Product: Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap and Ceramic Bowl (120g)
Review: I received this for Xmas having never heard of it before, despite it being produced 5 minutes from my house. The soap produces the most amazing, creamy lather that gives a superbly lubricating coating to your stubble. This is easily the best shaving soap I've ever used, my first shave with it was a bit of a rush as I was excited to give it a go. I went in dry with no preparation barring a quick dowse with hot water. Despite this there was no irritation to be seen. Fantastic product

Review: This was my first shavette that i brought to get into using straight/ open blade razors.
This razor with the Gillette 7 O' clock blades is a fantastic little razor. Simple to change the blades very cost effective compared to cartridge razors and blades. Took a while getting used to the tehnique and handling of the straight razor but now after using it for around 6 months it is a great way to shave especially when used with a pre-shave oil and a good shaving cream.
A great razor and at the low price a cheap way to introduce yourself into the world of straight/ open blade shaving.

Review: I brought this cream along with my first shavette and now after using nearly the whole pot, which seems to last a life time, with the shavette and a DE razor i can say its a great shave cream. It has a nice lather from minimal effort and goes onto the face really well. It helps to give a nice shave and makes the skin feel nice after. The coconut scent is really nice not to strong and lasts for a while even after the final rinse of a shave. will definately be buying this again highly recomended.

Product: Parker 33R Black Shavette (SRB)
Review: Bought this as an alternative to a straight razor to see if its the right shaving style for me, I must say its the best razor I've bought (coupled with Lord Single Edge Blades).
The handle is very nice shape to hold and I'm unsure if its an intended design but the lobe on the shank is a good place to put the thumb if your shaving with two fingers either side of the scales (ring finger on the tang). Alternatively if your putting your little finder on the tang and the other three on the other side of the scales then the shoulder is perfectly positioned.
All in all I'd say a brilliant buy for regular shaving, bridging across into straight razors or travel as it means you don't require a strop!

Product: Parker Model 22 "Interceptor" Metal Safety Razor with Gunmetal Finish
Review: Great razor, my first DE razor and Im pleased as punch, it looks great, it feels nice to hold, as a good weight, the twist locking mechanism is nice and makes for easy loading and unloading of the blades.
I have never known a shave like it with this razor in conjunction to Feather blades, two passes and Im as smooth as a babies bum.
I will never go back to cartridges razors.
Review: I possess one of these rare pieces of engineering. I could wax lyrical about this razor but in the interests of a review I will focus in on the characteristic that I enjoy most about this razor: If you are used to the multi head Gillette monsters and have had a bit of a struggle with DE razors in the form of nicks and the occasional slice, then this razor is the most forgiving on the market. You can be almost as carefree with this razor as a Gillette. The Key is in the sharp Feather blade and the the closeness of the gap on the razor, - it protects you from yourself. If you are like me and need to shave every day for work and rarely have a couple of days stubble, which might suit a different razor, then this one is for you.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge 'Deluxe' Kit
Review: Would make a good starter kit for anyone starting out in the traditional wet shaving.
You Just need to Decide Straight Razor or Safety Razor or go for a Shavette.
The Kit Itself.
The Brush is Bore hair i think which will take a while to soften up and you will lose the odd bristles from it until its fully settled in.
So will be a bit firmer than a good badger brush but this whole kit costs less than a decent badger brush.
The pre shave oil spreads well and little needed, its fairly dense in the hand but does spread and actually reminds me of bread dough every time i use it.
The shaving cream has a rather indistinct fragrance to me a little bit chemical like but not unpleasant.
Certainly very little needed and lathers up well on the face without a bowl etc.
The aftershave balm is simple to use but does smell more chemical like to me.
If your wanting to try out the alledged reduction if hair growth the shaving cream and the balm both contain the magical element.
Im trying a 50/50 face comparison....

Product: Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream (100ml)
Review: I just had to write a review about this product. It really is more than I expected it could be. I'd heard a lot about Proraso and read the reviews so I thought I'd give it a try and it blew me away.
I normally shave every other day with a straight razor. My neck area and jawline won't allow consecutive day shaving as the skin just gets too dry and sensitive. But this has made all the difference! You really only need to dab a tiny bit on the end of your finger. Really small amount and then massage it in. It spreads so well and such a tiny amount really does the whole face with some left on my hands. The smell is lovely and the longer you leave it on the more you can feel the menthol effect.
The shave was absolutely incredible! First pass with, then across and then across/against the grain with the neck being done across twice. Afterwards there was no irritation or tightness in my skin at all. Stretching my jaw and neck around caused no discomfort and the skin felt smooth to the touch without any of the usual dryness. No redness or bloodspots. Normally it's a little bit red and very tight and stingy. I really didn't think it would be quite that good.
Shaved again today, another 3 pass shave. Normally even a 2 pass shave would be troublesome the day after but again, absolutely no problems. Skin feels moist and looks great. Well worth the price and will last a long time. Used a bit of Prorasos liquid aftershave balm afterwards as well but it really wasn't necessary on this occasion.
10/10. Every shaver should try this at least once. Fab!

But after using various products in the Bluebeards range and having great results I though I'd give it ago and yet again I wasn't disappointed. I was getting a nasty patch of shaving rash and burn on my neck and no matter how careful I was it still occurred. I switched to derby blades which made and improvement and a few days later started using this oil and the rash/burn has gone. This is a great product and a little goes along way. The smell is great and it's quite thick so it doesn't goes everywhere. It also leaves the skin feeling moisturised. to be honest I haven't experienced any problems with this and can't understand why others have. This oil is now a must have before any shave for me and I'll carry on using it.

Review: After using feather blades for a while now I decided to give these ago as although feather are incredibly sharp I was getting a patch of razor burn and rash no matter how careful I was. Within a couple of days of switching to derby blades I noticed a marked reduction in the burn and rash which was reduced to nothing after using a shaving oil (bluebeards) Although derby blades are not quite as sharp as feather they come a very close second and are not as aggressive on the skin. I would recommend these blades especially to a beginner to DE shaving.

Review: If theres one thing all DE razor affiniciados know it is that Feather makes the sharpest blades around. However, as others have pointed out, that doesnt necessarily make them the best of the bunch for you. If youre a beginner youd do best to stay away from these for a while before going down the Feather route since their sharpness is very unforgiving. The upside is that once your technique is sound these blades deliver a very close shave with minimal need for go arounds. Also, Ive found these to be very consistent in quality which isnt always the case for cheaper options.

The grooves in the bottom of the mug helps to whip up a lather a bit faster than usual and it just carry a serious, luxorious look that really sets the tone on my bathroom counter.
As a bonus it should be mentioned that this very same mug is being sold by other companies with other logos slapped on the front often at double the price. Buying it off the shack is a good deal. So treat yourself!

Product: Gillette 7 O' Clock Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: I know blades are a real individual choice, After trying quite a few blades on the market I do seem to return to the 7o'clock yellows, they give a great smooth shave which you can get a nice BBS finish, the blade is sharp not as sharp as a feather but I would place it just under them. So if you are after a good all round blade for beginner or someone that uses DE razors and you have not tried them I would definitely recommend them.
Review: Great service from the S.Shack, I received a tub of the Citrus and as soon as you open it, the citrus smell hits you (not over powering at all) a nice fresh summer smell, it leaves your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. lather to a nice consistency. Review: Yes these are sharp blades but if you have experience at wet shaving then these will be joy for you to use. They are the sharpest blades I've tried to date and you can really feel the finesse on you face. Product: Merkur 39C Slant Bar DE Long Handled Safety Razor
Review: I've been using this razor for a couple of months now combined with my trusty Feather blades. I use it on my head as well as my face with great results. Previously I had been using a Merkur 20c which is one of the company's more conventional closed comb offerings. By comparison I have found that this razor works best with a denser leather than I would have used with the 20c. The 39c really gets a close shave in much less passes. I really find it very smooth and easy to use and not at all intimidating as some would have you believe, it seems to find the perfect angle on its own. The only downside to this razor is that it is a bit difficult to clean being a two piece, I use an old toothbrush but it's still hard to get to a few bits where the handle meets the head of the razor.
Review: I wouldn't consider using anything else:
After using other blades and having problems with the blades catching and skipping, which lead to cuts and a poor quality shave I decided to give these a go. They are just so smooth. I hardly ever cut myself and don't suffer any irritation.

Now have absolutely no idea why I have been paying tons of money for the plastic mass-market multi-blade razors that would also keep skin cells and may populate bacterias between the blades, where the plastic bars behind them reside.

Product: Parker 31R Stainless Steel All Metal Shavette (SR1)
Review: Simple effective and needs respect.
A cheap and very effective way to dip into Straight edge razor shaving.
However this can put people off straight razors. The fact these take salon blades, essentially half a Safety razor blade and you can indeed break a standard safety blade in half to make two Salon blades. The blades are near as surgically sharp and in a light case you do not have the protection of a safety razor in that you need to set the angle yourself. You would do with a traditional Straight razor.
However a shavette has a extra keen blade in it and is not as forgiving as a traditional straight razor.
These do make great bits of kit for hair detailing and the back of the neck etc.

Review: I Nice fragrances and average lather.
I have found most of the lime creams just dont seam to lather as a lot of other products do.
This is a reasonable lathering cream and the smell is pleasant but oh so fleeting.

Product: Proraso Pre and Post Shave Cream (100ml)
Review: A lot of product for your money.
Can be used pre and post shave, i think its at its best as a post shave balm.
Can feel a bit gritty on the skin post shave but this seams as though its drying your face and as such your fingers feel grippy on your skin.
Smells great and feels good.
If you fan your face with a cloth etc you get a continued cooling facial buzz/blast from the post shaving balm you have put on a real buzz very nice.

Product: Truefitt & Hill Luxury Pre Shave Oil (56g)
Review: Smells Fantastic although fleeting.
I would not have purchased this myself of cost and size.
However Having Been to Truefitt & Hills own Barbers Shop while away for an Anniversary my good lady wife Purchased this for me after i Had A Traditional shave.
You Really do only need a little and even using more seams to make little difference. It does seam very light in its oiling of the face and for me personally i feel i get more lubrication from other facial oils.
Smells Great and makes you feel your treating yourself, however you can get cheaper oils that do more for me personally.
Oh Did i Mention it smells great i love the Citrus notes.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge "Scimitar" Double Edge Razor
Review: Bought the scimitar because I liked the look of it and the name and I was not disappointed great shave.
I will now enjoy shaving every day for a few good years to come
Review: This is so much better than my old Gilette Fusion. My only piece of advice being that it's better to go for presentable, than baby smooth - otherwise buy a styptic pen.
Review: Wow this soap is amazing don't normally write reviews but I normally use porarso and cella which are both brilliant soaps, this came through this morning lathered so easy and when shaving felt so soft and smooth skin feels amazing this is my new favourite soap looks like it will last ages too

Product: Asco Super Stainless Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: All in an all an very good blade. They're pretty sharp and gave me 3 perfect shaves (par for the course for me). The strongest point of this blade is, however, comfort...where these blades excel. For those that like the Derby blade but are looking for something sharper, these are a top recommendation.

Product: Dovo of Solingen Shavette (Blue)
Review: Had another model to this (polished steel one) until it got knicked on holiday!
Decided to replace with this blue one and I think they are the best handling shavettes, the size is perfect for delicate areas and the light weight enables accurate control.
Review: I have tried lots of the blades, yes the feathers are super sharp but always come back to these. Sharp, smooth and very high and consistent quality.

Product: Derby Extra Double Edged Razor blades
Review: This was the first blade I used. The first shave provided a good result but left my skin feeling rather tight. During the second shave, the blade performed poorly and felt dull. I changed mid-shave to an Asco which was much better for me (and performed well for another 3 shaves).
This could be a decent blade for a beginner or someone moving to a more aggressive razor as it seems quite forgiving. I, however, won't be buying any more of these.

Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: I've been using a Wilkinson Sword soap for around a year now because I found that was the only soap that didn't cause breakouts on my skin and nor would I get razor rash (before this it was gels) However the reviews I have read about this left me with no choice but to try it.
Believe what they say!! Lathers up amazingly and I use a basic brush (cost me 10). The menthol on the skin feels amzing and really wakes you up on a morning.
Because of this alone I do feel I will try more soaps but the bar has been set high with this. How to use it: So easy, wet the brush give a few swirls in the tub to gather a bit of lather and that bit wil go an awful long way when you massage it on with your brush. I almost felt guilty for washing my brush after as I saw it go down the plug.

Review: I bought this product for the first time having not previously used a pre-shave oil/lotion and based on the reviews.
However, whilst I think it added to providing a smooth shave, I wouldn't use it again because it smelt and felt like I was applying chip oil!!!

Product: Merkur Futur 761 Adjustable Safety Razor with Chrome Finish
Review: Since moving to DE shaving i've always fancied a Merkur, so took the plunge and bought the Futur.
The first thing that struck me was the weight, feels solid without being unwieldly, feels like a quality product.
I was a bit worried about the chrome finish being slippy, but quickly found out that this wasn't the case. The Merkur Futur fits nicely into the hand and doesn't move.
When shaving the weight of this razor does most of the work, all you need to do is to keep it on track, combined with Feather Blades this has given me the cleanest shave for a long time. I thought my Edwin Jagger gave a smooth shave, but the Merkur Futur is a whole new level.
Review: Horses for courses. Whenever I tried a Feather in my EJ 89 DL I used to cut myself quite badly and so they sat unused for a while. Got myself a Lord L6 this summer (I'm hoping to do a video review of this great little razor soon) and decided to try a Feather - a truly excellent shave, three passes, not a drop of blood. They blades still have, in my experience, a limited life; four shaves max. I guess they lose their edge quickly because they are so sharp, and in the L6, very smooth indeed.

Product: Muhle Traditional Shaving Mug in Black Porcelain
Review: I bought this mug mainly because of the looks and it does indeed look very smart. Having read that some find it a little small, I was surprised to find it a little bigger than I expected...more the width of a coffee mug than a teacup.Used it for the first time today and it was certainly "fit for purpose". Would buy one again without hesitation.

Product: Israeli Made Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: These blades came free when I ordered my Timor DE razor and Proraso shaving cream, which I bought these about 2 months ago when I decided to give DE shaving a try. I cant see me changing back to multi blades ever again now.
These are the only make of blades that Ive used up until now so I can only compare them to when I previously used multi blades. Without doubt I get a much closer shave and in the 2 months Ive used them Ive never cut myself at all.
I shave every day and these blades last about 5 to 7 days each so value for money wise they are very economical. I will try another make of blade in the near future but for no other reason than curiosity as I have no concerns at all with these blades.

Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Tube (150ml)
Review: I converted to DE shaving about 2 months ago and this is the shaving cream that I bought along with a Timor razor and Israeli blades. I shave every day and still have more than half of this tube left, you only need to use about the size of a pea for each shave; amazing value for money.
Without doubt I now get the best and closest shaves that Ive ever had. I might be tempting fate here but Ive never cut myself once since I changed to DE shaving.

Review: Finally took the plunge and brought a De razor. Got a little bit confused with all the different razors available, but read the reviews of the 33c and thought I would give it go. Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Brushless Shaving Solution (100ml)
Review: The main emphasis of this brushless Shaving Solution is on super slick glide combined with just enough cushion created by the inbuilt gelling agent. This is in contrast to building up a lather with a traditional style shaving cream which typically takes more time and requires a brush for the best results. This would make an excellent addition to your washbag whilst on your travels or if you are a Mach3/Fusion/Double Edge razor user who wants the best results without the use of a brush.
