Review: I have just started using a traditional Parker safety razor after many years using expensive, throw aways. When I purchased the razor I opted for these Wilkinson Sword blades as I was familiar with the company and I have to say I was very impressed. The dispenser worked well and the blades where all perfectly sharp giving me the closest shave I have ever experienced! I have now turned shaving into a ritual rather than a chore and would highly recommend these blades.

Review: Since I am new a this I am not as experienced as others but I just have to share.
After using a cheap "no name" de razor for a very short while I decided to go all the way and buy a real one...
After browing the internet for a couple of weeks (yes I am one of those people that have to compare everyting to be sure), I based my decision on pure vanity and gut feeling.
I just couldn´t resist that skull. It is just so cool, no I am not 9yrs old, you have to add another 30yrs to that.
Now I have used it for a while and I cannot belive why nobody told me about this before. For 25 years I have hated to shave.
Now I love it, the close shaves and the fact that I don´t have to worry about irritated skin anymore.
Try this one, you will love it, I use it with Bluebeards Revenge´s shave cream and post shave balm and the result is amazing.

Product: Proraso Ultra-Sensitive Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: Great product. My skin is very sensitive to any scented treatments - even so clled sensitive ones but I have absolutely no problem with this. It lathers up well, is easy to wash off and so light it doesn't stick all round the basin - which earns me brownie points. Thoroughly recommend it.
Review: For a freebie they are fine, but I wouldn't buy them when Derby and feather are so much better. I found they lost the edge quite quickly and were prone to rusting unless dried after every use - which is a nuisance. Not bad, but Shaving Shack offers better options in my view.
Review: Having already bought and been very happy with the Merkur Futur, I thought I'd try this one. Using the same blades (new as well) it made for an interesting comparison. The Futur is far more comfortable! I might travel with this one, not sure, however I won't be using it for a daily shave. Where the Futur is smoother than smooth, this is quite draggy for some reason. It's undoubtedly a well made thing, but doesn't seem to work as well for me.

Review: It’s hard to describe the scent of this Erasmic cream, which is nothing like the Erasmic soap. It’s not a scent I immediately liked when opening the tube, although it wasn’t in anyway offensive. Upon lathering it up for the first time, however, I found it produced a good lather which provided a comfortable shave. On using it for a second time, I decided that the scent wasn’t as bad as I had first thought and on repeated use I have actually come to enjoy the scent. This really is a cream which performs above its low price tag and, unlike the soap, it’s an Erasmic product that I will definitely buy again.

Review: I struggle to find fault with Tabac. Before buying it for the first time I read numerous reviews which seemed to suggest that its scent divided opinion, though all seemed to agree that it produced a great lather. I was therefore pleasantly surprised on opening it to find a scent that I immediately loved. If I had to define my idea of an old-school scent this Tabac spiciness would be it. The lather is always great. In fact, I find it’s near impossible to get a poor lather from Tabac, and a little really does go a long way which, considering the low price and the countless shaves a 100g will give, makes this a great buy. Everything about Tabac – the scent, the lather, the price – guarantee it a constant place in my rotation.

Review: Although it's about 2 quid dearer than a brush avaliable in a certain high street chemist, you'll find it saves you money in the long-term, i.e. far superior build quality. It won't have lost 1/8th of the bristles 3 months down the line and split halfway along one side. . . Plus it feels nice in your hand, and with a suitable stand it is far more pleasing to the eye than a little lump of anonymous plastic.
Review: I decided to switch to shaving with a DE razor when my wife bought me the Vulfix Scilian Lime shave cream from Shave Shack this Christmas. I started with the Wilkinson Sword Classic and whilst that (after the traditional novice nicks and scrapes) was an improvement on any cartridge razor I soon decided to upgrade. Intensive research eventually gave me a short list from which I chose the Muhle R89. The quality is outstanding and it feels like a much more expensive piece of kit. The plating is flawless and the design attractive. The razor, even in my inexperienced hands, feels nicely balanced and has given me a smoother and more comfortable shave than I thought possible.

I rate these much higher than Derbys, but of course everyone has different tastes so best to buy a sampler before making bigger orders.

Review: I have waited for some time before I submitted this review. Being relatively new to DE shaving I wanted to ensure that I began my journey with the razor I was going to have a lasting relationship with. Shaving is such a personal activity, you want to mak sure you've got the right girl by your skin! This razor is an absolute babe! She glides (once you have found the angle approx 45 deg) cross ways, up and down. The weight is just perfect and she balances in your hand like a dream. Its a real delight waking up and knowing that I am going to have a great start to my day! Combined with Feather razors and excellent combination I think for pros and beginners (worth the investment!)
Review: This is a very well constructed razor, certainly the best quality I have come across. It is much less aggressive than a Merkur HD for example so I find that two passes are needed. The bonus however if the complete lack of irritation. It's so smooth that shaving rash is now a thing of the past. Highly recommended!

Product: Parker Model 22 "Interceptor" Metal Safety Razor with Gunmetal Finish
Review: The Parker 'Interceptor' was my first venture into the DE shaving world. I've been using it for the last year but now feel it's worth reviewing with a little experience behind me ..
At first sight the razor looks fantastic in the gun metal finish, the weight of the razor is great and the groove in the handle makes holding the razor while shaving easier.
My only issue I had with this razor initially, which is more down to my inexperience at first is that I found I some how used to unscrew the butterfly a little which was quite annoying/dangerous. For this reason alone I would recommend anyone new to DE shaving to simply ask questions and watch videos - do not jump into the deep end as there are many wise heads out there to help save you cutting yourself.
Overall I would recommend this razor.

Product: Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic
Review: Thinking about DE Razors? I had a Wilkinson Sword something or other 3, and before that a Gillette Mach 3. To be fair it was the Wilkinson Sword that really pushed me to look for something better.
I bought a cheap £3 DE handle and a pack of blades from Boots just to give it a try. Even that was immediately better!
Then I ordered this razor, from here, with the Bluebeard pre shave oil, luxury shave soap, and the post shave balm.
Wow. What a diffence. Want to know exactly whatbthat difference is? Simple really. First shave with your Mach 3, both with and against the stubble. Then rince the sink out completely.
Now shave with a DE razor.
Everything that is left in the sink is what your Mach3 couldn't shave. You'll be very surprised indeed.
You won't need to look in the sink to be impressed though, you'll run your hand across your face and you'll feel the difference.
It's not just a shave either - you feel completely 100% better on a morning after this type of shave. I can't explain that.
You do have to be careful though, and you need to look at some of the advice on technique, and you may cut yourself a few times as you learn - but my goodness, there is no looking back.

Product: Feather Professional Artist Club DX Stainless Steel Straight Razor
Review: After recently having to replace my previous Feather artist club and dealing with Dan at the Shaving Shack, the item was delivered quickly with excellent customer service. The razor itself is beautifully engineered and the materials used are of an exceptional quality. The blades are easy to load but beware as feather blades are formidable and ridiculously sharp, I would recommend anyone new to feather artist razors should try the pro-guard blades before using the regular professional blades. The razor itself holds quite a weight but is by no means cumbersome. I thoroughly recommend this razor; ok so you do pay a premium for the razor but it will be with you for life because of exceptional quality of the materials used and the fantastic engineering put into the design of this razor. All in all 10/10 and worth the money.
Review: Although I am only a few months classic shaver, I have tested some soaps and creams like TOBS Avocado, Truefitt&Hill 1805, Mitchells, Valobra and so.
Last week I received a refill of Tabac (I don't have the plastic case, but I prefer to save some pounds) because of the good reviews about it.
And, indeed, it's true. My way of making lather is: rub the brush with the soap for a while, and after this rub on the face. The brush will make a dense, superb lather that will give you a close and perfect shave (imho).
And, in winter and cold days, I prefer this kind of soaps that those with menthol, eucalyptus and similar.
Try it, you will no regret.

Product: Merkur 25C Long Handled Classic (Open Comb)
Review: Although similar to the Merkur 23c/180 the 25c has several key differences and is (in my opinion) a better razor.
The 25c is a long handle but slightly shorter than the 23c, although not enough to make any significant difference. It's also a little bit lighter than the 23c as the 'backing plate' is slimmer. Don't get me wrong though, the Merkur quality and the robust design is still there.
However, it is a much better shave than the 23c due to the open comb design and the angle the blade sits.
To explain further, with the 23c you really had to scrape it along your face at a certain angle yet with the 25c it effortlessly glides across, which is strange sensation at first if you've been used to 23c.
Overall it's a damn nice razor, and although I've only ever had 2 Merkurs (including this) I doubt I'll look for another and will probably buy an extra 25c as a back up.

Review: Earlier I tried the Proraso after shave and claimed it was the best thing I've put on my face after shaving. So I decided to give this cream a shot too. And this exceeded all my expectations! This is the first cream that has felt smooth and 100% irritation free during and after the shave. Even when going ATG I felt zero pulling, this cream makes your razor truly glide. I've enjoyed other creams too but they all seem to leave my skin a tiny bit irritated and the beard growth feels very hard and sharp. With this cream those problems were gone. The lather it produces is awesome too. I feel it took a bit more effort to get it down compared to T&H/TOBS/Bluebeard, but in the end it was a perfect lather. The scent is very strong, cooling and refreshing, just like the feel on your beard. Personally I enjoyed this very much and was surprised that it really felt so smooth and soothing while at the same time being fresh and strong. Highly recommended, especially for dry and sensitive skin like mine. 5/5

You get a massive hit of freshness from the Menthol, (but not overpowering), with very little burn. You maintain a fresh feeling for a good couple of hours afterwards. Tones you skin very well. Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Wool Fat Shaving Soap Refill (120g)
Review: This is a great product. If you have sensitive skin, I'd say give it a week for your skin to adjust to the soap. I found it a bit drying to begin with. Some people recommend applying directly to the face. However I think it lathers better if you use a bowl. If you soak the mix bowl and soap bowl in hot water first, it seems to lather better. Also keep the mix quite "wet". Using a bit more water allows the lather to be more gloopy and the razor glides better. One further trick (not for purists): put three to four drops of David Somersets (or your preferred brand) shave oil in the bowl first and then mix with the fat. The result is ultra-sticky and gives a really comfortable result.

Review: Unlike the other reviewer, I believe that this is actually easier to lather than Mitchel's, but while Mitchel's Wool Fat soap smells of just that, soap - no added fragrances to it, this one has that cedar/sandalwood woodsy light scent to it - comparing it to Tabac, I would say the scent is similar but while Tabac is more "floral", this one is more "woodier".
As to the lather, it lathers really easily, and it's really creamy, Comparing it again to Tabac and MWF, I'd say that this one is slightly less slick/cushioning than those two, but it's still very good.

Product: The Bluebeards Revenge Luxury Shaving Cream (180ml)
Review: First I must compliment the smell, it is so nice and soothing! It lathers really well, the best I have tried so far. I think it's abit on the pricey side though, but it definitely is an amazing shaving cream.
Review: This is my 2nd DE razor, my first one being a Parker 22R. I find the quality on this one alot better, the finish is outstanding. The 22R was a little too aggressive, but this one is perfect! It's also very forgiving compared to the 22R, and I think it would be an excellent choice for a beginner. Think I have used the 22R less than a handful times just to compare after I got this one.
This one is now my daily razor, and has been so for months. Couldn't be more happy with it!
Review: I've been using these blades for quite a few years now and I have to say the quality in each pack varies massively.
To explain further, out of every pack 5 pack two or three will be extremely sharp whilst the remaning ones will be substantially duller.
I'd say on average i go through a couple blades every week, bearing in mind I don't use these to shave my entire face (ouch!) but only for 'delicate' work on my sideburns in conjuction with my Wahl trimmer, and sharp blades is a must if you want clean lines.
Overall they're good value for money if bought in bulk and the quality is reasonably good for your buck, and despite the lack of consistency I still buy them when my supplies run low and would recommend them to other people.
Review: First, scent is really amazing, it is like natural lime and lemon. It is a hard cream and I use it as a soap. You have to load your brush, then to put it on your face and to gradually add some water. When hydrating at the right level, the efficaciy and the cushion are fantastic , so excellent. But due to the fact, it is sometime diffcult to find the right balance of water, my rating is very good.
Review: This cream is good. Very nice and natural scent of lavender (my favourite scent). Creates lather in i nick of no time (with a brush of course). Will last a long time as a very small amount of cream is needed. Recommended.

Product: Merkur 33C Classic
Review: Shaving Shack has asolutely appalling service! I paid £37.99 for a Merkur 570 Progess, but recieved this razor the £20.49 Merkur 33C lightweight Classic. And also this is my second order from Shaving Shack and both times they ignored my delivery address and sent my order to a different address – and this despite assurances from the company that the mistake with the first order was a rare one off! Shocking company! Please send what I paid for...and to the correct address. Buyers beware especially if you need a gift at Xmas.
Response from The Shaving Shack: We really are sorry about the mix up with your orders, we do try our best but sometimes make mistakes. I hope you now have your goods.

Product: Astra Platinum Double Edged Razor Blades
Review: I got my first set of these as part of a large sample selection pack of blades a few years back. All the other brands are still in their packets on a shelf because once I tried these I never looked back. Less likely to decapitate you than the feathers and excellent value, especially in the large pack.

Product: Vintage Shaving Mod Shaving Cream (150ml)
Review: Mind blowing! To me at least!
I have sensitive skin and after a shave I would usually apply standard moisturizer. I learned of this produce from some reviews and can definitely testify for it's brilliant results.
First of all the band itself is appealing and the product container looks great, throwing you back to the vintage era of the alpha male.
The smell is fantastic and once applied to the skin, leaves it feeling soft and great to the touch. One thing I noticed with my previous post-shave creams was the crappy tight feeling afterwards. In other words smiling or pulling a certain facial expression would feel dry, irritating and almost itchy.
With this cream none of that happened to me. It works wonders and as I type this I have it applied to my face right now after my incredible shave. :)
I would like to thank Shaving Shack for its decent service too. The advice on the site is top stuff!

Product: Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic
Review: I bought this Razor and at arrived not long ago (10th Nov 2011).
This is my first jump to a double edge razor from the crappy cartridge based system. I have to say I was gobsmacked by the build quality of the razor. The craftsmanship is incredible. The weight is also perfect. It's got a fair bit of weight which allows for maximum control over each stroke of the blade.
I have so far shaved with it twice as the time of this review and I can say it is a pleasurable experience. I love shaving with it!

Review: Lovely soothing aftershave, with a wonderful fresh lavender scent. Not cheap, but a bottle lasts for ages and worth the money.

Product: Merkur 23C Long Handled Classic
Review: I've had my merkur 23c (or 180 as it's known in the states where I bought it) for about six years now and I have to say I'm impressed with the build quality.
It has a bit of weight to it (which I like) and the long handle makes it ideal for people such as myself with gorilla hands.
Although I wouldn't shave my entire face with a double razor I find them ideal for the hard to reach places such as under the nose and doing delicate work on sideburns.
Merkur makes probably the best double razors out there so if you like that old school retro feel with a bit of quality behind it i'd recommend a Merkur!

Product: Semogue Boar Shaving Brush Model 1520
Review: Have been using this brush for over a year now and although the painting on the handle (wooden) is somewhat flaking the brush as a whole is GREAT. The size is just perfect (I easily get 3 passes). This is the brush I reach for when I go for soaps. As for performance this brush will only get better with age. Trust me. Classy handle.

Product: Semogue Boar Shaving Brush Model 1305
Review: I like small brushes (chubby 1). This was a little bit to big for me. Especially if you use soaps that comes in wooden bowls. But it performs like a charm and the workmanship as a whole is terrific. The bristles are superb and the brush has great backbone. Classy handle.

Product: Parker Model 90R "Knightsbridge" Metal Safety Razor with Nickel Plated Finish
Review: I ordered this razor about 4 months ago. Having used Mach 3 razor for the past 10 years or so, I was fed up continually buying either new blades or completely new razors because they had been "upgraded". It took me some weeks to get used to my Parker, but now I find it gives a much cleaner, closer shave without any burn. It is also much more convenient for taking away on weekends and holidays, taking up much less room in a soap bag. My next plan is to buy a Merkur adjustable, purely to see if its at all possible to improve on what I consider the best!

Product: Merkur Futur 760 Safety Razor with Satin Chrome Finish
Review: I previously used mutliple cartridge razor blades, but sometimes these didn't give the shave I liked and the price of these blades is just far too high. I decided to go for a Merkur Futur DE razor. Having never used a DE razor before, I was slightly apprehensive. The important thing I found was to take my time and carry out proper shaving preparation, lathering with brush, etc. The Merkur Futur DE razor is very well made and the quality of workmanship is clearly evident. It has a very good weight to it and the adjustable settings allow you to suit your own needs / face etc. I did have a couple of nicks and cuts to start with, but that was more down to me rather than the razor itself. I've been using it now for over a week and shaving every day with it. It is an excellent product and the initial price I paid for it will easily be recouped within a year, as DE razor blades are a fraction of the cost of those rip off multiple cartridge blades. Highly recommended.

Review: Got the Futur after using a 38C for 6 months, This is a heavy and well made razor that gives a very close shave. It is best to start on the first setting and work your way up as it will bite, overall I would give this razor and the service from The Shave Shack 10/10.

Product: Truefitt & Hill 1805 Shaving Cream Bowl (165g)
Review: This is my first cream of Truefitt & Hill, as I am a newbie to the classic shaving.
I must say it's a fantastic cream, with a fragance difficult to define but that takes me to these nineteenth-century barber shops where there was no rush, the smell of old wood, leather, you could smoke and find people whose word was a signed contract.
Maybe it's a pity that all this has gone, or maybe not, fortunately Truefitt & Hill continues to manufacture soaps and creams.

Product: Proraso Shaving Cream Jar (150ml)
Review: I am relatively knew to DE shaving, always used a cartridge razor with a matching gel. I always got a touch annoyed at how the main companies can ask so much for their products and so I opted to go the Cut throat way and the DE razor method. On buying a cheaper shaving soap I thought it was a little dry on the skin and so after trying out that one I thought its time to try some proper stuff! I bought this Proraso Shaving cream and I am amazed at the small amount needed to make such a lather. A small marrow fat pea amount made enough and more to have three passes over my stubbly mug and it was rather good ya... This is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone who has a wet shave. My vote ? 10 out of 10

Review: I have always been a fan of Proraso aftershaves - and after purchasing this cream I am even more impressed by them. This is a very traditional Italian product from Florence and the smell is a lovely somewhat unique fragrance that will make you think you are in sunny Italia! The soothing oils will relieve you effectively of razor burn and as always you can make this last for a very long time if used sparingly.

Product: Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap and Ceramic Bowl (120g)
Review: The whole packaging of this product is by far the best on the market! You have to get the ceramic pot, just looks so good.
I was slightly apprehensive about getting this soap as some people have a problem with creating enough lather (most problems seem to come from America, so not sure if this is down to water 'hardness'). I needn't have worried as I got a nice silky, smooth lather in double quick time that was enough for at least 3-4 passes.

Product: Merkur Vision 2000 Safety Razor with Satin Chrome Finish (Gift Tin and Blades)
Review: A friend got me started on DE shaving (forever grateful Meestur Beel... ) and we both liked the look of the Merkur Vision 2000. I was lucky to get one as a pressie for Xmas and was SO disappointed. It didn't have full range on the "twist" scale, and the blade guard was ever so slightly at an angle. I contacted Merkur and they were no help whatsoever. I was told something along the lines of "manufacturing tolerances blah blah blah" and "..the selector doesn't have to go right round". Honestly, I had used the razor literally 5 times and went back to my Merkur 34C. I tried it again after ignoring it for a year on the stand.....and the bloody central blade guide broke clean off. I am so disappointed. Please note that it wasn't bought for me from the "Shack". Wish it had been as customer service from these guys is second to none. In short, avoid this overpriced piece of gadgety rubbish and stick with tried and tested (and reliable) basic DE razors.
