Review: First time I have ordered from The Shaving Shack and I had received a first class service from ordering the items to delivery. So just wanted to say how good the service was first.
The Merkur 34c HD razor is the first DE Razor I have, first thing I noticed was the work that goes in to this piece of kit and how good it looks, the second is the weight a nice heavy feel to it, and for my first shave with it, felt comfortable in the hand. I have nothing to compare it too but safe to say I am now a convert to DE razors, the Fusion will be taking a back seat from now on. 5 out of 5 for me.

Review: I'm brand new to DE shaving, and this was my first purchase, and I'm very pleased!
It is actually very forgiving, yet gives a very close shave. I have found that even ATG, it is not particuarly irritating.
It is very weighty, which i like, and has a stumpy handle. Personally, i think my next razor will have a longer handle - but that purely is my preference.
Very grippy handle with its diamond cut steel design.
Would definitely reccommend this razor, and i think the price is more than reasonable!

Review: The Merkur 34C was my introduction the world of DE shaving. I have not looked back since.
For years I've tried all types of cartridge shaving systems, electric razors (paying more than 200 for some models), all in the pursuit of the perfect shave.
I finally found it with DE shaving and Merkur 34C. It's very forgiving for the beginner and solidly built. I find the handle a bit short, but you get used to it. I recommend watching videos on youtube for DE shaving to learn the technique and improve your shaving experience.
I'm in the Armed Forces and sometimes I need a super quick shave. For those that state that DE shaving cannot be quick, I would suggest otherwise (with the requisite experience and diligence) other it will get messy.
A good introductory razor worth the investment.

Review: Recently won the Muhle R89. I want to point out a great production razors and aesthetic appearance. Razor good in the hand and it is convenient to use.
Razor Bree is very clean. After two passes of the skin is smooth and, most importantly, no cuts or irritation. As the blades used the Shark Super Stainless Double Edged Razor Blades (bought as a bonus to a razor).
I advise everyone, even though the price seems high, but considering the quality of the shave and have fun with it just fine. I recommend.
Review: By far the closest shave I've had, has come from using these blades!
Having tried several different brands (inc. Derby, Feather, Israeli, etc.), the Wilkinson Sword blades give the closest shave, and seem to be the sharpest edge.
The only warning is - be careful! These blades are *that* sharp, you can quite easily slice your face, so take extra care guys.
Review: Bought this for a travel set, but have found the shave to be wanting. Although not uncomfortable, this Timor razor is by far the most gentle of my razors, requiring more passes to get less than expected results.
Perhaps it's down to the slightly larger head, due to the butterfly movement, but it seemed to take a while to find the proper angle with this DE. Should be fine as a beginner razor, but definitely not for those who want a clean/close shave.

Review: I have been using quite a few soaps and creams by now, ranging from cheap to silly expensive, and this is my favourite. It has a wonderful citrus scent that feels very natural, almost like peeling a clementine and using that exact scent. Using very little cream youll get a rich, creamy foam that lets your razor glide smoothly across your skin. With other soaps/creams I often use a pre-shave cream but thats not necessary in this case. It also leaves my skin fresh and moisturized which is no small feat seeing that I live in a dry area and have very sensitive skin.
A great product, cant wait to try out the other scents that Cyril Salter make.

Product: Proraso Ultra-Sensitive Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: As others have pointed out this is somewhat of a middle of the road between traditional soap and cream. It has the signature Proraso white line smell that in my opinion smells marvelous, very much of a woodsman vibe with notes of pine tree. I have tried quite a few Proraso products and in general think they make good, affordable products. This said however, I didnt like this particular product that much. Direct comparisons may be a bit unfair considering this after all is a budget priced offering but since a lot of people marvel about how this stands up to much more expensive brands Id like to clarify that in my honest opinion it doesnt.
It foams okay, but the foam isnt very rich and it also dries out very fast. Ive tried this many, many time sbecause I really want this to be good and useable but no matter how much/less water I add the end result is disappointing. What I like about it is that it is very sensitive on your skin and smells wonderful.
If you do decide to try it out, make sure to use it with the Proraso white line pre-shave cream as it adds much needed glide to the razor. If you seek a good option, go for the Cyril Salter products. They are a few pounds more expensive but seeing that the jar is also considerably bigger the net price is about the same.

Many people had positive things to say about them, especially those with sensitive skin. This site was highly recommended due to the great selection of items and delivery.
Decided to start with this and some Feather blades plus other accessories. The first shave didn't go so well but then I got the hang of it and couldn't belive the results! :-) My skin feels great after a shave and can do it more often.

On the strength of the sample I got a full size tin. When I opened it, it was fine however after 4-5 weeks I noticed that the lovely old fashioned smell started to change, and not for the better, It also started to sting when applied but only for about 1 minute then it settled down, I found this a little bit of a let down. I will give this product another try on the strength of the original sample, and hopefully it was just a bad batch and I will get a better one next time.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge "Scimitar" Double Edge Razor
Review: Hi all,
I hope you take some time to read this review as its not just about the razor but about Shaving Shack in General.
Firstly im going to talk about my delivery mishap. I had a few things on order and one of them was this razor. For whatever reason it wasn't in the package. To be fair i was pretty annoyed at this as you would expect. I really didn't need to be. 1 phone call to the team and they sent out my razor the same day.
For me this is truly superb. Every company on occasion makes mistakes but lets face it the fact that they dealt with their mistake so easily speaks volumes as to whom you are buying from. Customer service is a rare gem and Shaving Shack have been excellent.
On to the Razor....
Its weighty and holds the blade really nice and flat. Goes together a dream. Every shave i have had has been BBS quality with 3 passes. My one nitpicking complaint would be that the handle is a little slippy and could maybe do with a slightly deeper recess at the top to get a better grip of. But this really is a minor complaint.
After using Gillette blades for years then switching to electric this foray into DE shaving is never going to change. I love it and this razor has been the icing on the cake for me.
Quality company, Quality Service, Quality products.
Why buy anything else?

Product: Muhle R89 Grande Long Handled Double Edged Chrome Safety Razor
Review: Having tried the EJ DE89L of my SO, I wanted one of my own for leg shaving. Seeing the handle felt a little stubby for making long strokes, I picked the long handled R89 instead. (Same fantastic head on them both, by the way!)
Smoothest legs of my life! The size and weight is just ideal for a very smooth experience, taking literally no effort at all. I find I can actually shave much faster than with a cartridge, thanks to the larger blade.
The way the lather passes through the head is perfect, no more rinsing the razor every five seconds to wash off gunk. Works fantastic with
the Astra SP and Gillette yellow blades, although I'm sure any blade would do for the softer hairs.
The razor feels solid enough to last for a decade, even two.
Absolutely satisfied with the Mhle! :)
Review: These are just superb.
I bought big 100 pack of these with my first DE and i think will last quite the while. I have also had couple ten packs of unmarked israeli blade and one Derby.

Review: This is a great starter kit for someone that has always used mach 3 range of blades. I have been looking for a more affordable way to shave, and with black hair and sensitive skin I have always had problems with ingrowing hairs and razor rash, a DE razor seemed a great idea. even on my first attempt I hsd the best have I have ever had, my wife couldn't believe it! I did get 2 nicks under the chin where I shaved in one long length rather than short strokes as per youtube videos, but the Alum block stopped the cuts easy (and stung!) the DE razor is great weighty expensive looking bit of kit, the badger brush and cream are also very different from gel/foam and much better.. I compare it to cleaning anew car, using snowfoam, 2 bucket method, polish and wax... or the mach 3 version of shaving which is a drivethrough carwash that scratches your car and leaves swirlmarks
Review: Im in my fifties and this is the first double edge safety razor that Ive bought and can thoroughly recommend it.
I bought it as a relatively inexpensive entry into DE shaving and also bought some Proraso shaving cream at the same time.
Ive used single and multi-blade razors in the past, as well as electric shavers, and in my opinion the Timor razor and Proraso cream have given me the best shave ever.
If youre thinking about trying out DE shaving you cant go wrong with this Timor razor.

Product: Shark Super Stainless Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: I'm happy to be in the water with these Sharks! These are my 3rd set of branded razor blades (4inc non branded) since I started my DE shaving and I am impressed so far. Before these I used Derby Extras and Astra Superiors. The Derbys were good, lasted well and gave a good shave but not very close. The Astras shaved closer but dulled and cut/nicked too soon. The Sharks on the other hand seem much sharper and closer cutting than the above were for me and so far I have had 3 shaves with 1 blade and it still feels as sharp as the 1st use.
The only downside (and oddly, upside) to the sharpness of these blades for me is that if you have blemish prone skin or raised areas of skin due to ingrown hairs the blade will happily slice through them and you will not feel a thing! So far I have only done this once or twice around the neck but the next day it has healed just fine.
For the price I think you get a really good shave and sharp blades. I did want Feathers but they were out of stock so settled for Sharks based on my skin type and their reviews. If you have delicate/ sensitive skin then these may be too sharp and require caution but Derby and Astra users may find these offer a bit more sharpness and durability.

Review: This product just oozes class. The soft cream has an understated scent of sandalwood. Use less than the "standard" almond sized amount and you will easily generate enough lather for three passes. Even in a very hard water area like mine, it is simple and fast to whip up a silky meringue of foam.
And in use? The cream lubricates well and allows a close shave with no effort. The whole process leaves the face feeling moisturised rather than dried out by the experience.

It does shed a hair on occasion, but not at an alarming rate.
I highly recommend this brush to anyone who wants a brush that is easy to use and gentle on the skin.
Review: I bought this razor a few months ago, having forgot my entire shaving kit at home, and having to be away for a few months, I chose to buy a Merkur 570 to go along with the 34cHD I had at home. The service from the shaving shack was good, I wrote in the comments field that the shipping address was important, because I was not staying at the billing address. I received an email when they send the package saying they had shipped it to the address specified, in my oppinion they have very nice customer service.
The razor is more substantial than the 34cHD, the blade change is easy and the adjustment is very simple.
Shortly after starting to use the razor I noticed that one side is cutting a little different than the other. Upon examining the razor head i could see that the blade exposure-gap is not the same on both sides of the head, there's about 0.7mm difference from one side to the other, and sometimes the blade "slides" or moves so it is also a little of center, if I don't pay attention when adjusting the blade exposure. I am now used to this un-even blade exposure, and I pay attention when adjusting the razor or changing blades. The razor is more aggressive than the 34HD and in combination with Cyril Salter's shaving cream, feather blades and the razor set to 3 I have a pleasant and close shave.
I think that noticing the difference in blade exposure ruined my impression of the razor for a while, because the "crappy tolerances" bothered me, and made me focus less on shaving and more on being upset with the razor.
This has now passed and I really like it. If you can overcome the potential flaw in the tolerances you will probably love this razor.

Review: After 25ish years of disposables and mach whatevers i have finally tried this DE razor. I was very impressed at how easy and clean it was (even with my remaining cheap shave gel). i can highly recommend this razor for anyone who wants to try traditional DE shaving, and will be expanding on my shaving kit as my budget allows.

Product: DR Harris Arlington Shaving Soap & Bowl Beech (100g)
Review: An Amazing scent and soap. Been a huge Mitchells fan but was easily tempted to Dr Harris after open the box and smelling the soap. Lathers brilliantly and unfortunately for the Shaving Shack it also last forever! Always brings a smile to my face whether its winter or summer with its great smell and sets me up nicely for the day ahead. The wood bowl adds an extra touch of Luxury to. WIshed the Shack would stock more of the Arlington range though.

Product: Shark Super Stainless Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: The sad (depending on how you look at it) truth about getting into real wet shaving is that you need to try out many brands of blades before you find your personal favourite. Your skin type, sensitivity, method, products and hair type all play a part which is why Ive always told friends who are beginners and ask for advice that everyone really needs to go the hard way and try them all for themselves in order to find their favourites.
Having said this it is in fact still a good idea to read reviews in order to get a sense of the quality and general characteristics of different blades.
And yes, there is a huge difference between different blades.
I personally think that the Sharks are some of the best beginner blades. These are quality blades that are sharp enough to give you a tug-less shave while at the same time being more forgiving than say "Feathers". Perfect for building up the confidence needed to try out even sharper siblings... or you could find that youll go with these forever. Its your call!

Product: Parker 34R White Shavette (SRW)
Review: So after a few months of shaving with a Merkur 38C I decided to take the plunge in to purchasing a Straight razor. However after researching decided the shavette was a more affordable option and I am more than happy with this bit of kit and look forward to using it every time I pick it up. It is in a lot kore use then my Merkur now and can't believe I didn't buy this sooner.
Review: A review from a female perspective: I am horrendously allergic to those moisturising strips they put onto disposable razors these days. My only choice recently has been the cheap bic disposables which I do not like, so I decided to look for an alternative. I didn't know what these razors were called, but I knew they existed. A quick internet search brought me here to this double edge razor. I read the other reviews and decided to buy it. I was also looking for something a bit more eco sound than chucking a bit of plastic every month, so this fit the bill nicely.
It arrived within 2 days so great service from Shaving Shack. It's dinky and looks really well made. A quick inspection revealed that you twist the bottom to open it up to insert the blade. You get one blade with the razor and I got a free pack too. I chose the new hi-stainless feathers. I put one of these in and went for a shave! Being a girl I obviously wasn't shaving my 5 o'clock stubble, but I did have a go at my legs and and under arms! It was really easy and felt very smooth. No snagging or dragging like the disposable ones. I thought my knee might be tricky, but I did it the same way as usual and it was fine. The only thing I changed was keeping the back of my knee as straight as possible when doing that part. I was worried about doing under my arms, but again it was just as easy and they look less agitated than normal! I also didn't use a brush or shaving soap, I just gave my legs a good exfoliate with my scrubby gloves to work up a lather from my usual soap and it worked really well! I did the same for my arm pits.
I'm very pleased with this product and the results and it was a lot easier to use than I expected. Ladies, if you are on here looking for a gift for your man, maybe consider getting one for yourself too!

Product: Feather Popular Safety Razor
Review: I bough a few of these to give away as gifts to a few friends who were curious about getting into wet shaving. These are ideal for entry level as they're not aggressive razors. Although they're cheap price wise, the overall quality of the razors are great. So I gave away the razors to my friends to check out and they have come back with comments such as "best shave I've ever had, no irritation or shaving rash" and "smooth as a baby's bum, love the razor" . If you're thinking of trying out wet shaving, give these Feather razors a try. It's a nice, cheap and gentle introduction into the best shaving experience you will ever have.
Review: I normally use a straight razor to shave but bought this for when time was limited and I needed a quicker shave. I can tell you, after using it for the first time, it's fantastic. And I'm not just talking about the shave itself. The quality and craftsmanship, looks and weight is perfect. It's not too mild and not too aggressive. Looks like my straight razor might have to take a back seat while I use this razor more often!

Review: At first, I thought the bowl would be too small. But it's worked out perfect. Fits perfectly in one hand while you lather with the other. And because it's smaller, it seems to take less effort to get a nice thick lather. Looks elegant sitting on the bathroom shelf too when not in use.

Review: I tried these after many month of using Feather blades. I must say that I'm won over by these fantastic blades. They are not as sharp as the Feathers but gives me a close shave without irritation. The Feathers would give me a very close shave but would also leave my face burning all day long.
Review: For me the best Blades.
Super sharp and long lasting.
For me they last about 7 days

Review: Looks good and shaves really nicely. First week of de shaving ( can't believe took so long to give up other methods) and tried couple of blades as well as the merkur that came with the razor. For me, the razor is very easy to use and not aggressive at all so I found best results came from sharper feather blades.
Really looking forward to trying other shaving products and expanding my repertoire. Really enjoying shaving now! Do it

Product: Alum Block
Review: I'm new to DE shaving and bought alum block as part of my first order with Shaving Shack. After first ever attempt at DE shaving I was not sure what to expect having read some reviews. Wet the block and rub directly onto the skin and it stops any bleeding and reduced the redness very quickly. Absolutely one of the best components of my shaving process and will last ages.

Product: DR Harris Arlington Shaving Soap & Bowl Beech (100g)
Review: Coming into the world of real shaving was a bit terrifying with all the brands of soaps, creams and whatnots being available. Finally deciding on the Arlington variety I have to admit that I did so without having smelled it or even looked at it in real life before my purchase - it simply came down to good reviews, good looks and a tempting description.
Its very hard to describe the scent but it strikes me as masculine without being aggressive. Its not a bold fragrance, its more of a clean, fresh scent that feels relaxed and confident. Ive had some female friends smell it and they all love it.
Having used canned gel previously this was a great find. I only need a ultra liberal amount of soap to whip up a thick amount of foam - it seems to last forever.
Having very sensitive skin Ive come to learn that this works best when I use it with a pre-shave cream such as Proraso. It works well on its own though.
Last but not least the packaging is great. It looks superb in my bathroom and you hardly can say that about your regular foam can, right?
A quality product.

Product: Merkur Futur 761 Adjustable Safety Razor with Chrome Finish
Review: After 15 years of shaving with a Gillette Mach 3 I was ready to step up to the plater and try a real razor. After scouting the field I fell for the Merkur 34C but was then lured into buying the more expensive Futur model. For me the price difference didnt matter that much and I felt that the extra money for a neat feature like adjustment was well spent. I also felt that it was better to splash out right away instead of saving a few bucks and then upgrade later (which apparently is quite common).
For a beginner it is really great to be able to start easy and then gradually expose the skin to more and more of the blade by upping the dial. The grading sure isnt a gimmick - theres plenty of difference between using each and everyone of the settings. I quickly moved on up to the 3rd setting and have yet to move further.
I love the great workmanship of this product and dont doubt that it will last for years. Youd think that the chrome would give this a slightly bad grip but Im happy to say that this isnt the case.
Solid, built to last and if you gear up and get a matching brush and stand it looks adorable in your bathroom.

Product: Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream for Ultra Sensitive Skin (100ml)
Review: Having shaved with a Mach3 for about 15 years I recently decided to move along to a more classic way of shaving. I was a bit intrigued how different it was from what I was used to and also my skin did not appreciate it. I decided to try the Proraso Pre-shave cream after reading the fine reviews on this site and am very happy that I did. You dont need to use that much of it to get a great effect. The razor slides much easier, making it easier to shave and it has a nice menthol "zing" to it. It feels great. It smells great. It soothes the skin. a great product that I highly recommend to anyone.
Review: Love theese blades, used with the Prorasso range and my eg d89 I get the most amazing shave ever no need for any preasure the blade just glides through leaving my face smooth and rash free. Dont worry about trying them, once you use them you wont settle for anything else.

Review: if like me.. and fussy as can be! choosing the right brush can be a bit frustrating. to soft? to hard? to big? to small. (no laughing now) well look no further! the Progress Vulfix 404 IS THE ONE!!! perfect 50/50 of badger & boar, soft enough on the face, with a touch of stiffness to acompany any of your fav soaps or creams. not "scratchy" to use in any way! and deffo doesnt have any of that "wet dog" smell! even after one use. dont let the low price tag put you off in any way! at 10.99 this brush is a steal.
SS.. you've done it again;)
Review: right now the wife is laughing at me! as i couldn't get on the laptop any quicker to let all DE shavers know have errr.... this stuff whips up and lathers beautifully! alowing my blade to glide on my face without any irratation on the face or neck. i dont honestly know what it is that makes this stuff work? but buy god it does. thankyou so much mitchells & SS.

Review: Just ordering my second jar. I am surprised that Gillette have not bought out this company and suppressed the product. On a pack of 4 Gillette Fusion blades it says "may last up to three months". I am getting a perfectly goiod shave in the FOURTH month of the FIRST blade from the pack, using the Proraso pre-shave (plus Taylor's Sandalwood cream applied with large Taylor's Silver tip badger brush) I shave to the bone virtually every day. It must be working.

Product: Kent BLK12 Silver Tip Badger Shaving Brush (Black)
Review: This brush is exceptional, The packaging is top class and you feel you are getting something that is top rank. The red case with gold stitching opens up and there sits your BLK12. So much more pomp than simply opening a cardboard box This brush is huge. The handle fits my largish hands perfectly. The brush holds a huge amount of water and when face lathering there isn't even a hint of scritch. It's just a luxury feel of latherikng soap and puts a huge smile on your face. This brush creates a huge amount of great creamy lather, easily enough for 3 passes, in fact enough to have a complete 2nd shave.
An absolute joy to use. I've looked at this brush so often over the last few months but finally pulled the trigger on it and I have been rewarded with an excellent product.
