The Shack scores 4 out of 5

“From badger-hair brushes to cut-throat razors, this re-launched online store has everything the discerning gentleman needs to ensure a smooth shave,” the review read.

It added: “You can even buy ‘something for the weekend’ and get tips on painless whisker removal.

”Despite its traditional wares, the site has a friendly, modern feel that makes effective use of social-media elements in, for example, product-demonstration videos.

“A blog and Twitter feed deliver updates from the shaving world and you can get 10 per cent off your next purchase if you sign up for the newsletter.

”Most importantly, the smart design makes it easy to browse hundreds of products, and you can read and write reviews.”

Shaving Shack web manager Nick Gibbens, who oversaw the recent redesign of the website, said he was delighted with the review.

“We built the new website with the customer journey at the heart. Web User’s review shows we have achieved our main goal and this is of course reassuring.

“Our new site is wider, innovative and user-friendly, and really serves as a model for what savvy consumers expect when they shop on online.

“Our previous website was a little outdated, and did not completely serve the purpose of informing our customers about the extensive range of products we sell.”

Web User is the UK’s best-selling Internet magazine – on sale every fortnight. The publication offers UK consumers simple-to-follow Internet and computing advice that is accessible, inspiring and useful.

Shavettes…the low maintenance option!

November 10, 2009 · Posted in Product News, Shaving Shack News · Comment

We’ve just taken stock of our eagerly anticipated Shaving Shack branded shavettes, available in black and white here:

Shaving Shack Shavettes

You may have experienced these in barber shops when you’ve gone to get your haircut, as they are often used to finish off the back of the neck. These are however, a truly low cost and low maintenance alternative to straight razor shaving.

Imagine being able to shave as close as a straight razor shave, using exactly the same technique, yet without the stropping and the honing (sharpening) involved!

We have many customers who use these as their daily shaver having made the jump from DE shaving to straight razor shaving. It’s a cheap way to learn the straight razor shaving technique as detailed in our FAQ section here:

How to use a Straight/Cut-Throat Razor (remembering that you won’t need to strop or hone!)

They also make an inexpensive and cool gift for dads and sons!
