Author: Gary Bromelow Being new to the delights of double edge shaving again after a foray into it in the 80's I thought I had better get all the kit to ensure a proper job. Twenty odd years of use of cans of gloop had left me something of a novice at getting a good lather going before the shaving had even commenced. Its only taken a week or so to get the hang though now of using a good cream, bowl and badger brush to really feel the difference. The bowl felt too small for the task in hand at first and wet bubbles regularly slopped over the side, less though of course being more meant that less pressure on the brush, less water in the brush and a little more cream with the brush kept low in the bowl as opposed to trying to whisk eggs meant a really smooth, creamy and most importantly drag reducing lather. The bowl really does pass muster in the "looking cool and all grown up" stakes on the bathroom shelf as well.
Author: Atir Akram After my very old shaving mug broke I decided to look into purchasing a new bowl. The Muhle-Pinsel Nickel Shaving bowl looked ideal and after I got it I have to say it is great looking and produces a fine lather. The bowl is not too large that it crowds out valuable counter space. It is well constructed so it is not likely to break and I hope to use it for another 10 years or so!
Author: Michael Burgess I ordered this to keep in my travel wash bag and the first thing I noticed was the size; certainly smaller than I anticipated it to be - ideal for travel as well as at home. Nevertheless, it feels nice in the hand and allows me to make enough lather for 2 passes (I'm using with Proraso regular shaving cream). Feels like it should last a long time, so a worthwhile addition to your shaving apparatus.
Author: James Riley ([email protected]) First time i have used a shaving bowl. Looks good, but to be honest I am not keen on this one. It is far too small to build up a good lather. Could do with being twice as big. I have just used up the last of my truefit and hill soap that comes in a wooden bowl. Will be using this as a shaving bowl from now on as it is quite a bit bigger. Perhaps with practice it will do the job nicely.
Author: Adam Cockerill too small to be used properly as a lather bowl in my opinion. I did manage to cram a soap puck in mine though. Is heavier than you would expect for its small size so if you did want to struggle using it as a lather bowl it sits in the hand well enough.
