Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Post Shave Balm (100ml)
Review: Wow. This stuff is amazing, not only does it hydrate the skin, it helps stop and nicks and cuts from bleeding, and any chance of razor burn trying to appear was kicked right in the but by this bad boy. Thank you so much blue beard
Review: Bought this as I wanted something less aggresive than the 38c. It sure fits the bill. Very light, well balanced and easy to hold. Now I have quite sensitive skin but coupled with a feather this razor glides across my face.
Very forgiving razor and an excellent first choice for anyone new to de shaving especially if like me you have sensitive skin.
Review: I started using this razor after having used a Merkur 38c for a few years and the difference is significant. The 38c was a good razor (compared to a Mach 3) but it was still a little aggressive in certain situations. The Futur however, with its variable setting allowing for more sensitive skin, solved this problem and all I had to do was dial the setting down to about 1.5 or 2 to make a more comfortable less aggressive shave. The weight and feel of the Futur is perfect - no pressure is required on the skin and it cuts off stubble with ease. Make sure you use a Feather blade if you want the most closest shave possible but you might not have any skin left either if you're too aggressive!

Review: I wanted to get into wet shaving so I came to The Shaving Shack for my products.
This was the first DE razor that caught my eye, it looked great and i have heard the name 'Merkur' before on shaving forums, (mostly positive).
So for 17 pounds I didn't think much could go wrong.
I received the parcel and the razor was in a nice little cardboard box, I wish it would have come in a plastic box as well as the card so I could use it for travelling, but it doesn't matter. I found that wrapping the razor in a dry wash cloth does the trick.
The razor isn't as dark as it looks on the picture, but I prefer the way it looks for real anyway.
It is a prefect weight and it gave me a great first shave, I experienced a few nicks and cuts but that was down to my lack of skill when it comes to shaving, but they were quickly fixed with my shaving shack styptic pencil, which worked a treat by the way.
Because I spent over a tenner I received a free gift, I chose feather blades. The free gift really was the icing on the cake.
Thanks Shaving Shack.

Review: After having various levels of success with different blades I'd thought I'd give these a try. I use a Parker 22 and found that these were fantastic. Very smooth and no nicks or irritation. I understand they may not be for everyone, but you should give them a try. What have you got to loose? The only downside is that they only last me 3-4 shaves before starting to "pull" at my skin. But IMHO well worth it.

Review: Never used a pre shave balm before but after reading many reviews ordered this little jar of balm.
In short its like rubbing acid on your face and is awesome. Needless to say it wakes you up in the morning. It only requires a small pea sized ball rubbed into your face before applying shaving foam. No need to say much more as many already have. Does what it says on the tin
I would like to add that i wouldn't ever use it as a post shave balm. This is due to its relative expense and i am currently a great fan of alcohol free face moisturiser as shaving soap tends to dry my face out.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Washbag
Review: When receiving my new shaving set i wanted a bag to keep it all together neatly when storing it in my small bathroom and for traveling elsewhere, but yet be conveniently designed to access everything inside when i actually want to use the contents of it.
The bag folds open and can be hung up by the hook and still access the contents without decorating the floor. It stores my merkur razor inside its box, large soup bowl, pre shave balm, post shave balm, countless blades, a cotton towel and my shaving brush again inside a travel case (more for protection rather then necessity) comfortable. The bag closes via a clip which can be extended if you wish to cram more items inside it. The price is a little steep for what is essentially a bag. But the ease of use (not to mention the manly skull and crossbones on the front) and purpose design makes it worth that little more. The travel mirror inside detaches via a velcro back (would only use it as a last resort as its really small).
On the whole its a great quality made bag. Designed for the purpose of traditional shavers who have many of products to store.

Review: This is an excellent razor. I have been using a quattro for ages now and it does not compare to the double edged razor, i have never had a better shave other than a cutthroat at the barbers. the textured handle is a brilliant touch as wet soapy hands don't slip. 10/10
Review: An extremely sharp and fine piece of metal this razor blade cuts through even the most stubborn stubble. Perfect for those difficult to remove hairs under the chin or your whiskers. However there is a drawback - you must use these blades with care otherwise you will look like a bleeding mess afterwards! Be gentle and remember no pressure - you will be rewarded with a perfectly close shave. Far more useful than Derby blades. Compared to pricey Mach 3 blades these are a bargain and they will do a better job - another reason why DE blades trump cartridge shaving.

Review: After shaving many years on multi bladed cartridges, i got fed up with the pulling, tugging shave experience and the cost of very expensive replacement blades. 5 blades never made any diffirence and all a marketing hype. So i decided to do my research and came across DE safety razors, reminded me of grandad's razor. I then purchased the Merkur 34c HD as it was considered an entry level DE... I never looked back since, I've had the best shave since. No nicks, no ingrown hairs and a very close shave. Partnered with Taylor's sandalwood cream and badger brush, my shaving wet shaving is no longer a chore but almost like a very pleasant hobby. Old school it may be but great craftsmanship and engineering produced precise cutting edge technology and not forgetting low cost in the long run as blades are dirt cheap. Brilliant! Review: This is definitely a good brush for the price. The pros are it holds a plenty of water and lather enough for 4 passes. I also lathers soap very quickly. This brush lost quite a bit of hair the first 5 times I used it. Hasn't lost any hair since. It took about 2 weeks for this brush to really break in. At first it felt quite rough on my face. I prefer cup lathering over face lathering with this brush since the hairs are a little too rough for face lathering even after breaking in.

Review: Once I learned to lather this stuff it gave me the best shaves of my life! My skin had never felt the same after shaving. I didn't feel any need for aftershave balm even during the cold and dry winter in Finland. The lather is very rich and glides well providing an awesome cushion. Makes easily enough lather for three or even more passes if you cup lather. A must try for all wet shavers.
Review: I received a pack of these blades as a free gift with my order. After about a month of De shaving I wanted to give them a try since every other blade I had tried seemed not to be sharp enough to shave ATG. Feathers gave me the smoothest shave ever but also some irritation and blood the first time. During the following shaves I was more careful, remembering to apply absolutely no pressure. My shaves improved a lot and even the 4th shave with the same blade gave me BBS. Feathers are good since they teach you the right technique right away.

Review: Having shaved with different Merkurs (Progress, HD, Futur) and being very pleased I went for the open combed Muhle. To put it short- its SUBERB. Its so smooth that I this morning actually had to check if I had forgot to put a blade in the razor. The craftmanship is of higher quality than of the Merkurs (alignment, finish). The head`s curve is excellent and will allow you to shave close in trickier parts of the face (under the nose in my case). This razor is a delight to look and hold and its qualities makes this to the best razor out there. Easily. Even the Progress wont beat the closeness of the shave of this excellent razor.

Product: Merkur Travel Razor 933CL
Review: There a certain memories I entertain from childhood of watching my late father partake in his daily ritual shave. I recall sneaking a play with his old double edge razor when I aged 12, mimicking his routine. Years later when the raging testosterone produced more hair than the illusive Yeti, I turned to a double edge razor for my own shaving routine.
As time evolved, I tried a variety of cartridge blade razors but as prices rose for replacement cartridges it only seemed like good economic sense to pick up my old plastic DE. I have used this consistently for over the past 5 years and of late I thought I would treat myself to a new Merkur. Being a regular traveller and camper, I wanted something light but of a quality stable. The Merkur as not failed to impress me. It is a small and light and as such excellent for the purpose of intended use.
My first shave with it was superb, and even though I have big hands, the tiny handle holds comfortably and safely in my hand to produce a clean, smooth and fast shave.
German quality, great as an all rounder and for travel, and the head gets into all nooks of the face and fulcrum.
I also purchased a Merkur 1904 for my 22 year old son, so to keep the family shaving traditional alive. This is also a wonderful design and functioning small razor, which is also ideal for travel.
I certainly would commend these wonderful products and the excellent attentive service of Shaving Shack.

Product: Omega Shaving Cream and Bristle Brush (147g)
Review: Got this in the mail a couple of days ago and I was positively surprised with this cream considering that it was so cheap. When I got it I probably did what most of us do when getting a new soap or cream we havent tried before and thats to give it a good long smell, and I must admit that I didnt like the smell and I regretted buying it. But Im not a person to dismiss something that fast so the next morning I decided to give it a go, and I dont regret it either!
Making the lather was super easy and fast using my badger brush and you only need to use a small amount for making the lather, so a tube will last you a long time. I like the tube that it comes with since it doesnt have a fixed size like most creams, so as more of the cream you use the smaller the tube gets since you role it together as you use it, making it a nice travel companion.
Now the smell that I didnt like turned out to smell pretty good in lather form, it had a good non overpowering eucalyptus smell and my girlfriend liked it, so this was a very pleasant surprise for me. The lather performed great and have pretty good moisturizing properties, since the cream have eucalyptus and menthol in it you will get a nice tingling and cooling effect, even after the shave.
The brush that comes with the cream is not the best there is but it gets the job done and I have made it my travel brush, so if you are planning on starting wet shaving on a regular basis I would advise you to invest in a badger brush also since you probably will get one in the future.
Overall you will get a cheap but very good shaving cream that is worth every penny and the brush that comes along is a good start for a beginner.

Product: Progress Vulfix 660 Pure Badger Shaving Brush
Review: After reading other reviews on Shaving Shack prior to buying this brush, I was slightly disappointed with this when it arrived.
Positives first: the price is good, it hasn't lost a hair and it's certainly a huge improvement on any synthetic brush. It holds water well, mixes up a good lather and is kind to the face.
My disappointments are various. The description specifically mentions a stiffer brush for soap but I find it noticeably less stiff than my other, older (also pure) badger brush which made no such claims about stiffness. When applying lather to the face, I find that the bristles splay out in an unsatisfactory way - of course all brushes will splay but my other brush splays so that the tips are still pointing to and massaging my face as the lather is applied. The Vulfix 660 splays so that the tips curve away and the shafts are in contact with my face, simultaneously a less pleasant experience and less effect in terms of lather application. Finally, the plastic handle is too light in the hand and feels cheap.
Most of these disappointments arise from perhaps unfair comparison with my other brush which was slightly more expensive several years ago - I'm sure that if this was the first badger brush I'd tried I would be very satisfied with it. If you've already got a pure badger brush and are looking for something different to what you're used to, you might want to keep looking.

Get this with the wooden bowl if you can afford to, add beauty and class to your bathroom shelf.

Product: Parker 32R Chrome Effect Shavette (SR2)
Review: After my cheap ebay shavette broke, I decided to get a better made one. I am not disappointed, the weighting is wonderful and due to the all metal blade holder, unlike those with plastic tang, means that there is no movement amplified from jogs of the hand.
Also, the pivot joint is just right, it is not swinging loose, yet it does not lead to a hurting pinky (while still providing a great grip).
The blade holding mechanism took two attempts fire time to get the blade parallel to the holder, but it holds it incredibly securely and a lot firmer than others I have tried before.
Overall, this is a worthwhile investment and will hopefully be used in years to come.

Review: Great price item with excellent german engineering quality. I bought this as a back up for my Merkur Futur, and you can tell the difference. A much less aggressive shave but if you are used to a Merkur can seem a little blunt in comparison. All in all a great value starter or back up razor.
Review: A very unforgiving blade. So they weren't for me. In my personal opinion they don't even come close to Merkur's double edge razor blades, which unfortunately, Shaving Shack don't sell.
Review: Decided to replace a very basic DE razor which is left at the better half's with something more like my Parker DE razor. Turns out I had enough shave points to cover this one, so duly ordered it. The razor turned up, and was found to be a good looking, nicely weighted piece of kit. Stubby compared to the Parker, and I prefer the longer handle, but this razor - once I had got used to its shorter length - shaves as well as the Parker and makes a decent change every so often...suffice it to say, the basic razor it replaced has now gone to DE heaven. Good razor, nicely balanced and weighted: if any starters are reading, you might want to try a longer handle first but it'll come down to personal preference of course.
Review: Just got this in the mail and my first impression when I took it out of the box was WOW, this is a nice razor and it truly is a beautiful razor to look at. But it has more to it than just good looks, the razor is perfectly balanced and it has a small and compact head that makes it very maneuverable and makes it easy to shave. The razor wont give an aggressive shave and is pretty forgiving which is good for those that are new to wet shaving or have sensitive skin but it will still give you a very close shave, I believe that this is a perfect razor to give away as a gift to someone that have never wet shaved before.

Product: Parker Model 22 "Interceptor" Metal Safety Razor with Gunmetal Finish
Review: After using this a couple of times I can say this about it. The overall look of the razor is nice and the gun metal finish makes it stand out amongst rest of the nice and shiny razors on the marked. The feel of the razor in my fairly large hands is good and I have 100 % control no matter where on my face I shave and in what position the razor is, this is largely thanks to the almost 10 cm long handle that is a huge advantage for us with large hands and the milling gives a good grip when its wet.
This is a fairly aggressive razor that is good for people with heavy and thick beards but not so good for people with sensitive skin and not used to wet shaving, so you got to remember that you should not apply pressure when shaving, let the weight of the razor do the work. Overall this is a good razor considering the price, but since its fairly aggressive I would not recommend it as a first razor for someone that have never have shaved with a double edge razor before, for a complete newbie I would recommend a Muhle R106 Double Edged Chrome Safety Razor that you can find here in the store, gives a much milder shave that is good for new guys.

Review: This is my first step into the world of straight-razor shaving after using DE's for a while.
The Dovo Shavette is well made and easy to maintain. The blade is held tightly in the red plastic holder and is easy to change and keep clean. This is a very light shavette and takes some getting used to - you have to apply far less pressure than you feel you should and maintain a good angle. Take care!!! This is very unforgiving, sharper than a normal straight and oh so easy to cut your self with. This said it has only taken a few attempts to get cut-free, comfortable and extremely close shaves.
I highly recommend it to any one with the patience and courage to go for that extra close morning shave.
Thanks, Harry.

Product: The Goodfella Satin Black Safety Razor
Review: This razor not only looks amazing but also gives a very good and comfortable shave. Like any new razor it takes a couple of weeks to learn the techniques required to get the best out of it. For the first few goes I was disappointed as I did not get a very close shave. I then realised that the optimum angle is very different from my previous favourite the Merkur 34c. Also, because the head is very light weight slight pressure is needed (you would have to press quite hard to cut yourself). Now I get at least as good a shave as I am used to with significantly less irritation. This is most noticable on the upper lip where the increased maneuverability afforded by the very slim head means that the correct shaving angle can be maintained right up to the nose.
In all I am extremely happy with my purchase. It's a shame that this razor is quite rare and expensive because with its non aggressive setup it would be an amazing introduction to DE shaving for the masses, and, with it's fantastically good modern looks Gillette would need to be worried.

Review: Bought this as I wanted to "upgrade" the boar bristle brush which I've had for a few years now. The experience is much better, so soft and smoth, a real feeling of quality for a competitive price. It's much more densely packed than my old brush which creates a fantastic lather with my TOBS cream. In a word, opulence, (and my kids like the skull and crossbones!)

Ordered on Wed night and my order arrived on Sat morn, well! what a fatastic bit of kit! could not believe how close the shave was and only 2 passes.I cannot reccomend this razor or Shave Shack enough. Big thankyou to Dan and his staff for the excellent service,I will certainly be using you for all my shaving needs in the future.

Review: I didn't like the Treet blade in my Merkur 38C as it did not seem to shave close enough and felt very rough. I put a new Treet blade in my Merkur Futur and the difference was unbelievable. Very smooth close shave with no irritation. The blade lasted for 4 shaves before I changed it.. Worth giving them a try.

Product: Kent BK8 Silver Tip Badger Shaving Brush (White)
Review: I received this great Kent BK8 brush a few days ago and am very impressed. I had read that many shavers view the Kent silvertip brushes as too soft or "floppy". However,I will have to strongly disagree. I have used this brush with Castle Forbes Lime Oil shave cream and also with a rather hard shaving soap. The brush produces an enormous amount of good, thick lather with both products. And the bristles are supremely soft and comfortable on the skin.Additionally, the size of the brush is just right. Very handy indeed. An additional note; I also have a Kent BK12 brush and this BK8 is much, much smaller and easier to use. I would also like to thank Dan(?)in customer service. He was a great help in advising me on the pounds to American dollars rate and also gave me what amounted to a $20 discount to offset the VAT that I initially paid by mistake. Finally, the brush took only 4 or 5 days to arrive in California from Great Britain.Rapid delivery. I give a 5 star rating to this brush as well as the great people at the Shaving Shack. "Bravissimo amici".

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Luxury Shaving Cream (100ml)
Review: Would I Recommend? Absolutely! One aspect of this cream is its 'beard-reducing' properties which doesn't seem to be too impressive to the more traditional shavers. Personally I'm not too worried if my beard lessens slightly, and the extra chemicals in the cream don't bother me. I don't think Shaving Shack needed to add this USP as it is a great cream anyway, but I assume they are going for a specific market. Anyway, I urge anyone sitting on the fence to give this a try.

Product: Israeli Made Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: These little blades give a really smooth, close shave. I have very fine, dense growth and have always had a problem finding something gentle enough to not irritate my skin, while aggressive enough to cut down each hair without too many passes. These blades seem to be the perfect match for me, gently mowing each hair down in just two passes. My girlfriend says I've never been smoother, and at approximately 26 pence per blade, there's no way I could ever complain.

Product: Progress Vulfix 660 Pure Badger Shaving Brush
Review: For what you pay, It's a great entry into badger brush shaving. Holding plenty of water and having lots of backbone, it deals with soaps a treat.
However, It's not nearly as soft on the face as a properly broken in boar brush, which can often be found for a little less.
Or a better badger can be found for a little more.
I love this brush, and it would be great for anyone who lathers in a bowl, but if it broke soon, I'd replace it with a slightly more expensive brush.

Product: Proraso Ultra-Sensitive Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: More of a soft soap than a cream. This cream has a somewhat milder smell than the Proraso green tub which is also sold on this site. However, like the original, it makes a great lather and is very protective for the skin. It left my face feeling soft and moisturized.
I didn't give it a full rating for only one reason; I really like the smell of Proraso original, and this is just too mild for my liking. I will, however, be using it frequently.

Product: Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream for Ultra Sensitive Skin (100ml)
Review: This stuff is fantastic. I had been using Castle Forbes pre shave which is supposed to be the best there is, but as it smells and feels pretty horrible and costs a fortune I thought i'd try the Proraso. I have quite a corse beard and very sensitve skin (not a good combination). When applied it gives a nice tingling feeling and smells like lemon merangue pie which is certainly not a bad thing. I'm not sure that it softens the beard as much as the Castle Forbes but as it protects the skin much better I am left with much less irritation and a nice smooth shave. I use it with The Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream which is outstanding and finish off with Trumpers Lime Skin Food (I wish they sold that here). I wouldn't like to use the Proraso as a post shaving cream as it would be a bit greasy for me. Also, the tub I have makes no mention of it being used as a post shave. In all I couldn't rate this product more highly especially as it is very reasonably priced.

Have to say that after learning how to shave properly (not too many nicks) I am very impressed by the closeness of the shave. the weight (heavier than Gillette Mach whatever )and dimensions of the razor are just right and allows for a controlled shave without razor burn. Just one point. Don't drop it as the plated finish will show it!

Marlborough is as easy to lather as Mitchells yet to my senses Dr Harris puck seems to be slightly harder and the scent is slightly stronger and has a longer duration. Product: Musgo Real After Shave Classic Scent
Review: Until I tried this I didn't use After shaves because thought the were like throwing fuel on the flame, in stead of treating razor burn they made it burn more.
Not so with Musgo Real AS it has just enough Alcohol to do the job but with none of the usual sting and is packed full of other skin Goodies (Aloe, Witch Hazel and Echinea).
This After shave actually conditions and moisturizes your face better than most Balms or Lotions and a few drops go a LONG way.
The scent is great similar to Mugos Balm but stronger and more lingering, without being over powering.

Product: Parker 98R Heavy Duty Premium Barberpole
Review: Man alive this is an aggresive razor. Takes a little bit of time to master but once you have it gives a fabulous shave. It hamburgers your face if you're used to cartridges and just make sure you don't apply ANY pressure. A bit of time, a well built lather and a sharp blade turns this beast into an accomplished shaving tool. The handle gives a lot of the heft and balances the head well, it really is a chunky monkey but that seems to help in giving it the ability to deliver a BBS every time once mastered. Overall it takes time to master but it is worth the effort.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Luxury Shaving Cream (100ml)
Review: A little bit about my shaving routine. I usually shave after a shower and shave a couple of times a week. I use a pre-shave scrub and shaving gel by Gillette with a brush and a Mach 3 razor. I get a lot of burn and have usually got a 5 O'clock shadow a few hours later. To counteract the irritation, I use more gel and go through large volumes.
So, I now have this new product. I decide to only replace the shaving gel and not change any other part of my shaving routine. The ease of application is striking as is the lasting nature of a small volume of the product. It feels very soothing and the most important for me, no burn. My skin feels smooth and I feel I'm getting a better shave as my "2 hours later" shadow is more a "I'll be back tomorrow" shadow. My face feels less battered and my skin feels better. Also, I feel that hair takes longer to grow back. All in all, this is a brilliant product and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks!

After a few nicks on the first couple of shaves I can now get really close shaves with no rashes or ingrowing hairs, plus with the creams and a good after shave balm you feel really fresh and clean. Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Luxury Shaving Cream (100ml)
Review: Fantastic stuff, end of. My tub arrived this morning and couldn't wait to try it, normally my stubble is very tough and sharp which means I could only shave comfortably with about a week between shaves which meant my stubble was scruffy and irritating.
I tried this right away thinking I wouldn't have anything to lose and wow what a difference. It has only been 3 days since my last shave but Bluebears Revenge made shaving a real joy once again without the thought of days of itching between shaves. Only needed to use a tiny amount, just a slight dab left me with more than enough to do another two peoples faces, the scent of it is amazingly fresh and manly compared to a Mr Trumper. Definately worth the investment and will be ordering again when I eventually run out in a few months.
Well done Shaving Shack for managing to acquire this product.

Product: Kent BK8 Silver Tip Badger Shaving Brush (White)
Review: I always used boar brushes, so I decided to try a badger brush. I choosed to buy a Kent brush because they are famous for the quality of their products. When I received the packet and when I opened it, i felt very excited looking the red presentation case. Once opened I found a wonderful object, not only a brush. The first experience with it was great, the lather was superb, luxurious and very quick to build, perfect with shaving soap. The brush is very soft, like a caress on your skin. This brush is considered "medium sized" but I wouldn't have anything bigger.

Product: Muhle-Pinsel Chrome Shaving Bowl
Review: Being new to the delights of double edge shaving again after a foray into it in the 80's I thought I had better get all the kit to ensure a proper job. Twenty odd years of use of cans of gloop had left me something of a novice at getting a good lather going before the shaving had even commenced. Its only taken a week or so to get the hang though now of using a good cream, bowl and badger brush to really feel the difference. The bowl felt too small for the task in hand at first and wet bubbles regularly slopped over the side, less though of course being more meant that less pressure on the brush, less water in the brush and a little more cream with the brush kept low in the bowl as opposed to trying to whisk eggs meant a really smooth, creamy and most importantly drag reducing lather. The bowl really does pass muster in the "looking cool and all grown up" stakes on the bathroom shelf as well.

Review: I've been using the Revenge of the Bluebeard for a couple of weeks now and thought I'd give it a go for that time first before I posted. It is definitely the best shaving cream I have used. The shave is a lot more comfortable, smoother, requires less hacking of my skin and feels a lot nicer afterwards. I am impressed for sure. Splashing after shave is not as painful as it used to be. I've also used it probably about 10 times (as I shave every other day in the week and hardly ever shave at weekends) and I've hardly even used any of the tub. I will most definitely be purchasing this again in the future (along with the soap) although it could be a long time before I need to.
