Review: I own the Pure Badger version of this brush, which is an excellent tool. The shape and uniqueness of each piece is something to be admired. However, this is the next step up in luxury as it feels exceptionally soft and luxuriant due to the qualities of the Super badger hair.

Review: An excellent cream that produces a thick creamy lather with a really fresh scent. If you feel it's too thick, add more water - just like with any cream, each one is different. I heard some people compare this to the Body Shop shaving cream but they are very different in scent - this one almost smells like fresh cucumber to me - it's really nice, and much easier on my skin than the sandalwood version (which although I love the scent and lather, smells a little more artificial due to the added perfume). For people with sensitive skin, this is really better than most of the perfumed creams from Taylor and it lasts forever, making it a really good buy!

Product: Merkur 39C Slant Bar DE Long Handled Safety Razor
Review: I have left it half a dozen shaves before adding this review. I bought this as it is recommended not just for thick growth (which mine is not particularly) but also for sensitive skin. What a lovely shave / great razor!! It actually looks daunting and as if it would take the side of your head off but, with the usual care and attention, it doesn't.
I have moved to this from the 34c and would give this the edge. Although I have small hands, I find the longer handle and extra weight are just right and are easier to use than the 34c. The only complaint was a few nicks with the last shave but that was down to me trying to get an extra shave from the blade rather than the fault of the razor. I find Derby blades are great with this razor. Haven't tried a feather yet!!.
Highly recommended and excellent quality.
Enjoy!!

Review: I have just had a truly rewarding shave with this wonderful shaving cream. You just need an almond size amount with this stuff and your shaving brush will explode with copious amounts of fluffy white lather. The lather produced was very slick making my DE razor glide effortlessly. The scent of this cream is great and it should be, as real sandal wood oil is part of its ingredients. Also the scent lingers for quite a while, much to my girlfriend's delight who described it as "very sexy". I wonder if I can get hold of some aftershave to accompany this shaving cream?

Review: Coming from synthetic 'goo' out of a can, I was quite shocked at how luxurious this product was. The lather, when done properly, is thick, warm and wet - perfect for a close shave and a million miles from the dry foam I've been using for years. The scent is subtle and pleasing and wears off quickly after your shave, to give your aftershave a chance to take over. Taylor are one of the big "Three T's" and are highly rated for good reason, their avocado cream being one of their most famous products.

Product: Merkur 37C Slant Bar DE Safety Razor
Review: These Slant Bars have a bit of a reputation for being not for the faint hearted. I took the plunge as I wanted a razor that could cope with my very dense and course beard with as few passes as possible as Ive got girly sensitive skin! This razor certainly has a bit of blade exposure and its definitely more angle critical than my 38C Barbers Pole but the upside is that it delivers a seriously close shave. Its nicely balanced and once youve got the hang of it, doesnt feel quite as scary as you may have been led to believe. If youve got your DE shaving technique sorted, youll have nothing to fear from this razor and if my experience is anything to go by will give excellent results.
Review: I am really, really impressed with this shaving cream. I've tried various others and this by far has the most potent and refreshing smell. The lather from it is also superb, mixed in a bowl with a badger brush I got the thickest smoothest cream to date. I've rated this 5 stars, excellent and genuinely recommend it.

Review: I was originally shopping around online for a new electric shaver, when I came across The Shaving Shack. After reading the reviews and talkng to Dan, I bought a 34C. It's a functional, beautifully crafted, compact but hefty instrument. I had to re-learn the shaving techniques I last used over 30 years ago, but it's well worth it - you cannot get this quality of shave with an electric or multiblade cartridge razor. It does take longer, but it's not an unpleasant task any more! Great service from Dan too.

The Parker has a good medium heft to it and is well made with a nice rich nickel finish. Not in Merkur territory, but it is a lot cheaper. The butterfly design makes blade changing easy. The shave is good and close - not too aggressive - and easy to control. The Israeli blades go well with it. A very good value everyday razor in my opinion.

Review: Well some have tried it earlier in life so at 48 I thought - Ok, I will give a DE razor a go but it surely cannot be any better than three blades on a Mach 3 etc. How wrong could I be? I chose the 34c having read several reviews of this and others. Seemed liked a good, reliable and sturdy first choice for a DE razor. REALLY close shave with the Merkur blades supplied. N/S pass followed by a bit of a mix and match with direction has given SUCH an excellent shave , best ever!!! The only negative I can think of is _ maybe the longer handled version would be better for me but, hey ho, will only add one of those to this one, not replace it.
Well done Shavingshack!!!! great service, fast efficient delivery and - Good price too!!
Review: A feather blade and my Mercur Futur I got my best shave ever. One pass with the grain, one pass across the grain and one pass against - WOW! My skin was so smooth, the shave has lasted 4 days so far, I'll be having another go tonight. There was no slight pulling when shaving against the grain that I'd experienced previously. Recommended, but very, very sharp - be careful.
Review: I bought this soap primarily out of curiosity but also because of its claims of skin softening due to the high lanolin content. This soap is without doubt the best soap I have ever used. For a start, the 'puck' that you get is HUGE. I can see this lasting for AGES if used daily, and if used only on a weekly basis...who knows? A year? two years?? The lather produced with my Kent AP12 brush is INCREDIBLE - as thick as the topping on a trifle (yes, really) and SO MOISTURISING. I usually have to use a post shave moisturising lotion with my other soaps ....but after a shave with this, your skin feels incredibly nourished and smooth and calmed. No moisturiser needed at all! Fragrance wise, this has a pleasant, clean old fashioned soapy scent to it (due to it being soap I guess) A nice change to my 'LOccitane Cade soap. In short, this is one classy soap that will please even the most demanding wet shave enthusiast, and has arguably the best lathering and skin softening abilities around. I would definitely pay double if not triple the price for such a good soap.

Review: Already a confirmed DE razor user, I wanted to see if a Merkur would do the business, so armed with a 570 I gave it a go. I liked the weight and although initially sceptical about the ability to adjust the razor, after some experimentation I did find a setting that was more effective (2.5) although apparently due to manufacturing tolerances these settings are not absolute
To summarise, I liked it. I think to get the best out of your razor and this applies to any, you need to try different shaving soaps and creams and different settings until you find the combination that suits you best.

It was a particularly close shave, and nowhere near as difficult as I was led to believe. The razor itself is a lovely piece of equipment, and looks good in your bathroom. It seems bullet proof, and is a joy to use. The shorter handle ensures tricky spots (like under your nose) are still simple to shave, with no nicks.

Review: This is a really great soap. Initially, I was frustrated, because I could not get any real lather from it, but since, I have found out that there is really no need for real lather here. The soap is olive oil based, and as such, it will great a clear layer, with which you shave. It works very well, and does look a little strange in the mirror - shaving without lather. It also makes you face feel great, and moisturises extremely well. Since using it, I have enjoyed super-close shaves, that even some of the expensive brands have struggled to match. Review: Now this is a quality product. When I first decided to experiment with DE shaving, I trawled a lot of websites for advice, and two razors seemed to come up most often as 'ideal for beginners': vintage Gillette Fatboy, and the Merkur Progress. The Fatboy is still on its way from eBay USA; the Progress arrived from Shaving Shack four days ago. Three shaves later, and I'm loving it. My chin is smoother than I've ever managed with a cartridge razor. First time out, I cut myself... second shave, a little razor burn, third shave a little less razor burn. A much quicker progression rate so far than I'd have expected, so don't be afraid to take the plunge with this unit. NB: if, like me, you're a headshaver you might want to stick with the cartridge over the bonce for a while yet - I got a bit overconfident and tried it yesterday and am currently sporting a nasty gouge. Maybe in time I'll try that again, but be warned it is much, much harder to maintain the correct angle on your skull than your chin.
Everything about the Progress screams quality. Nicely packaged (my box, now living in a drawer, arrived broken - post's fault, not Shaving Shack's. It's not the sort of box you'd want to take travelling anyhow, really - and my razor lives on a shelf, so...). A very hefty, solid feeling unit with a much greater sense of quality to it than any cartridge razor (or for that matter electric razor) I've encountered. I feel like I'm using a manly tool when I shave with this!

Product: Pure Bristle Travel Shaving Brush
Review: I recently decided to move away from the 'ordinary' foam / gell in a can approach to shaving, and purchased one of these brushes from the Shaving Shack. I opted for a travel brush as it is still realtively cheap, and meant that if I did enjoy using a brush I would be able to 'trade up' for the home shave, and still have this one for taking travelling. Waste not, want not and all that!
I have used both a solid shaving soap and the cream that comes with this brush, shaving with my Gillette Fusion (hoping to make the switch to a DE Safety Razor shortly). The shave I have been getting is an instant improvement over the goop in a can. The brush works especially well with a solid soap, and I am greatly enjoying the ritual of whipping up a lather and painting it onto my face. Shaving has become something more of a pleasure as a result. The brush works equally well with the cream and I will continue to use the tube I have, though I have discovered that my personal preference is definitely a solid soap.
I am now ready to 'trade up' to a higher quality brush, maybe a badger bristle, but this brush will definitely not be abandoned. I very much intend to keep using it when I'm on the move.
The sole improvement that I think could be made to this brush would be if the storage tube could somehow double as a drip stand. I'm not sure exactly how this could be done - maybe a slightly longer tube with the stand being a circular affair than sits inside it? That would make it the ultimate travelling brush companion, in my book.
Overall, a great product, and one well worth considering for the traveller who needs to minimise luggage but doesn't want to go back to goop in a can. Actually, this brush plus a solid soap would take up much less room on the move, and would also have the bonus that there's no danger of goop exploding in your suitcase! :-)
Review: I received a tube of this cream as a free gift from Shaving Shack, after buying a shaving brush on eBay. This was my first experience of shaving with something other than the goop in a can, supermarket stuff. I did find it a little on the runny side to begin with, though I suspect this is because I used more than is advised. The shave was excellent: I'm still to make the jump to a DE Safety razor, so I was using my current Gillette Fusion. The shave was definitely closer than I normally get with 'oridnary' foam / gell. Very pleasing. I like the aroma - something almost clinical about it. I don't use aftershave, in large part because I've never found one I like the smell of. This cream leaves a pleasant, subtle aroma, clean and fresh.
More recently, I have also been trying out a solid shaving soap. I have actually come to prefer this over cream, though this is more to do with enjoying the ritual of creating a good, thick lather then painting it on than any qualitative issue. I would certainly be open to using this cream again - on balance, I think it's slightly faster than the soap too, if time is of the essence in your morning routine.

Review: Haven't switched to DE razor yet but use this in combination with mach3, brush and cream after a two year shaving sabbatical of a full beard. Works really well to stop any nicks bleeding or redness I used to get from hair growing in odd directions. My wife has kindly translated the instructions from the box as they are in French and she is French " Wet the Alum block and wipe slowly over the face after a wet shave or a little time before an electric shave". Hope this helps.
Review: Got this cream free with my order and have tried it compared to the Taylors' Sandalwood cream. Like has been said previously it is very thin but works really well with a brush and lathered up well. It left my skin feeling good and moisturised. It has a smell of "fragrance free" products a bit like Glenn said in his review. It is a different experience to the much thicker Taylors cream but I would definitely recomend it.

Review: Bought one of these in place of a styptic pencil. At first, I just used it for nicks etc. However, over time I've come to realise that the antiseptic/cooling qualities far outweigh such limited use. These things are wonderful, such an addition to the act. One thing that isn't mentioned in the product description is that the block is composed of Potassium Alum, not Ammonia Alum, ie it's far less agressive. I find that a cold water wash/rince, wet the block, gently rub block over entire shaved area, allow to dry, dab (not rub) with cold rinsed flannel, pays dividends. Always use before after shave of any kind. So much more than the salts on a stick of the Styptic. Looks like it may well last forever too. Well worth it.

Product: Shaving Shack Hand Made Natural Shaving Soap (110g)
Review: OK, I've spent the last two weeks with this soap whilst also having the Taylor Lavender soap in my bathroom to make comparisons with. Although I love the Taylor's lavender fragrance, this particular scent wins for me as it is stronger and the eucalyptus makes it more interesting for my olfactory senses. I find it very quick to lather and the lather is as good, if not better than the Taylor soap. I wasn't expecting it to be in the same league so was delighted but not surprised as this soap has been hand made specifically for shaving purposes. However, "Shaving Soap" may be a bit of a misnomer as the real bonus is that my other half loves it too, and it's very handy being able to share one bar of soap!

Product: Luxury Onyx Pure Badger Shaving Brush
Review: I am the proud owner of one of these superb brushes and its polished finish looks fantastic next to my trusty Merkur Progress! It's a substantial brush that feels solid and there's something elemental about lathering with a brush hewn from stone. An excellent companion to the steel of a heavy duty razor...beats plastic anyday!

Product: Merkur Futur 760 Safety Razor with Satin Chrome Finish
Review: This is my first safety razor and I'm hooked to say the least. Gone are my days of buying ridiculously expensive cartridge razors and hacking away at my face. It does take a little patience to get used to the transition to a double edged razor (Ensuring the angle and pressure are correct) but Combine the Futur with a luxurious soap and half decent brush and you won't regret it! Oh, as a side note, take things slowly, let the weight of the razor cut and above all enjoy!

Product: 10 Israeli Made Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: Got 30 of these as a free gift having bought a merkur futur. I alternated between these and the 10 merkur blades. You can notice a difference between them but in terms or quality they more than do the job and last equally as long. They are sharp and crisp in the razor really do offer value for the money. At the price and the time each lasts 30 is going to last me nearly 6 months.

Product: Taylor Of Old Bond St Sandalwood Soap and Bowl
Review: Thoroughly recommend this soap. Smooth, rich lather, smells great (as my son commented today, it really smells like soap). When I get a refill for the very attractive bowl, I'm going to try the lavender, though, judging by the economy of use so far, this could be in some time.

Product: Merkur 23C Long Handled Classic
Review: So, I've worn a full beard for over two decades but I've been to India for a couple of years where you don't wear a full beard because it's not comfortable in the summer heat there.
In India you can get a shave in a good barber shop for about 20p, but in the UK it's about 15!
On returning home I'd brought proper soap and a brush with me, but the only razors I could get in India were either the single edged 'cut-throat' things that take half a razor blade or a ghastly plastic safety razor that wasn't any good at all and threatened to fall to bits at every shave.
My old Gillette (a present in 1966 when I was 13) had long since disapeared and so it was time to either go for something complicated and modern or get a decent safety razor.
I bought the Merkur because I liked the look of the long handle.
It gives an excellent shave, is easy to control and feel good in the hand. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Product: 30 Derby Extra Double Edged Razor blades
Review: I have tried 3 sets of blades in my time using a safety razor; Israeli blades, some Merkur blades that came with my 38c and the derby blades.
I find these blades to be my favorite of the three. The Israeli blades are good but I find these ones give me practically zero irritation while I still get a little with the Israeli blades. Great value for money and highly recommended!

Product: Merkur 38C
Review: I was recommended to try a shaving brush, shaving soap and a Merkur safety razor to ease the discomfort of shaving and I must say it is fantastic and surprisingly a lot easier than I thought. It does take a few shaves to get used to but overall my skin is fairing much better compared to the mach 3 style razors that irritated my skin to a severe degree. This product may seem to be on the expensive side for a razor but you must remember how much you will be saving through cheaper blades and the fact that this tool will last several lifetimes!

Product: Pure Badger Shaving Brush
Review: Being new to using a brush and soap for shaving, I was pleasantly surprised to find just how much of a difference it made to the canned variety. I have previously tried on two occasions to use a pure bristle brush which was not to my liking.
Using a badger hair brush with any type of razor this will greatly improve your shaving experience.

Product: Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic
Review: This has got to be one of the most effective DE razor available for the price.
Its solidly built (German of course) easy to handle and gives the closest shave I have ever had. Once you get one of these you know you will never need another razor again, these are built to last a lifetime and no doubt longer.
This is the third razor I have bought from shave shack I also have a Vision and merkur 570 every one is top class
Do I need three razors, not realy but when I can get all three for less than a cheap set of hair straightners that the wife buys once a year, and know these will see me through a lifetime of top shaves then yes I can have all three.
One thing I can say for certain Once you learn how to wet shave, it could take a week or two, you will be converted for life.
