Handmade in England and densely filled with Best Badger Hair, the Simpsons Commodore line offers an entry-level brush with a solid backbone for working perfectly with soaps and cream.  Established in 1919 Simpson & Co continue to make the world's finest hand made shaving brushes using techniques that have not changed since the firm was founded. Each handle is turned on a lathe, polished and then filled by hand with a "knot" of fine quality selected Chinese badger hair. The hair for each knot is sorted, weighted and tied by a skilled craftsman who then carefully cements the knot into the handle. The handle is then etched with the name of the brush. After a week of using the brush I realise I should have made the jump long ago. The brush creates a great lather in the bowl with minimum effort and is neither too rough or too flimsy on my face. Having read some other reviews made by others I was expecting the brush to arrive with a pungent "wild" odor. However I am happy to report that whilst there was a mild odor to the brush it was far less than I expected and had disappeared after two uses. I would also like to make a notable mention about the exceptional customer service I received from the Shaving Shack who were great. A great product from a great company.
