Introducing the Pils Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor (101NE)
The Shaving Shack is delighted to announce that we are now stocking the luxurious Pils Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor (101NE).
“When Pils say that they manufacture all of their handcrafted shaving accessories themselves, they mean it,” said Tom Trueman, head buyer at The Shaving Shack.
“Pils take pride in placing their logo exclusively on products that are designed and processed by hand, never using low-priced bulk parts.”
Finished in a gorgeous brushed stainless steel finish, this connoisseur two-piece razor personifies precision and craftsmanship from the German experts at Pils.
“Absolutely flawless construction combined with a very distinct design makes this the ultimate artisan razor,” Tom added.
US wet shaving guru Mike Sandoval, from Shaving101.com, rates the Pils 101NE DE safety razor as one of the very best.
He said: “I love mine, plain and simple. It may very well be the last DE razor I ever buy. Can I honestly recommend it? Sure, but with conditions.
“This is NOT a razor for beginners or those looking for a cost effective shave. This is a razor for those who have extra cash lying around asking to be spent, and even then there are razors on the market that cost much less and do a very nice, if not better job for some people.
“This is a razor for those who want a piece of art and craftsmanship that delivers a great shave if your technique is sound.”

How to style and shape a range of mo styles
Our good friends at Wilkinson Sword have created the essential ‘Mo Styling’ guide for all Mo Bros taking part in the month long charity event.
Wilkinson Sword are sponsors of this year’s Movember campaign.
Mo Styling
Choosing which mo to grow is the first challenge of a new Mo Bro recruit. Check out the 6 custom mo designs below for inspiration. Keep in mind the size of your face – smaller faces need a small mo whereas more striking, larger faces need a more prominent style.
The Rascal
If ‘Danger’ is your middle name, style up this bad boy for a look crafted to roguish perfection.
How to: Grow your mo along the upper lip about 2cm in length. As it passes the edges of the mouth, groom the hair using a trimmer. Allow your mutton chops to flourish so they grow down your face and meet with your sculpted mo.
The Eccentric
If you’re the off-the-wall life-and-soul, get trimming and create the minimal look with maximum effect.
How to: Precisely sculpt each side of your mo leaving only an inch of hair in the middle. The rest of your face has to be fuzz free, so use a decent razor for the best shave for your skin.
The Connoisseur
If you scream sophisticate and scoundrel in one, why not don the best way to finesse your face?
How to: Grow your mo in to a perfect rectangle along the upper lip, using a trimmer to create neat edges. Curl the ends up using your fingers and add a little wax to hold in place.
The Maverick
If you are a bit of a loose cannon then you’ll appreciate the crafted chaos of the marvellous mo on every wanted list.
How to: Grow hair over the upper lip and groom the edges so they finish about 1cm past your lip. Maintain the curved edges regularly and keep the length in check with a trimmer.
The Visionary
If your look and mind are way ahead of their time, shape the only style that can keep up.
How to: Grow the hair long above the upper lip so it can be parted and pulled to either side. Once the hair gets to a decent length maintain the neat edges with a trimmer.
About Movember
Movember is a charity event held throughout November to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues. Known as Mo Bros, all participants register at the start of November with a clean-shaven face, then grow and groom their moustaches throughout November, raising as much money and awareness about male health issues as possible.

Vintage Shaving Company arrives at The Shaving Shack
The Shaving Shack is delighted to announce that it is now stocking the very stylish Vintage Shaving Company brand of men’s skincare products.
Vintage Shaving Company is a new men’s grooming brand, bringing together values of tradition, quality and simplicity with the latest technologies in formulations and environmentally considerate componentry.
The high quality components are 100% recyclable, and all papers are ethically sourced from sustainable forests. Everything is made in England.
Previously exclusive to Harrods, this revolutionary men’s grooming line launches on The Shaving Shack with two exciting collections, Trad and Mod.
Trad is the epitome of a classic, traditional men’s fragrance. The barber’s pole design harks back to the days of real gentlemen’s grooming habits, while strikingly refreshing citrus & lavender notes smoothly blend to the woody undertones.
The Mod fragrance is every bit as rebellious as the roundel symbol embellished in its packaging design. Never before have bergamot, lemon and spearmint been blended in a men’s fragrance to such an effect. The enlivening result tones to a heart of floral notes, blending effortlessly to a vanilla and woody base. Rebelliously masculine.
The Shaving Shack is stocking three products from each of the MOD and TRAD range – the exfoliating face wash (150ml), shaving cream (150ml) and the daily face balm (150ml).

$100k sapphire razor now being stocked at The Shaving Shack
The Shaving Shack is delighted to announce that we are now stocking the $100,000 Zafirro Iridium razor.
Is it April Fools Day again?
Unfortunately, we are not really stocking this luxurious new razor but I thought I would give it a product mention anyway.
According to Zafirro, it’s the world’s first razor with sapphire blades. The handle is made primarily from iridium, one of the rarest and strongest metals in existence.
“In addition to vastly extended blade life, the solid white sapphire blades offer a number of additional advantages over conventional steel blades. They are hypoallergenic, impervious to oxidation and corrosion, and very sharp,” said Zafirro in a statement.
“The sapphire is sharpened using high-energy, ionized particles to create an edge less than 100 atoms in width, 5000 times smaller than the width of a hair.”
The company says it will only produce 99 of the Iridium line, which went on sale yesterday for $100,000.
The blades include a 10-year guarantee and Zafirro will provide complementary servicing and professional cleaning for Iridium customers, as well as resharpening if necessary.
Sounds like a bargain!! For more information, visit www.zafirro.com.
Well if you haven’t got a spare $100k lying around then you might want to pick an alternative razor brand such as Merkur or Parker, we’ve got plenty of these in stock.
Merkur 34C voted world’s best razor
The Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic has been named the world’s best razor.
The iconic shaving product took first place in the About.com 2011 Readers’ Choice Award for best razor.
Now in its fourth year, the Readers’ Choice Awards honour the world’s best products, features and services across more than a dozen categories, ranging from technology to hobbies to parenting and men’s grooming, as selected by its readers.
The Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic beat off competition from the likes of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide, Gillette Mach 3 and Shick Hydro 5 to scoop the coveted award.
“We are not surprised that the Merkur 34C won this very prestigious award. This is one of our best selling razors and is every thing a razor should be. No cartridge razor could ever compete with the quality of the Merkur 34C.
“Sometimes you hold a razor in your hand and it feels just right. The chrome finish 34C is one of those razors. The combination of weight, craftsmanship and looks make it the perfect entry into double-edged razor shaving. A true heavyweight classic!”
In January, About.com’s readers were asked to nominate their favourite grooming products. After a nomination period that saw a flurry of activity, four finalists were chosen in each category. From February 11 through March 8, 2011, readers cast tens of thousands of votes every day via the About.com website.
The Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream took second place in the best shaving cream category, while The Bluebeards Revenge post shave balm finished third in the best aftershave category.
The Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream, our best-selling cream, received nearly 40 per cent of the votes in its category, and was only narrowly beaten by The Art of Shaving, which is owned by Procter & Gamble.
We would like to thank all of our customers and readers who took the time to vote.

Celebs ditch laser hair removal in favour of a razor, reports Daily Mail
Want to know the hottest beauty secret currently sweeping Hollywood? Well according to an article in the Daily Mail today, increasing numbers of actresses are giving up laser hair removal and threading – and picking up their boyfriend’s razor instead.
“Shaving rids the face of that fine fuzz that laser hair removal can’t pick up,” says Kate Somerville, a facialist for some of Hollywood’s most famous names told the British newspaper.
But the Daily Mail claims it’s not a new trick. Apparently, screen sirens such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor shaved their faces for exfoliated, hair-free skin.
But what about stubble? – Asks the newspaper
“It doesn’t grow back thicker or darker,” Kate told them. “That’s an old wives’ tale. Hair growth changes because of hormonal fluctuations.”
The paper even asked London’s A-list cosmetic dermatologist Dr Michael Prager his opinion.
“The shaved area of a man’s skin is younger-looking than the rest of his face because of the constant exfoliation, which stimulates collagen,” he said. “Plus, a fuzz-free face reflects the light.”
So there you have it ladies, the key to a smooth, hair free face is not expensive laser treatment, its investing a poultry sum of £19.99 in a pink Bluebeards Revenge Mach 3 Razor (yes that’s right Pink).
You could even team this with a pink Bluebeards Revenge Pure Badger Shaving Brush and a tub of The Bluebeards Revenge Shaving Cream.
Back in late 2010, we revealed to the world that over 2,000 women had snapped up the hair-delaying shaving cream since its summer launch.
Nick Gibbens, marketing manager at The Shaving Shack, said in November 2010: ”Despite the product being heavily aimed at men with heavy beard growths, we started noticing a quarter of customers buying were women. We presumed at first they were buying for their husbands, but the trend continued and is now accounting for half our sales.
“We have conducted some research into this, and discovered that women have seen their husbands use it, or seen the Decelerine coverage, and realised that if they use it themselves, they can reduce the hair on their bodies by 40% over 60 days too. So, effectively, the ‘World’s Manliest Shaving Product’ has been hijacked by women to reduce the hair growth on their legs, underarms and bikini line!“
This trend has continued into 2011, and we have even seen a new sales spike in the last 10 days.
Shaving Shack products shortlisted in coveted About.com awards
Three products stocked by The Shaving Shack have been shortlisted in the coveted About.com Readers’ Choice Awards 2011.
The Merkur Heavy Duty Classic has been nominated in the best razor category, while The Bluebeards Revenge shaving cream has made the final four in the best shave cream category.
Another Bluebeards Revenge product, the post shave balm, is shortlisted in the best after-shave product category.
Nick Gibbens, Marketing & PR manger for The Shaving Shack, said: “This is fantastic news. We are delighted that three of our products have been nominated for such prestigious awards.”
You can vote for each at http://menshair.about.com/library/bl-voting.htm. The winners will be announced on Tuesday 15 March.
