging their merry way to join what will be a magnificent and probably costly obsession.
One question, why did Gillette, makers of such great kit in the 50s & 60s, leave such a huge potential market?
I love the look of the Edwin Jagger chrome 89 so that may be next but only after a badger brush.
The service from Dan at the Shack has been first class as have the products.

Review: I was going to buy blades for my Mach razor the other day and they were next to a pack of razor blades. Looking at these made me think of my grandads razor years ago and I decided to look online and give it a go.
I looked over quite a few sites then found the shaving shack, together with the starter kit.
A few days later it arrived, and after getting from work i decided to have some 'Me' time and give it a proper go.
I had ordered the Lemon and Lime shaving cream and proceeded to lather up. Initially the blade does seem a bit scary and I was afraid of cutting myself, but if you take your time it is well worth it.

Review: This was my first DE razor and what an introduction. It is about the largest model I have seen and it certainly gives a good introduction into the world. I was already a dabbler into straight razor usage and wanted something to allow for a quicker shave be it at home or away and this allows for both.
The razor itself is well made and has a lovely finish. The ability to change the aggression of the cut makes all the difference when learning but don't do what I did and spend each shave trying a different setting. This razor works better if you get to know a range of settings before deciding which one is for you, don't be afraid of the scarier end of the scale.
Overall I would say that it is a good razor but very expensive. Not to bad for a novice, afterall it was my first, but I would say not entirely essential either. Perhaps something to work up to once you have tested the water with a cheaper model.
As for the Shaving SHack, the service was excellent and very quick, all that could have been wanted really.

Product: Musgo Real Glycerine Soap (Lime 165g)
Review: An incredibly versatile soap, Musgo Real Lime Glycerine soap can be used as a regular shave soap, or as a pre-shave soap. The citrus scent is a treat for your nose while the glycerine is kind to your skin. I find that adding a little pea sized blob of Musgo Real shaving cream to the mix creates a superlather that is hard to beat in terms of chushioning, glide and moisturising properties. Highly recommended!

Product: Parker Model 89R Three Piece Safety Razor with Nickel Plated Finish
Review: I purchased a Parker 89R from Shaving Shack and I am most impressed with the look and performance of this razor. It is very well balanced and feels very solid. This razor gives me an excellent shave with no irritation or razor burn. I got this for a great price and opted for the free Israeli blades also. The whole package was delivered in 2 days from placing the order. You can't go wrong with the Parker 89R and you will find it far superior in looks and performance to the cartridge type razors available.

Review: I bought the Parker 91R after reading reviews on the benefits of this type of razor compared to the Mach3 type. Fantastically impressed by the closeness of the shave and the comfort when using it. Having used normal disposable razors for the last 25 years wish I had realised this razor was far far superior years ago. No rashes, no red skin, no dragging, far closer shave. Fantastic.

Product: Safety Razor Starter Kit (IS)
Review: I'd decided to give the retro/old fashioned/whatever way of shaving a go because my best mate had given me some Caswell & Massey sandalwood shaving cream as a gift for being his Best Man and I loved the smell of it and wanted to use it. The side of the box insisted that for best results I should use a shaving brush so I fired up Google which lead me to The Art of Manlines website, the Brush & Badger forums and the Mantic YouTube videos all of which screamed at me to get myself a DE Saftey Razor, blades & brush. A quick search of various sites told me that The Shaving Shack was the cheapest place to go with fantastic customer service. When I mentioned all this to my Dad, he laughed as he had only thrown out his Gillette SuperSpeed a few years ago and here was I thinking of getting something not totally dissimilar. My parents also decided that they would give me this as a 35th birthday gift as it's the sort of thing a father should give a son.
I started off wet shaving in my teens but increasing razor burn saw me go electric until a few years ago when I grew a goatee (which I still have). The electric razor wasn't preceise enough any more and didn't give precise edges to my beard so I switched to the Gillette Fusion as I liked the additional rear blade for cutting the hairs between my nose and moustached (they grow upwards for some reason which tickles like mad!).
How does this kit compare?
The Connaught is a nice looking Art Deco styled razor with a TTO (twist to open) action which looks fantastic and mechanical in operation and also reassuring for a newbie who is rather intimated by the bare blade. The handle is long and perfect for someone used to cartridge razors. There is real weight to the razor which just feels like a proper manly tool in your hand. I really cannot explain it any other way. The razor is no more aggressive than the Gillette Fusion when coupled with the Israeli blades that Shaving Shack supply as part of the kit and their freebies. Granted, the Fusion is relatively difficult to cut yourself with, but so is this if you don't hold it at a stupid angle. I've been going for a couple of weeks now and two days ago did my first 3 pass shave which my 5 year old daughter claimed left my face as smooth as a baby's bottom with "no roughies when I stroke up or down, Daddy!". If SHE is happy with it then ANYONE should be!
Oh and for those of you who are green - the blades are fully recycleable and basically insert back into the bottom of the cartridge they come in so you don't have to worry about exposed blades lying around.
The Pure Badger brush is one of the cheapest I have found but the quality isn't compromised as far as I can tell. The lather I whipped up in 2 minutes is think and the brush holds the cream well as well as retaining a lot of water.
The matching drip stand is invaluable for increasing the life of the brush and is perfectly happy being wall mounted as there is a screw hole in the back of it. On it's own it is also the cheapest priced stand you will find online including eBay.
Finally, the cost savings. I've been using a Gillette Fusion up until now and at 4-5 for a can of foam which has a LOT of waste & doesn't smell particulary pleasent and 10 for a pack of 4 cartridge blades I soon realised that I could save some serious money - even more so when the Shaving Shack give you 30 blades as part of the pack and then another 10 FOR FREE as you are spending over 9.99. How bargaintastic is that?!

Product: Parker Model 89R Three Piece Safety Razor with Nickel Plated Finish
Review: I received my new Parker 89R razor only 2 days after ordering, so was very impressed by the Shave Shack Service. Now i had already shaved that morning using my Aveda range of shaving cream and my Gillette Mach 3 razor. It is this usual routine i have become sick of due to the cost of the blades and the soreness towards the end of the week that i decided to try a Double Edge Razor. Now i read many a review like this and decided upon the Parker 89r, for one reason its cost and secondly the reviews for it being a great starter razor. I was not disappointed last night when i tried it out. I did not have a great deal of growth but thought i am going to try and adjust to the razor and i found it relatively easy, the 89r is well weighted and allowed for easy stokes across the face, with a shave far closer than that of my Mach 3 blade. Felt very fresh after the shave and extremely happy with the clean look that was left afterwards. would definitely recommend this razor after only one shave and definitely recommend the service of shave shack.

Product: Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic
Review: After reading a bit about DE shaving and safety razors I decided to give it a go and purchased the 34C after reading such glowing reviews. I've got to say it lives up to its reputation and I'm more than pleased.
I used to use a Mack3 but the shave you get with this is so much better (girlfriend loves it as well) that I'm never going back.
A word of warning if your intent is to save money (which you will on blades in the long term). I find myself wanting to buy and try other DE razors and already have two on my list (38C and the Futur). I feel an obsession coming on.
Review: Going to have to buck the trend here and say that after using one of these, I prefer the Israeli blades. Used a Feather blade twice and had more cuts than in the last 12 months even when using lightly as per my daily routine. I'm trying a fresh blade tomorrow and will see how it goes. It is possible of course that they are superb, and my skin is a little too sensitive for them...er...hey! Isn't rugby great?!

Review: Startling! Put enough on and it makes your eyes water! Great product, used it as an after shave balm and it does certainly feel fresh and invigorating. More of a 'paste' feel, rather than a classic after shave lotion ( normally use a Proraso or Dr Galen - now obsolete - with grape seed extract ), but rubs in well and keeps the chin smooth. Starting to use this daily now.

Review: Thank you Shaving Shack. I first purchased one of your razors, but found it too heavy and the blades did not shave me, very disheartened I decided to ring you, not expecting any sympathy due the personal nature of the products, instead with surprise was treated with utmost respect was told to send razor back and a lighter one was posted within a couple of days together with a selection of blades. The conclusion is I have a razor which is light to use and excellent razor blades. I have just ordered some more. Thank you for brilliant service, cannot fault you.

Product: Merkur 42C Chrome Plated "1904 Replica"
Review: I bought this little fella after reaching a state of extreme discontent with the shave I was getting from my Mach3. Half a dozen cuts and a face left more sensitive than a politician's ego isn't my idea of a good shave.
I used to use a DE razor way back when I began shaving at the age of 14, in the 1970s, but hadn't handled one since then, so I wanted a DE safety razor with similar characteristics and the Merkur 42 fitted the bill perfectly. I fitted a Derby Extra blade, brushed up a lather of Erasmic (a brand which I also used to use in the dim and distant past!) on my multi-grained (hair growing in FIVE different directions) face and set to.
What a delight! The razor glided over my face even on the first pass on a lazy fortnight-worth of stubble), a second pass and a few "touches" here and there, and I had the smoothest shave I've ever been able to get outside of a visit to the barber! Have I been (re)-converted to "traditional" DE safety razor shaving? You betcha, and all for the cost of a couple of months' worth of Mach3 blades!!

Review: A soap that will enhance and wet shaving experience, Mitchell's Wool Fat soap is luxurious, smooth and incredibly kind to your skin. Creating a rich, foamy lather is child's play and once your brush has loaded it onto your face you will really appreciate the smooth glide of your razor.
The ceramic bowl is a nice touch that also seems to hold a bit of heat when you are mixing your lather, which is beneficial when you are making multiple passes during your shave and you want your lather to stay warm. It's also a good looking item to have in your bathroom.

Product: Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic
Review: Had heard great things about this razor and after much research decided this would be a good choice for its greatly praised high quality shave, and also not to burn too big of a hole in my pocket. And this razor certainly lives up to its reputation, an affordable, beautiful piece of shaving equipment that like it did with me, will convince you to never, EVER, go back to shoddy overpriced cartridge razors available today. Having quite large hands I was at first worried about the size of the shaft, but soon found it easily managable to hold and control. Great stuff, shaving has never been so easy, enjoyable, and close. If your contemplating getting into traditional wetshaving, go ahead and start right here!

Product: Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream (100ml)
Review: It says it's both a pre and a postshave product. In my opinion, it works best as a pre. Consider an aftershave as post.
I like to use my cream/soap of the day as a preshave, but if you like a designated preshave product then this is a good choise. It's mentholated, so keep that in mind when considering buying it. Proraso pre/post works better then most oils in softening the beard, and is much cheaper.

Review: I bought this cream to use when my face was sore, I have probably used this more than any of the creams I have (even when my face was fine!). great lather and lovely scent, good cushioning and glide - every wet shaver should have a pot of this in their bathroom.
Review: After years of unsatisfatory shaving using both electric and Mach 3's neither of which gave a good shave and the Mach 3 blades were blunt after one shave I decided to buy the Futur 760 with a brush and soap.I went mid range pricewise and liked the fact that the Futur was adjustable.
I am now into the second week of using the Futur and I am very impressed ,the razor is excellent quality and gives a very good shave although you have to treat it with respect, I have had a few nicks but this is to be expected until I am more experienced at using it.I only have it set at 1 1/2 at the moment.
So I would recommend it as I have had the best shave that I have had for years and my face is so much smoother - the only thing is my wife thinks that I must be having an affair as I am shaving so much more often as it is a much more rewarding experience !!

Review: Lovely cream, smells just like marzipan and feels very good on the skin. Whipped up into a thick lather it produces, it enables a razor to glide easily and harmlessly (as long as you use it correctly, of course) across the skin.
It also provides some nice skin conditioning properties, and for my sensitive skin it was perfect.

Review: Musgo real is one of the legendary shaving creams. It's often mentioned along Proraso and Speick, mainly because of the great value for money.
The scent on Musgo Real is best described as soapy, fresh and "green". Maybe something like warm, mild grass. It's very unique, and very plesant.
The latherability is excellent. It needs very little water. The lanolin and glycerin makes it very slick, and softens the beard skin.
This is a cream every wetshaver ought to try. It's a benchmark cream.

Product: Merkur 38C Barberpole
Review: Many people recommend the 34C as a starter razor. I say; get the 38C instead!
The head on the 34C and 38C is the same, but the weight makes the 38C superior. You quickly learn to let the razor glide over your skin, and let the heft of the razor to all the work.
The 38C is stunning to look at, and is suited for both beginners, and experienced DE-shavers. You will outgrow the 34C, but the 38C will be a shaver for life.

Product: Merkur 39C Slant Bar DE Long Handled Safety Razor
Review: Because of a heart condition I'm on Plavix (blood thinner), which means that any kind of abrasion on my face will result in blood loss.
But I find that of my 30+ vintage Gillettes and modern Merkurs, THIS is the one that consistently gives me blood-free shaves.
Maybe it's the weight of the head, meaning it needs no additional pressure, but it's proved to be a God-send.
I recommend it used with the Israeli blades.
Review: Just shaved for the first time with one of these... with a view to eventually graduating to a real straight.
Left and right cheeks and sideburns, two passes.
Although I had a slight graze to my left side, I'm well pleased with how well it went!
I think the secret is to lay the razor flat against your face, then tilt it up to the correct angle. The sensation of the naked blade skimming your face is amazing. Can't wait to try a real straight!!
I'd recommend this for anyone with any interest in straight shaving - it's cheap and helps you develop correct technique.
