Review: After suffering through a couple of prickly and shedding cheapo brushes I eventually got my act together, and picked-up this quality brush. Dependable, great value, this Omega boar won't win many luxury awards but it will deliver results. With soaps in particular you can really work this brush hard and get yourself some wonderously thick and slick lather, plus as the hairs split the brush becomes softer and less scratchy. Creams I've found fare slightly less well. Yes you can get a good lather, but for me my best-badger brush produces better, with less product used and more heat retained in its bristles, leading to a warmer lather. That aside though the Omega will stand any wet-shaver in good stead, from first-timers to old-hands.

Product: 10 Feather & 10 Derby Extra & 10 Israeli Made Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: Great way to try which blades you like. The infamous Feathers were not as scary as I was lead to believe. Sharp, yes but pretty smooth too. However, after a few days use they seemed to start nicking me.
The Derby's were OK, nothing special. Would be happy to use regularly.
The SS blades were reasonably good. I could 'feel' the blade a bit more with these, they seem a bit thinner. Again, perfectly good and usable on a daily basis.
However, I did find the Gillette blades (purchased separately at the same time) to be my personal favourite. I would recommend trying this pack though to help you test which blades you prefer.

Review: I decided to dip my toe into the world of straights and this is an inexpensive way to try it.When i got the razor i decided to put half a derby blade in it because derbys are more forgiving, but the shave was a bit rough so i tried a feather and had quite a satisfying shave.I think it will take a bit of practice to really master the art of straight shaving but there is something very fulfilling about using a straight to shave and you definately have a lot more control when it comes to shaping sideburns and other facial hair.Give it a try before going all out for an expensive straight setup.

Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Tube (150ml)
Review: I've been traditional wet shaving for about a year now, but have only ever used creams and blades available in pharmacists. I had read about the hype surrounding proraso, so I decided to give it a go as it is a cheap cream.
And it didn't dissapoint. I used proraso and a fresh feather blade for the first time, and got the closest shave I've ever had, and no razor burn on the neck, which is a first for me. It leaves a really nice cooling sensation and makes an excellent lather with only a small amount of cream. If, like me you're experimenting with different creams, proraso is a very safe bet and will not dissapoint. A must have for any wet shaver.

Review: Wow.
This soap is one of, if not the, best soaps I've used.
No nicks, my skin feels hydrated and not dried out, good bye shaving rash.
As someone who grew up using 'goo in a can', at 26 years old and only now discovering wet shaving, products like 'Arlington' are a revelation.
Anyway, the soap itself has a citrus aroma whilst being earthy at the same time. The price, well, seeing as it'll easily last a year or more, especially in a rotation with another fine soap, is absolutely reasonable, go buy some of the latest shave gel from any supermarket, it isn't cheap, it's inferior, oh and it lasts weeks.

Review: This is not just a great starting and very affordable kit for a new wet-shaver, but also a really really well performing gear. Omega shaving cream made by Proraso brings strong eucalypti cooling effect along with the nice scent. It's extremely soothing to skin. And Omega wooden handle shaving brush is a great performer. It just explodes any soap and cream into rich lather in a minute or so. I personally even almost switched to it as to my go-to brush. I recommend this kit to all, who want to try wet-shaving without braking the bank, as well as to the ones who are already experienced and curious of Proraso and Omega products.

Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Tube (150ml)
Review: I bought this despite some concerns over the scent, having seen reviews and comments which made reference to the strength of the menthol smell. The cream certainly does have a strong and unique scent. When you apply it, the cream smells like a mix of toothpaste and Vicks Vapour Rub, but somehow it's actually quite invigorating while you're shaving. It also calms down to a mild minty smell once you've rinsed your face. Also, the menthol/ eucalyptus content provides a lovely cooling feeling while you shave.
I shaved with this for the first time last night, and got a fantastic shave with absolutely no irritation. The cooling effect means it's a really great cream for summer, and one that will be getting plenty more use from me.

Review: Like Mr. Watson, I was rather curious about straight razor shaving, however, I am just downright lazy and really would not be suited to honing and stroping my razor if I invested in a traditional one, so decided to take the plunge and get a shavette.
* THIS PRODUCT DELIVERED WITHIN 2 DAYS =) GREAT SERVICE *
First impressions when I got this razor out of the box was: wow this thing is light. Then the worst nightmare, the fear that the product is faulty! Be careful not to push the arm with the razor blade too far into the casing otherwise you risk jamming it in the casing, which I did unintentionally by dropping it!
Once prised out of the jammed casing, I quickly and effortlessly loaded it up with a derby half double-edged blade and began.... chopping my face to bits! I came out bleeding more than one of Jigsaw's sadistic "games" in the SAW movies.
Once I got the hang of it second time round, my face is as smooth as a baby's bottom and the shavette looks rather cool in my bathroom tidy. Would recommend this product for anyone wishing to break into this hobby.
Would sincerely recommend having a shower first to properly soak your face and open your pores (especially if you have sensitive skin) otherwise you definitely gonna cut yourself!

Review: Well built razor for a good price!
This one's a nice one, good looking too. I've up until now only used cartridge razor (more specifically a fake mach3 razor from lidl), so my reference are not safety razors but razors in general. I find shaving easy and smooth with my light bearded face. I do not generally seek a super close shave, rather a soft, pleasant and non-irritated feeling with some stuble left for good measure.
The razor clearly exceeded my expectations and the price is about the same as gillette fusion (whitout extra cartridges). I cannot do anything but recommend this product.

Review: It's a small tiny shave buddy. I use it to shave my neck area, which is very sensitive to traditional DE razor (I use Merkur 34C), but under mild touches of this shavette my neck goes close shaved and irritation free. Some say that shavettes are a lot less forgiving than the traditional cut-throat razors. Can't argue that since I don't have any experience with straight razors. It very light, but handy enough to keep it angled right. Just a little tip - to loose the fastener cap on top, just push the faux blade a little bit more inside. Worth to try SR1 and SR2 - the metal ones.

However I can not say the same about T&H's Sandalwood cream. This scent is the way it should be, rich and understated. You can tell they have paid attention to detail, and I was suprised to find I could still get hints of the scent even two hours later, not in a in your face way, but when I had a a really good snff, I couldn't get enough of the stuff. The packaging alone is enough to out do the competition. Latherabilty is excellent, as expected, a little goes along way. If you want the true Sandalwood experience, go for this.

But don't be mistaken, whilst lathering, this is a monster! Excellent water retention, soft bristles, and superb backbone so you can really give your face that vigorous scrub if wanted. One thing I have to mention is the density of this brush, bar none, Simpsons really have jam packed this thing so it gives the experience of shaving with a much larger brush. Superb crasftsmanship, handmade, excellent finish. I could go on all day, but I intend to tkae this brush with me to the grave, but it will probably out live me!

It's the only word that sums up the immediate difference I noticed. These blades are far sharper than my old Merkur blades with no tugging whatsoever. I have a fairly stiff growth and no other DE blade gives me as close a shave as these. They are the only DE blades I have tried that get anywhere close to a straight razor smoothness.
I use with my travel setup when I can't take my straight: T&H; pre-shave oil, Mitchell's Woolfat Soap, razor and best badger brush from D.R. Harris, alum block and Geo. T Trumper Skin Food. Smooth.

Product: Parker 98R Heavy Duty Premium Barberpole
Review: Having found that the replacement blades for my Philips electric razor were going to cost more than the razor itself I decided it was time for a change.
When I started shaving it was with Gillettes but was put off by the cost of replacement cartridges, and the fact that it seemed every time I needed new ones they weren't being stocked anymore so I had to buy a new handle as well. Being a Yorkshire man this strain on my pocket was too much, hence the change to electric.
After much research it was clear that DE was the way to go cheaper blades that may last longer and perhaps an end to the dreaded shaving rash. Unfortunately I then found the clear change wasn't so clear with the number of handles available, so it was back to the research. After many hours trawling the internet I thought I was set on the Merkur 38C from Shaving Shack having seen many positive reviews, especially from new converts, that was until I laid eyes on the Parker 98R, so similar and yet less expensive, it was calling me.
When it arrived I have to say I was astounded by its size and weight, even though it tells you both in the details, it still came as a surprise. However, in use, both are a great advantage allowing you to grip the razor in a way that best suits you and also damping any shake you may have, reducing risk of accidents. For my first shave with a DE this was undeniably of great help to me and I came away nick free with the best shave of my life.
The construction of this razor is fantastic and just oozes quality so lacking in many modern products. From the sharpness of the pattern on the grip, which ensures it wont slip even in soapy hands, to the cleanness of the thread where head joins to handle, meaning this razor will surely outlast me, and I'm only 29!
If you're considering this razor I thoroughly recommend it, you wont be disappointed.

There are other creams twice the price that I'd be hard-pressed to recommend over them. After my brush has been soaking I shake out excess water, put a dab of cream inside and work the brush on my face until a slick, creamy lather forms. I consistently great lathers and great shaves this way and this cream never lets me down. The scent is a delicious marzipan which smells strong in the tub but doesn't linger for long, so it won't clash if you like to finish your shave with a cologne or aftershave. Packaging is a sturdy plastic tub, perhaps not the prettiest, but it's the top-notch product inside that'll keep me coming back.

Review: I have always been interested in staright razor shaving, having seen these razors in countless films and such, it always looked so cool. Plus the skill and time involved in maintaining and using these razors is obvioulsy something to take pride in.
However, the straight razors, and the strops and hones required are expensive. Plus I am cursed with sensitive skin on my face. I know, I should just man up and get on with it! But to see if the style and manner of straight razor shaving agreed with me and my tempramental skin, I thought I would give this Parker Shavette a try.
The shavette is quite light in weight although feels solid enough, and is easy to load up with half a double edged blade.
The first time I used it I took it slowly and managed to work it round the contours and angles of my face, although still managed to end up with so many nicks, nacks and then some more nicks that Spike Milligan could have done a poem about the experience! I have used it a few times since and I am getting better, although still getting used to it.
It does give a smooth result, and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to give straight razor shaving a bash.

Product: Taylor Of Old Bond St Sandalwood Soap and Bowl
Review: I purchased 2 of these bowl sets one for myself and another for my Grandfather; he has been an avid shaver for many years and I know that he'll appreciate the little bit of luxury these sets provide. Firstly I have to commend the fast delivery that I received and the goods were packaged well. From start to finish the whole product exudes elegance, the neat cream box with classic font labelling is testament to the quality that British manufacturers can produce and this is before you even get to the product! The bowl is a beautiful and simple wood affair and when the lid is removed the piece looks great, the soap is fitted snugly inside and smells amazing, Sandalwood is just one of those classic 'manly' musky smells and the fragrance is beautifully strong; however not suffocating or overpowering at all, it's prominent but light. With the size of the bar I can see it lasting a long time and the fact that the soap sits so snugly means that there isn't an excess amount of water sitting at the bottom of the bowl going stagnant and ruining the bottom of the soap. It lathers brilliantly and created a great thick and very moist lather on the face - I lathered it into the bowl first and then applied, however on a second pass I did lather directly onto the face and it worked equally as well and gave a great shave. It didn't dry out quickly and the remaining lather after shaving was removed quickly without any soapy sliminess nor did it leave that dry pasty feeling that I sometimes experience from soaps. I have very sensitive skin and this felt fine all the way through even after working it on for 2nd/3rd pass. After shaving I put on aftershave balm and moisturiser, this morning I moisturised again and put some aftershave on however I can still smell the scent, albeit very subtly. All in all this soap is fantastic, the product is (in my opinion) a display of how Great Britain can be and proves why we were once world leaders because we created exceptional products and made the effort to produce items of the highest quality without considering the detrimental effect on profit margins, you can tell it's made by people who want to provide a luxurious service. At the end of the day it's an affordable price as it will last a long time, if you want to look after your face and experience a brilliant product with a classic smell then this is the product for you, however if you'd prefer to slop on a slimy 74p gel that smells like radioactive lemons and limes then you'd best look elsewhere.

Product: Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic
Review: Its hard to say anything about this cracking razor that hasn't already been said. It really is a great shaving tool from all aspects. It feels good, it looks good and it shaves amazingly well.
I went to a 34c after using a Wilkinsons Sword Classic DE razor. I wanted to use something that was a bit better quality, as the Wilkinsons Classic has a plastic handle and head, which makes it very light and flimsy feeling. I checked about several web sites and found the Shaving Shack to have the biggest selection of quality razors as well as a great number of user reviews. I chose the 34c, and it arrived through the door very promptly.
Overall I am very happy with the product and service, and I have already recommended several friends and colleagues to check out the shaving shack and to get rid of their mach 3's.

Product: Truefitt & Hill Luxury Shaving Soap and Wood Bowl (99g)
Review: One of my favourite soaps. The smell is great and fresh (little bit lavender and other fresh flowers). A other good thing: The soap is based on fully natural oils (no tallow and no mineral oil products) - The lather is quite right not too thick and not too thin and well protecting during shaving. It is my weekend soapI assume because of this the soap will last years.
And one thing is for free: the feeling of standing in the row of famous users of the T&H; history ;)

Product: Taylor of Old Bond St Shaving Cream (Sandalwood 150g)
Review: Great lather like used from Taylor creams. Also the smell is good Sandalwood. The only drawback: The smell is coming from perfume only not from the essential oil of the sandalwood tree so you can not expect the benefits of the essential oil (aroma therapy) this is a little bit disappointing because of the statement herbal aromatics but like mentioned for the shaving procedure itself this has no impact.

Review: My first DE razor and it's a welcome change from my Mach 3 Turbo. Beautifully made, the finish appears solid and unlikely to flake, and so small, too. Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: I can see this becoming a permanent fixture in my shaving stuff. The first cream I've used and it's fairly easy to get a nice lather, even with the slightly rubbish brush I'm using. It's a hard cream, but the writing on the tub says it's a soap. I think the texture is probably a hybrid of cream and soap.
It smells nice, a clean and fresh scent, probably more suited to warmer months. I would actually prefer that the scent was stronger, it's pretty mild and doesn't last long. It leaves a lovely tingling feeling on the skin and has a cooling sensation. Overall it's easy to see why Proraso has been around for so long, a classic.

Product: Merkur 33C Classic Double Edge Razor
Review: Aged 20, I've only recently needed to start shaving on a regular basis. I didn't want to carry on using cartrage razors as they felt very aggressive on my face, so I decided to start as I meant to go on and use a DE.
I read a few things about different razors and non adjustable Merkurs seemed to be the most recommended for those starting out. I was originally going to get the Merkur 34C but it was sold out. I came across the 33C which has a narrower handle and is around 10g lighter (it's also cheaper by about a fiver).
It arrived quickly from Shaving Shack along with a tub of proraso and free Israeli blades. The razor was smaller than I imagined but feels very well balanced. It also seems very well made and all parts of the razor fit together snugly.
The shave was excellent considering it was my first time using a DE. The razor has enough weight to it so no extra pressure is required. I didn't get any cuts or razor burn. The handle has a good grip so there is little chance of it slipping out of your hand.
Overall I would recommend the 33C if you are just starting out. This seems to be a good razor for increasing your confidence in DE and for improving your technique. It has really kick started my interest in wet shaving and I'm looking forward to adding more razors to my collection. Well it's not a collection at the moment since I only have this one.
Also more experienced shavers may want to consider this as a fairly cheap and compact razor for travelling.

Review: I am not usually impressed enough with anything to bother writing a review, but for this I'll make an exception. Having used pre shave oils, and find that they improve the shave but not by much, this really does help. I used to make three passes with the razor, with, accross and against the grain. With this product I only need two, with and against. Leaves your skin feeling cool and refreshed too.

Offers the closest shave I've ever had, no more stuble rash or ingrowing hairs. Looks great and actually makes shaving a pleasure to do. I've raved about the razor so much my dad and brother-in-law now have one.

Review: I had the privilege of taking one of these home this weekend. After applying some excellent Omega shaving cream I let this razor loose around my face.
One word comes to mind and that's "smooth" which contrasts nicely with it's "real man" razor image, as defined by it's weight and it's purposeful ruggedness. I did two passes which left me wth a very close shave.
It has excellent grip and adopts Parker's famous butterfly mechanism making really easy to change blades - simply turn the knob at the bottom of the razor to open up the butterfly and plonk the razor blade in...simple.

Review: Design of this razor suites my taste well: simple and classic 3 piece DE razor, a fusion of Art Deco design with modern crafting technologies and superb materials - finish is just flawless... real piece of art.
Slightly top heavy, but in overall well balanced and gives solid feel in hand.
The grip is not so prominent as those on e.g. Merkurs razers, but certainly offers an appropriate holding ability in wet conditions (handle pattern is not here just for decoration, it is pretty functional).
Very user friendly, refine, non agresive razor, that gives a great shave, and by all means is worth every penny...
btw. delivery was very fast.

Product: Safety Razor Value Kit (Choice of razors)
Review: This is my first experience of wet shaving, so not being sure if it would suit me I was attracted to the price of this kit. I went for the Knightsbridge 90R razor. The weight is ideal for me and the butterfly opening makes changing razors very quick, safe and they always line up. Out of the three different razors blades I have tried the derbys and feathers. Both are nice but the feathers seem to give a closer shave. The Omega set is very nice, the cream feels very nice on the face, so much better then foam. The brush is good but when it wears out I will upgrade to a badger brush. The Styptic pencil does what it should. If you are thinking about changing the way you shave then this kit is a great place to start

Product: Oakwood Bowl with Soap (Small)
Review: What a lovely little bowl, I bought this to match the furniture in my bathroom and it really fits in. I use this with some Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap, being a small bowl (shaving shack sell a larger one), I used cheese grater to make my soap fit, and it really works well. The handle on the top is more decorative than usable, but hey, you can work that out from the photos and dimensions are published in the description. The varnish coating the wood is nice and light, so you can feel the texture of the wood when you hold it, like most of the products sold on this site, this bowl is a quality item that will last for years

Review: Research can be a curse, what started out as me checking whether 10 was a good price for a shaving brush, turned into a full-on shaving project. While I can't compare this brush to others, I can confirm that it will exceed the expectations of a beginner! I couldn't find anywhere online that was cheaper than the shaving shack for a silver-tip brush, let alone a BK4. Very comfortable, very enjoyable, very easy to get a quality lather (now that I've got my technique working) - What more can I say? Who knew shaving could be enjoyable? There is something very satisfying about buying a product that will last for years.

Product: Merkur 38C Barberpole
Review: Ah, my first steps into the world of DE shaving. For 10 years I shaved with clippers, maintaining a constant level of stubble. I'd given up on wet shaving due to the horrific rash I would always get the next day, and besides, every time I was clean shaven (weddings, interviews etc) people would always comment that I looked 12 yrs old!! Time moves on....looking young could now be considered a high quality problem. A quick search on the internet might lead you to think that the best shave comes from potions and gadgets, however proper research reveals that solutions for today can be found in products from the past, a good brush, quality soap, a faithful razor and cheap (high quality) blades. I'm 3 weeks in, the learning curve has been enjoyable, and the results are better than I ever achieved in 1 year with a Gillette mach 3, or 3 months with an electric razor. Shaving is now a pleasure, and my Merkur 38C will probably last forever.

Product: Gillette 7 O' Clock Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: These blades are produced in St. Petersburg Russia and they are by far the smoothest and most comfortable blade at its price point that I have used to date. These blades differ from the Russian 7 O'clock PermaSharp blades in smoothness and sharpness IMHO. The SharpEdge blades are coated where as the PermaSharp blades are not. I am not sure sure about the same blades that are produced in India, I have not tried them.
I have tried this blade in several razors, and with many different soaps and creams. With every trial run, I get excellent results and of course some are better with certain soap/cream and razor combinations than others but I still get steller results compared to other blades I have used.
I find these blades just as smooth and sharp as Feather but far cheaper. The only thing I feel the Feathers have over the SharpEdge blades is the fact that they seem to last longer than the SharpEdge blades.
If you like Feathers, I urge you to give these a try. They might surprise you.

Product: Kent BK4 Silver Tip Badger Shaving Brush (White)
Review: Having decided that DE shaving is definitely for me after a month of using the value bristle brush, and with a bonus coming up, I treated myself to the BK4.
I was worried that it would be a little on the small side, but don't be fooled - the knot fans out very wide and it looks massive on my face as I'm applying a lather. I'm 6ft 3 with large hands, and this brush is the perfect size. Beautifully soft, it whips up mounds of lather in seconds. I've used it with Omega Cream, Colonel Conk Amber soap and Cyril Salter Sandalwood cream and it handles them all without any problems.
I've had it almost a week, used it daily and it hasn't shed a hair. A very worthwhile investment, and one likely to last me for many, many years to come.
Review: I cannot rate this cream highly enough; the scent is simply divine and lingers on the skin for hours after shaving. I felt like a lord shaving with this incredibly-lathersome product, and smelled like one afterwards.
It lubricates the skin beautifully for the shave and makes the whole experience slick, safe, close and an absolute treat.
One to pamper yourself with.

Product: Merkur Matt Silver Handle Safety Razor 38002
Review: This is the first "proper" DE that I bought, and I can advise it to any new-starter or veteran of wet-shaving. After trying some cheap Chinese DE variants, being unsatisfied by the experience, I took my chance with Merkur, which seems to never fail its customers. The hardest part was the "Which Merkur to start?" and after long hours of research, it was between 34 and 38C. As this is the new 38C with enhanced features (combining the best features), it was pretty easy to call last decision.
The 2-piece structure is same with 38C, a crucial point in replacing the razor blades. The blade is hefty, which is totally necessary for blade to cut the beard (not forcing the user to "scrape off"). All you need is to glide the blade, and it will be a German piece of art in your hand.
Long handle is something desired for people with bigger hands, but it does not create any problems with guys with smaller ones.
In summary, Merkur does it again, and delivers what "Solingen" stands for in wet-shaving...
