Author: P Vickery Returned my faulty Parker razor and replaced with Merkur Vision. Due to the increase size and weight it took a little getting used to. But with a little practice provides an excellent shave. Excellent customer service, thanks Dan
Author: J Burgess Wow What a razor, only had four shaves
and now a converted DE user. First time I used it substained a few knicks however it is an art form using a DE so you have to relearn how to shave something my dad should have shown me. incidently I used to have to shave every day I can now push it to two. So go on be a man again start using a DE, you know you want to. Grrrrrrrr
Author: Mark Woodcock A really superb razor. It took a bit of getting used to after a Mach 3 but if you let the razor do the work and take it carefully at first you will get an excellent shave. I found that I could get much closer shave than I have ever had before. I am now converted to using a DE.
Author: Kevin After an initial trial with a cheap plastic razor I opted for this. The difference is amazing. While not cheap this has got to be worth every penny. Get one of these and a sample pack of blades and you won't regret it.
Author: Ray Smith This is the best shaver money can buy, it shaves close if you adopt the correct shaving techniques. First wash your face in hot water using a non soap wash, even better have a shower first. Then apply shaving soap I use Crabtree & Evelyn Nomad with a brush then shave using small strokes with the grain, just let the blade do the work. Start on a low level first and shave slowly, then wash you face in cold water and then use an after shave balm I use Nomad balm from Crabtree & Evelyn and enjoy your partner will notice the difference. Just one point the hairs under the nose are a little difficult due to the size of the head that is the only slight problem. Buy it and you won't regret it.
Author: Christopher Dixon I bought the vision as my first razor last year. In truth i found it a bit big for my face. Six months of use/misuse, ie never cleaning it, suprise suprise it broke. This is the good bit though. Even though it was clearly my fault it was broke, shaving shack simply sent me a brand new one, no cost! To conclude, even though the vision wasnt quite to my taste, the customer care of Shaving shack was unbelievable good. So good to the point, i would only ever buy my shaving equipment from them, full stop.
Author: Ross Warman This was my first DE razor and what an introduction. It is about the largest model I have seen and it certainly gives a good introduction into the world. I was already a dabbler into straight razor usage and wanted something to allow for a quicker shave be it at home or away and this allows for both.
The razor itself is well made and has a lovely finish. The ability to change the aggression of the cut makes all the difference when learning but don't do what I did and spend each shave trying a different setting. This razor works better if you get to know a range of settings before deciding which one is for you, don't be afraid of the scarier end of the scale.
Overall I would say that it is a good razor but very expensive. Not to bad for a novice, afterall it was my first, but I would say not entirely essential either. Perhaps something to work up to once you have tested the water with a cheaper model.
As for the Shaving SHack, the service was excellent and very quick, all that could have been wanted really.
Author: ROBERT EASTHOPE This razor has been described as the Porsche of all razors, it is not, it is the Bugatti Veyron of razors!
I had been using a Parker DE razor, with Japanese Feather blades, which is actually quite good, but the Merkur goes to the highest level. Arm the razor with Japanese Feather blades, Proraso shaving cream, you will have the closest shave. it is important to hold the razor lightly and let the blade do the work. It is a bit tricky under the nose so I finish off with the Merkur moustache razor, perfect. As for Shaving Shack, I asked Dan a question, ordered the product delivered next day............perfect.
Author: Dorian Langlais This is my second DE razor after the Futur, the butterfly opening is a plus for the security (at the beginning I cut my finger when I changed the blade on my Futur).
It is heavier than the future but very well balanced and provides a unique shaving. With Derby or Feather blade you have the best razor in my mind.
Author: Antony Devine A friend got me started on DE shaving (forever grateful Meestur Beel... ) and we both liked the look of the Merkur Vision 2000. I was lucky to get one as a pressie for Xmas and was SO disappointed. It didn't have full range on the "twist" scale, and the blade guard was ever so slightly at an angle. I contacted Merkur and they were no help whatsoever. I was told something along the lines of "manufacturing tolerances blah blah blah" and "..the selector doesn't have to go right round". Honestly, I had used the razor literally 5 times and went back to my Merkur 34C. I tried it again after ignoring it for a year on the stand.....and the bloody central blade guide broke clean off. I am so disappointed. Please note that it wasn't bought for me from the "Shack". Wish it had been as customer service from these guys is second to none. In short, avoid this overpriced piece of gadgety rubbish and stick with tried and tested (and reliable) basic DE razors.
