Feather All Stainless AS-D1

Leading US wet shaving expert Mike Sandoval descried the new Feather All Stainless safety razor as “probably the most beautifully crafted razor” he has ever seen.

He said: “These are among the highest quality and quite possibly the sharpest instruments that any shaver will ever encounter. Feather’s newest razor breaks the mold of traditional double edge safety razors and raises the bar for design, cutting angle, packaging, and — of course — price.”

Mike, who runs leading shaving blog Shaving101.com, concluded: “This razor along with the PILS are connoisseur razors for someone who wants the best of the best in his collection. These new razors take the good ol’ utilitarian safety razor and make it a luxury item — with a price tag to match. The fact that Feather produced a razor with this quality is a strong indicator that the popularity of double edge shaving has been noticed as worthy of an investment.”

The Shaving Shack is delighted to announce that we are now stocking the Goodfella safety razors.

Available in either chrome or satin black, these double edge safety razors have been designed for the stylish shaver.

The Goodfella Safety Razor is a product of today's technology

The Goodfella Safety Razor is a product of today’s technology. Through computer aided design and selecting modern durable materials the manufacturer has rejuvenated the old school, classic shaving razor,” said a spokesperson for the firm.

“The Goodfella Safety Razor is perfectly balanced allowing the weight of the razor to deliver the blade at the optimum cutting angle resulting in a smooth and close, yet mild shave.”

Luxury Magazine loved the razors

Weighing 57g each, and made in New Zealand, these razors are hand finished. Each head is checked three times during production ensuring strict quality control.

The razors have also been a hit with the media, with The Australian Telegraph saying: “The classy, Sean Connery-Bond style of the Goodfella Safety Razor makes it look straight off the silver screen”.

Luxury Magazine added: “This razor makes shaving fun again”, while Tone Magazine said it “prefers the feel of blade on bristle than the lawnmower-like grind of an electric shaver”.

The Goodfella Satin Black Safety Razor

Hans Henrik Appel, from leading shaving blog The Shaving Detective, was also full of praise for the Goodfella safety razors.

He wrote: “The Goodfella is a classic chrome Double Edge razor in a clean, almost clinical, design. At first, it struck me as a very small razor, but it actually handles extremely well and is perfectly balanced. The Goodfella was my first attempt at a DE razor, and I must say that it impressed me with its great looks and the gentle shave it provides.

“At first, I thought that the short and slick handle would be slippery and hard to hold once it got wet. It turned out to fit perfectly in my hand - and never slipped a bit! The centre of balance was perfect for me, but I will not guarantee that it will fit anyone just as good.

“Like it goes for any other razor, it really is a matter of preference. The Goodfella is not an aggressive razor - in fact, you have to try quite hard to cut yourself with the open comb design.”

The Goodfella safety razors are priced at £59.99 on the Shaving Shack website.

We are pleased to announce that we are now stocking Coate’s Special Edition Tea Tree and Rosemary Shaving Cream (165ml Tub).

The Gentleman’s Shop confirmed they had purchased the Coate’s company in May of this year.

Pure luxury in a jar!

The first product in the new Coate’s range is this glycerine and coconut oil based shaving cream also contains tea tree and rosemary essential oils.

”This pot should provide around 100 shaves, as it only needs to be used sparingly with a shaving brush, to produce copious lather,” Coate’s said on their website.

Not only is it Paraben free but it also has no artificial colourants or fragrance.

Tea tree oil has been used for many years in both traditional and alternative medicine, due to its natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and as it is now widely used in skincare products, it see med a natural progression to include tea tree oil in our new shaving products.

Tea Tree oil is capable of penetrating the lower layers of the skin with its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing qualities, to encourage the formation of new tissue, following the shave.

“This high quality shaving cream will ensure a smooth shave, as the natural essential oil will help calm the newly shaved skin and is also the ideal solution to reduce any post-shave redness,” Coate’s said.

Coate’s Special Edition Tea Tree and Rosemary Shaving Cream (165ml Tub) is priced at £12.99 on The Shaving Shack website.

Introducing The Bluebeards Revenge™ – A premium shaving cream that combats tough stubble

The Shaving Shack is delighted to announce that we are now stocking The Bluebeards Revenge™, a luxurious shaving cream designed for Real Men.

Designed by a real life Blue Beard who was bored to death with being a Desperate Dan look-alike, The Bluebeard’s Revenge™ is a paraben free, premium quality shaving cream with added ingredients to specifically combat tough stubble.

The Bluebeards Revenge (TM) is paraben free

“It has been formulated to our unique specification in one of the UK’s premier male cosmetics laboratories who are renowned experts in the field of shaving cream,” said a spokesperson for The Bluebeards Revenge™.

The shaving cream contains Decelerine™ - which in turn is made up of a mixture of active ingredients that delay hair growth, reducing the frequency of shaving and depilation and at the same time providing a recovering effect on the skin.

How Decelerine™ works

The normal hair cycle is divided into four periods:
1. ANAGEN – Active Growth Phase (2-6 years)
2. CATAGEN – A short transition period with regression (2-3 weeks)
3. TELOGEN – A resting phase (2-3 weeks)
4. EXOGEN – A shedding stage

Then the new hair starts to grow and the follicle is back in Anagen. The length of hair is primarily a function of the relative durations of Anagen and Telogen. Whether hairs are in one of these phases at the time of hair removal is important because only Anagen hairs are particularly sensitive to the effects of Decelerine™. Decelerine™ targets its action in hair follicle cells and weakens new hair formation.

The cream has been designed for Real Men with Real Stubble

It has proved to be effective in inhibiting hair growth, decreasing length and density of unwanted hair and also providing a soothing, moisturising and anti-inflammatory effect.

In tests Decelerine™ showed a 30% decrease in hair length as well as a 16% reduction in hair density after 60 days.

As well as slowing down beard regrowth, Decelerine™ relieves and soothes the effects of shaving (especially skin prone to irritation and dryness) by providing moisturisation and protection to facilitate its regeneration.

But according to the packet, if you are a fully paid up member of the bum fluff brigade then the cream is not for you!!!

What does it smell like?
The Bluebeards Revenge™ has a signature scent that was chosen by shaving enthusiasts. It is based on a fresh and classic English barbershop scent with a modern twist. We’re hoping to give it a name soon!

How long will it last?
Based on average use a tub of The Bluebeards Revenge™ typically lasts 3-5 months.

Supporting real heroes
The Bluebeards Revenge™ is a shaving cream for real every day heroes. 50p from every pot we sell goes towards Operation Florian and The Fire Fighters Charity - it’s our way of rewarding the real men (and Women!) who perform heroic acts on a daily basis.

The luxurious Kent BK4 Silver Tip Badger Shaving Brush has been given a glowing review by a leading American wet shaving expert.

Mike Sandoval, from leading wet shaving website Shaving101.com, was full of praise for the premium shaving brush, describing it as “outstanding”.

Kent BK4 was described as outstanding

He started off his review by saying: “I was amazed at the beauty of the badger hair upon opening the red presentation box. The silvertip badger hair is simply gorgeous.

“Expecting this brush to be a ‘nice’ brush, I was very surprised when it revealed itself to be outstanding!

“The BK4 is one of the most versatile shaving brushes I have ever used with both hard soaps and shaving creams. The BK4 quickly produces a rich volume of lather easily suitable for a three-pass shave.”

Mike, who has been reviewing wet shaving products for more then 10 years, continued: “Those who want a brush that will work well with any soap or cream, and always be soft and comfortable on the face will love this brush.

“Those with sensitive skin that have problems with the stiffer bristles of many other high-end brushes would also greatly benefit it as well.”

He concluded by describing the Kent BK4 as an “outstanding example of a good-value shaving brush”, adding “the comfortable feel of the handle, gorgeous and soft high-quality badger hair, and classy red presentation case all represent what a fine British shaving brush should be”.

The Merkur 33C Classic - A lighter variation on the legendary Merkur 34C

April 19, 2010 · Posted in Product News · Comment

It is hard to argue with the older generation when they vehemently claim that the classics are still the best. They may generally be talking about old movies or TV shows, but the old adage also still rings true when it comes to a choice of razor. It is not just war veterans and old folks that prefer a razor that is designed for real men, one that gives you the closer shave most modern razors just cannot match.

Merkur 33C Classic

Just take the Merkur 33C Classic, for instance. This chrome-plated razor is the lighter weight version of the legendary Merkur 34C Heavy Duty. It utilises the same head but with a slighty narrower and consequently less weighty handle. As always, the same fantastic Merkur build quality has been applied to the 33C making it a top alternative to its heavy-duty sibling.

With Merkur you know you are purchasing a well-crafted razor, built on a tried and trusted design. This quality razor model is great for those starting out shaving and proper men looking for a heavy duty razor that is easier to handle when improving your technique, for a closer and smoother shave.

The Merkur 33C Classic is priced at just £19.99 at the Shaving Shack, while the Merkur 34C Heavy Duty is a little bit more expensive at £26.99.
